Let's just say I didn't wallow in self-pity for long. It wasn't my style, and honestly, there wasn't enough time for it. Not when Scott—that annoyingly perky redhead—plopped down next to me without so much as a can-I- sit-here.
I tried to ignore him, turning my focus back to the window. The quiet was my safe space, and I had no intention of letting it be ruined. Small talk? No thanks. That's where it all begins—conversations, casual at first, but before you know it, you start noticing things about the guy. You start getting invested, and then bam—trusting them, becoming friends, letting your guard down... only for them to betray you in the end. I wasn't about to put myself through that mess. Why bother? It's easier to stay alone, to avoid all that vulnerability.
