The poachers were still busy with their work when a blur suddenly shot out from behind them.
Before they could even react, a Beedrill was already right at their side.
One of the burly men holding a high-tech weapon froze. A Beedrill, larger and stronger than the others, appeared before him.
Its red eyes were filled with killing intent. Cold sweat ran down his back, and he felt as if death itself was standing before him.
Before he could even shout, Beedrill's twin stingers drove straight into the weapon.
With a sizzle, the weapon was destroyed. Beedrill spun and fired Pin Missile at the other two electromagnetic cannons.
The men dropped their cannons in a panic, trying to save themselves.
A loud boom followed, and the remaining cannons were destroyed in an instant.
In just a few seconds, all three electromagnetic cannons had been ruined.
The poachers' faces all changed. They knew this was bad.
From a distance, Eichi clenched his fist in excitement when he saw Beedrill succeed.
Seeing his precious weapons destroyed, Rogen roared in rage.
He pointed at Beedrill and ordered through gritted teeth, "Kill it!"
His heart bled. Those cannons were his key to making money.
Without them, he would be back to his old life.
He wished he could drink Beedrill's blood then and there.
But he couldn't call Arbok back yet. Without Arbok's intimidation, the wild Pokémon they were guarding might escape, and that would be an even bigger loss.
The others obeyed Rogen's order and commanded their Pokémon to attack Beedrill.
"Koffing, use Sludge!"
"Fearow, use Drill Run!"
"Geodude, use Smack Down!"
"Houndoom, use Flamethrower!"
"Primeape, use Scratch!"
Koffing spewed a lump of black sludge. Beedrill tilted its body and dodged.
Fearow lunged forward with Drill Run, but Beedrill slipped past it.
It countered with Twineedle, striking Fearow. The bird screeched and fell, fainted.
A poacher gasped, "Fearow!"
Beedrill was already known for its speed, and under Eichi's careful training, it was even faster.
Houndoom fired Flamethrower, but Beedrill blurred away with Agility.
Geodude hurled a rock, but Beedrill's twin stingers shattered it into pieces.
From the debris, Primeape lunged with a punch aimed at Beedrill's head.
Beedrill crossed its stingers to block. The force made it stagger back slightly.
Then Beedrill retaliated with Fury Attack, striking Primeape again and again until it collapsed on the ground with a pained howl.
The poachers grew more frantic. To prevent Beedrill from escaping, two Golbat unleashed Mean Look.
Now, Beedrill couldn't flee.
Even as several Pokémon surrounded it, Beedrill avoided nearly every attack.
Though a few moves hit, the injuries were light.
Eichi saw that the moment had come. He rushed forward and commanded, "Beedrill, use Fury Attack on Fearow!"
Beedrill's tail stinger glowed as it shot at Fearow.
Fearow tried to dodge, but it was too slow. Beedrill struck, and Fearow fell from the sky with a screech.
Then Beedrill vanished with Agility. A moment later, the second Fearow also fell.
Both Fearows were down.
"Beedrill, use Pin Missile on all of them!"
Beedrill stopped mid-air. Its stingers gleamed as it unleashed a storm of needles, covering every poacher Pokémon in range.
Five sharp missiles pierced five Pokémon at once.
It unleashed another wave, then another.
At first, the poachers sneered. Beedrill's Pin Missile had never seemed that strong before.
But soon their confidence turned to horror.
This Beedrill's attack was overwhelming. Five Pokémon fainted instantly.
"This Beedrill is too strong!" someone cried in shock.
Rogen's face twisted as more of his Pokémon collapsed.
He shouted at Eichi, "Brat! Call it off right now, or you'll regret it!"
Eichi glared coldly. "Never. You people are unforgivable!"
"You'll pay for what you've done!"
Rogen barked a laugh. "You? A kid?"
He pointed at Arbok. "Arbok, get back here! Use Acid Spray on Beedrill!"
Arbok slithered back at high speed and spat a stream of purple venom.
Beedrill dodged, but Arbok fired again and again.
It avoided each one, but then two Koffing ambushed it.
One spewed Smog, the other Poison Gas, trapping Beedrill in a choking cloud.
Inside, Beedrill struck them down with its stingers, knocking both out, but it was poisoned in the process.
Outside, Rogen gave another order. "Arbok, get in there and use Thunder Fang!"
Inside the smoke, Arbok grinned cruelly. Its fangs sparked with electricity.
Beedrill, weakened by poison and fatigue, couldn't dodge this time.
The bite struck hard, and Beedrill staggered, its movements slowing.
But its eyes still burned with fury.
It remembered the Arbok that had slaughtered its kin.
Beedrill poured all of its rage into its stingers.
Eichi shouted into the smoke, "Go, Beedrill!"
From within, a piercing cry rang out. Beedrill drove both stingers deep into Arbok.
Outside, everyone froze as Arbok screamed in agony.
Beedrill had gone berserk!
