Far ahead, the Pokémon being attacked included a swarm of Beedrill, along with Butterfree, Venonat, Ariados, Raticate, and Oddish.
The stronger ones had already been defeated and captured. The rest were forced into a corner.
To stop them from escaping, the poachers set up a blockade of Pokémon around them.
Some timid ones gave up resisting. They huddled together, trembling.
It was clear this was a small poaching group. They had no power to capture rare and powerful Pokémon.
They could only take common ones to sell, making profit through numbers.
At that moment, Eichi's Poké Ball shook violently.
He released Kakuna. The moment it appeared, it glared at the poachers with fierce eyes.
Eichi looked again and realized many of the Beedrill were their targets.
Some had already been captured. Some had been killed.
Most of the Pokémon under attack were Bug-types.
Eichi froze. It was the first time he saw Pokémon being killed right in front of him. Worse, among them were Kakuna's kin.
In his past life, Eichi had always loved Pokémon. He thought they were precious and adorable lives.
After coming to this world, he felt blessed. He finally had a Pokémon of his own.
From the day he caught Weedle, he grew to love Bug-types even more, even though others looked down on them.
But now, Bug-types were being slaughtered before his eyes. Innocent lives were destroyed by greedy humans.
A surge of rage rushed through him.
His fists clenched. He wanted to rush forward and smash his fist into those arrogant faces.
But reason held him back. Charging out now would achieve nothing. It would only get him killed.
Eichi had never been this angry. His whole body burned with fury.
He swore he would defeat them. He would make them pay.
Kakuna's eyes turned blood-red as it watched its kin die.
Nothing was more unbearable.
For the first time, it longed desperately to evolve. It wanted to save them.
It will make those humans pay!
Amid the rage, a green energy burst out of Eichi's body.
Kakuna, beside him, absorbed it madly.
Eichi sensed the change. The energy poured out of his body, but it was under his control.
He quickly pressed both hands on Kakuna and directed the energy into it.
Through his strange vision, he saw Kakuna's body react wildly.
Every part absorbed energy and began the final transformation.
Its aura kept rising. When the change reached its limit, Kakuna's back split open, shining with white light.
Kakuna was evolving.
From the cracked shell, a large yellow wasp-like Pokémon emerged.
Its body was divided into three segments.
Its head was round with sharp jaws and red eyes. Two antennae extended upward.
Its abdomen was round, with all four legs attached.
Its striped tail ended with a sharp stinger.
Its arms had huge, sharp white needles.
On its back were two pairs of wings covered with intricate patterns.
It was Beedrill.
After more than a month, Kakuna had finally evolved.
And this Beedrill was different. Its body was larger, stronger, and more imposing than others of its kind.
Its ruby-red eyes glowed with killing intent.
Its twin stingers radiated deadly danger.
From a distance, it looked sharp and terrifying.
Inside Beedrill's body, Eichi could see a green flame the size of a fist.
Energy swirled around it.
Eichi looked toward the poachers. His vision had sharpened without him realizing. Now he could see their side clearly.
The Rattata Poaching Group had sixteen Pokémon in total.
Each of the eight poachers commanded two.
They included Arbok, Golbat, Geodude, Houndoom, Fearow, Primeape, and Weezing.
Only one Arbok was present, but it was the strongest. It stood at the front and blocked every strong foe.
Through his strange vision, Eichi compared the energies.
Arbok's flame was only the size of an egg, with less surrounding energy than Beedrill's.
The others each had marble-sized flames, with only a trace of energy circling them.
Eichi understood now. This was his golden finger, his cheat ability.
But he had no time to explore it.
What mattered now was defeating the poachers.
Beedrill was about to charge, but Eichi stopped it.
"Wait. Not yet. There are too many of them. We need a plan."
He forced himself and Beedrill to calm down. Then he analyzed the situation carefully.
There were eight poachers, one woman, and seven men.
Their Pokémon were not that strong. Arbok was the strongest.
Their arrogance came from the three high-tech weapons.
Each cannon was guarded by two Pokémon.
If those cannons were destroyed, Beedrill would face no fatal threat.
Eichi stroked Beedrill's head. A message flowed into his mind.
Beedrill was communicating with him. His golden finger allowed this too.
It told him it had learned Focus Energy, Twineedle, Rage, Fury Attack, Pin Missile, and Agility upon evolving.
Normally, Agility could only be learned at level 38.
But Eichi had trained it so well that it learned the move early.
Used well, these moves could overturn the battle.
Eichi quickly called the police with his communicator. Then he gave his order:
"Beedrill, first use Focus Energy.
Then rush in with Agility, and destroy one machine with Twineedle.
After that, use Pin Missile to destroy the other two.
Then attack freely."
"But protect yourself!"
"You must succeed, or we're in trouble."
Beedrill nodded coldly.
"Go, Beedrill! It's all on you."
When the poachers were distracted, Eichi shouted.
Beedrill shot forward like an arrow.
