Knowing Emily slept in the next room left Nolan restless. He tossed and turned, unable to close his eyes. Because if he did, images of her flooded his mind.
"This is crazy," Nolan muttered, feeling frustrated. He had never experienced anything like this before.
He pressed his pillow over his face, squashing any ideas that popped into his head. Still, it was no use. Emily continued to mess with his mind.
After a while, he retreated to his private office on the first floor, burying himself in paperwork. He believed that the distance between them would do the trick, so he busied himself with his work to distract himself from his unwanted thoughts.
But Nolan was disappointingly mistaken.
"Uggh! This is not working." Nolan had finally given up the fight, groaning and completely exasperated.
