Chapter 159 - The empty chair

I frowned slightly, my gaze lingering on the empty chair across the table.

Rong Suyin, who was seated beside me, noticed my distraction almost immediately. She leaned closer and asked softly, "What's wrong?"

I turned to her and shook my head. "Nothing."

She looked at me for a moment longer, clearly unconvinced. A faint smile tugged at her lips. "Are you also wondering who that empty chair belongs to?"

I blinked in surprise and looked at her. "How did you know?"

She raised an eyebrow, her eyes glinting with mischief. "I'm a face reader," she said, winking at me.

I stiffened instinctively. "What?"

She laughed at once. "I'm joking." Then she added casually, "Before you arrived, I was thinking the same thing."

That eased me slightly. I followed her gaze back to the table and said, "Since that's the case, why don't you tell me who the empty chair belongs to?"
