Chapter 19 - Chapter 18: Making Arrangements

With the ammunition settled I can probably now focus on stocking up.

It's been four days since I contracted the house to be renovated. I haven't checked it out for a while now. Though I highly doubt the place is ready yet. It should be good enough to start moving things in.

So what shall I stock up on first?

Well food and medicine are of course the most important. But I'll leave that aside for now since the best comes in last. It will be better to take my time picking them out.

I better get some sleep. I have a long day ahead of me tomorrow.

In the blink of an eye the moon had disappeared over the dazzling sunlight.

I went by my morning as usual in the hotel. Freshening up before heading over to the cafeteria for breakfast.

I know what you are thinking; Why would you bother going all the way there when you can just request for meals to be delivered right at your door.

Well it's probably because the meals here are so exquisite that it takes up to a few hours before it can be delivered to your door.

If you want it any faster you have to get it freshly prepared from downstairs. It's a hassle but when their meals are that good. I can see why they'd come up with rules like that. Sadly I'm not one to wait.

Well finishing up my daily routine. My first stop was my house. When I got there it looked completely remodeled.

"Oh I can hardly recognize it"

I should have told them not to tamper with the house design. How would mom and dad react to seeing this?

"Hey kiddo how's it been going"

Isn't that!

"I didn't expect you to be back so soon"

"Well the airlines have been messing up their schedule lately. This time my shift got pushed back all the way to next week. So I managed to slip out sooner.

This charismatic guy here is a friend of mine Tyler. While he may be ten years older than me. We got along pretty well.

He left home a few years back and became a pilot. So he rarely spends a lot of time in the area before he heads back out.

"My old man did say your place was getting renovated but seeing it myself. You lot sure are taking it miles ahead from before"

"There were a lot of issues in there so my parents decided to as well renovate the whole thing while they are away"

"Ohh. Where are you staying during all this then?"

"Evergarden hotel"

"Impressive. I didn't expect my man here to be living it big while I was away"

"From what I gather flying all over the world and visiting places that one can only imagine of going while getting an all expensed paid resort from your airline is looking real exhausting"

"Stop making it sound like I'm going on a vacation"

But you are though

"It's work. Well I've got plans with my folks back home. Better make the best of it while I'm on my day off, catch ya around"

"Tyler. You don't seem to well"

"Uh! Really but I feel great"

From what I remember you handled your job like usual but a delay made your flight last longer and unfortunately that was the last anyone heard from you.

"Just do me a favor and call in sick. And you might want to shop more than usual. I got a tip that prices are gonna sky rocket"

"Thanks kiddo. I'll keep that in mind"

While you may be a good friend of mine. I'm not ready to risk my safety for yours. Hopefully my words help you to avoid that tragedy and prepare for what's to come.

Well better head inside and see how they are doing.

"You guys seem to be working fast"

"Mr Peterson's! Uhm we've completed the house remodeling. We are just adding the finishing touches"

Why is he acting this nervous?

"So where's Roland I don't see him around"

"The manager is handling another matter, but don't worry about it. We'll ensure nothing slow our progress"

"In that case you guys have installed the underground warehouse like I requested"

"It's still in the works but it should be done by the end of the day… please this way"

Hm, So it's connected to the house basement.

Was it Roland instruction? They even installed a key pad with high level security.

That guy sure knows how to please his clients.

Following the steps down made my ears ring. You could easily hear the sound of metal clanking and heavy machinery all over. Good thing the house is sound proof else the neighbors wouldn't let me hear the end of it.

"Is that the freezer"

"Yes what do you think"

"What I think of it… it's insane, this really takes the cake"

"I'm glad it's to your liking"

Huge that was the word that came to mind as I entered the freezer.

I could possibly fit an entire car collection in here and there would still be room.

The control of the freezer temperature was also top class. They used a high end screen that controls the temperature inside taking it from fifty degrees to as low as negative sixty degrees.

That's insane!

I'm glad I deposited such a huge amount. They've completely outdone themselves.

"By the way you guys have a way to let trucks drive in"

"Trucks!"

"Yeah like an entrance for cars and trucks to get here directly"

It would take eternity to stock here completely if the upstairs is the only way in.

"We didn't include that in the project but we could use the hole we came in from to set out a garage door that let trucks in"

"That would be very helpful. Well I'll be on my way now. Get Roland to call me if any problem arises"

"I'll pass the word, have a good day Sir"

I know we are not to pry information from our clients but what does one need a bunker of this magnitude for?

"Since the place is almost complete I can start ordering the essentials"

During the apocalypse a lot of people are going to be trapped indoors early on. One needs the right way to pass time while being cooped in.

Which is why I'll need stuff to make things easier.

A diesel generator, games, coats, fuel , a snowmobile and possibly an armoured car that runs well in snow.

"Dad's warehouse should cover most of that stuff but I highly doubt there's an armoured car or snowmobile laying around"

Still it will be tough to get the stuff I need from the warehouse. He's bound to figure it out sooner or later but I don't want to alarm him just yet.

It's probably possible for me to convince them about the disaster coming but it would all be for naught if they start warning everyone they know.

As much as I hate to say it. But at this point in time they are too kind for their own good.

They should be arriving home by the end of the week so I have six days to stock the house as well as figure out a way to get what I need from the warehouse.
