Chapter 20 - Chapter 19: Securing The First Item

Sometimes I wonder if I'm being paranoid about getting ready.

I can't say I've not considered that those years of experience I had was nothing but a terrible dream.

The freezing nights that made it impossible to bear through. The starvation from surviving of crackers for days wondering when the next meal would be.

The betrayals of so many people that I put my faith in. Those and several other experiences are one I never want to go through.

I may not dwell much about it but it's hard to swallow that I supposedly survived so long in a ruined world and after dying in such a pathetic way I just happened to be taken back in time.

Honestly deep down I hope I'm actually being paranoid and all that was nothing but a terrible nightmare.

I've probably gone too far to start getting cold feet.

I'll take the responsibility for my actions in a heartbeat if I truly turn out to be wrong. That will be far better than experiencing all that over again. But until then I'll have to keep pushing through like I have been doing so far.

In that case I'm off to get my first item.

"Good day… What kind of vehicle would bring you to ou-"

A kid? He looks barely older than my son… to think I wasted my time with pleasantries.

"You guys deal with different brands of vehicles right"

I'll never forget our tiring and exhausting moving around in a frozen wasteland was. Obviously the car and snowmobile were something that would come in handy for traveling the steep snow.

"As you can see from the display we obviously do"

Hm, this guy's attitude sure took a turn…

Is it because of my age? Even if I'm young, that shouldn't judge my capability of shopping for a car.

Is he that dense or just trying to act bad at his job

I don't have the time nor the energy for this.

"Isn't that a!..."

The card should speed up the process"

"S-Sir I'm sure it must be uncomfortable standing all day. Why don't we go in please"

I can't be mistaken that's definitely the credit that goes to the hundreds of millions. Even the boss doesn't have one. Yet a kid no older than my boy is waving it so casually.

"Give me a strong car would ya"

What's the world turning into that high schoolers are making money like candy.

"So then good Sir. How strong of a car are you looking for"

"As strong as it possibly gets. At least military grade"

"While it may be few, we do have some cars of that level. Please take a look at the screen"

Mhm, these are not bad. They certainly look pretty durable.

Wait a minute, what's this one? It's not a bad car at all. I really like the color plus the design doesn't stand out much but enough to not make it completely bland.

"What are the specs of this one"

"The GL450 that's a good choice. It's a new stock that just came in. The entire frame is layered with reinforced steel making it almost as ideally durable as a tank.

It also has several protective features like. Oil spill, smoke bomb, spiked wheels, pepper spray. And of course the latest domain wall feature. Meaning as long as you're inside, there shouldn't be a way for anyone to get in unless you say so"

"How come?"

"The entire frame is loaded with one of a kind electric zappers. In simple terms. It electrocuted anyone trying to get within range without your approval. You can set how much volts it charges out right from the comfort of your seat"

Is this how far technology has advanced? What an impressive feature.

"So what's the highest volt it can discharge then. Can it be lethal?"

"The maximum voltage doesn't reach the capacity to actually prove fatal. But can release enough to render a person unconscious. So we ask you be careful when setting the level"

It's a bummer that it can't actually kill someone. But overall the feature ain't bad at all. It makes the rest look like nothing but extra props set.

Overall the car's not bad at all. But all these are meaningless if it can't handle its main objective

"Is it able to drive in snow?"

"Snow!… This car is built mainly for its durability. So it's not versatile in different environments. Though if you're looking for one that does work on snow we have some options. But I should note out that they may not contain as much features as the the GI 450"

"I don't mind as long as it drives on snow and it's bullet proof that should be enough. But if possible I'll prefer it has the electric barrier like this one"

That feature is bound to come in handy. I can't let anyone close to the only means of transportation so easily.

"Then the TlGR should fit your needs. It may not be good as a car manufactured solely for the snow. But the wheels should work preferably well on such grounds"

"Can I see it"

"This way then sir it's stored in the back"

Ohh! Seeing it face to face I knew it was the one. But I couldn't let its slick build cloud my judgments. It needs to prove itself first.

I tested the car features. It couldn't compare to the first car when it came to variety but It was at least up to standard.

That's what I thought of at first but No it was even better than I expected. Mainly because of its unique feature. It's kinda hard to explain but there's a section at the back that launches steel pellets.

"So are you interested in the car"

At that moment I got an idea, that if I could modify it a little. It should be able to shoot bullets out like a rifle.

"Yes. Very interested"

"Great I'll start getting ready on the paperwork"

"Before that. Do you also happen to have snow mobiles"

"Snow mobiles…? I'm afraid we don't. Since we are at the equator where winter is impossible there's no demand for such vehicles that only run on snow"

Right, I forgot about that.

Does that mean I'll have to give up on them? I was planning on getting back up means of transportation but it's unlikely any dealership will have it if the biggest doesn't. What kind of bad luck is this.

Well I should at least be lucky I managed to get a car that runs well. Hopefully the opportunity for a snow mobile comes up.

Moving on I got the car registered and of course I bought it instalmentally. They obviously won't be coming for their money back by next month.

But even with the initial deposit it cost me about 30 million. Cars sure are pricey nowadays.

"Well… Let's take it for a spin"
