"I've contacted him, he says he'll see you now"
"Splendid"
"Please this way,"
The receptionist lady seemed pretty flustered taking me to a private room.
I knew the card had its pro's, but who could've guessed by just flaunting it around a little. You'd get a ticket to a high end company and top tier service while at it.
"Please feel comfortable. The manager will be with you shortly"
She's avoiding eye contact,
"Thanks"
Is she still feeling nervous because of her reaction earlier? While it was certainly unprofessional. It's not like I was gonna make her lose her job or something. Though I don't suppose she knows that much. Anyone would turn out to be worried when they've offended someone way higher than you. I can tell that for a fact since I was nothing but at the bottom of the food chain during the dark age…
"It's a pleasure to meet our esteemed client"
Hmm, he's supposed to be the manager. He looks quite younger compared to any of his colleagues around. I highly doubt a company like this just makes anyone a manager without having the qualifications.
"The pleasure's all mine"
"So what kind of project could have been so troublesome for you to bother yourself to discuss with"
Getting straight to the subject... He doesn't seem to be the type to indulge in self pleasantries much. Good, that's just my kind of people.
"Right, thank you for dropping your schedule over my abrupt request. I'm sure you must be quite a busy man Mr uhm"
"Roland… but you're right about that. I am busy, so I'd prefer to keep this meeting brief if it isn't too much trouble"
Is this seriously the high tier client Uva was talking about? I have to say it's hard to believe. Looking closer he appears even younger than myself. One could honestly mistake him for just a highschooler.
"Alright if you insist then I'll cut to the chase. How good are you when it comes to a tight deadline?"
That's what he's starting with?
"Depends how big the work is and how steep the deadline is. But for better reference can you be a little more specific"
"Here's a picture of my home"
Hmmm… I see a lot of issues that can be reworked on the site. It might be subtle but it's quite nearing its end. In a couple of years it'll be nothing but a pile of wood and bricks, collapsing in on itself. It might not be the big project I was expecting, but it certainly isn't a small project either.
"I'll be direct. I want you to make that house impenetrable that even God himself won't be able to destroy, before this week ends"
Eh!... He can't be serious now can he?
"You expect us to make a big house such as this war proof in Six days— even if me and my men were robots working non stop. There's no way such a feat can be accomplished"
Oh really…
"People tend to say what can and can't be done. But I believe if the motivation is there anything is possible, even such an unrealistic feat… This time I want it done in four days. So what do you say, are you up for the challenge?"
It really is a golden credit card. I can't believe it, such a young boy owns one of these. Although what he's asking is really unreasonable, a client like this is going to be impossible to find for a hundred years. It's really a tempting offer. I can't afford to lose this deal. Imagine the amount of promotions I'll get for handling such a big deal and winning over such a wealthy client.
"Alright, we'll see what we can do about it"
"I'm glad we reached an agreement. Right, I'll also need you to build a bunker right below my home. Possibly half of it should be a giant freezer"
"An… u-nder-ground bunker!"
Could he be just getting us to undertake crazy requests on purpose? Trying to find our limit to much work that can be handled? I must say, if it wasn't for the eager stare he is giving, as well as how composed his expression is, while saying such absurd words. I might've thought that to be the case. But from the look of things it's like he seriously expects us to pull this off.
"I can't imagine where you are coming up with these tasks. But with all due respect even if the entire company was to take over, it can't just be done in four days"
"How long then?"
"Uh?"
"If the entire company was to handle this, how long would it take"
"I'm not sure, probably about seven days"
"Good, I'll be expecting the project to be done by next week"
"Wait… I was just spouting out words, you don't really expect everyone to abandon their current jobs to handle this one!?"
Does he?
"Sigh, you're going to play it this way Mr Roland. Fine can you call your account"
"My account?"
Honestly a lot of rich kids nowadays tend to believe anything can go their way, cause they can pay for it. But you have to realize by now, there are just limits to how much problems money can actually solve.
"There, now this should boost your morale right?"
I don't get why he is being so persistent. It's not like the world is ending any time soon. Plus we have not even gone over the cost of this, and he's asking for my account. I have to find a way to break the news carefully for him to understand. He's going to have to adjust just like everyone else. Even if you deposit an amount such as— this!. Hold up, am I seeing things right!?
"2-2-200 million!!"
Eh! I have never seen so much money before. That's seven zeros no doubt about it. Does such an amount even exist? I've never seen a bank account with this many numbers before, but it's sitting in my account right now.
"I take it that you're satisfied with the amount"
Even if I was to save my whole life, I probably won't ever make this much.
"Y-yeah"
But looking back. Didn't he just basically renegotiate the original deadline he set up initially, but just added more work.
"I'll be counting on you Mr Roland. Remember there's more where that came from but you're going to have to go above and beyond"
I feel like I've been scammed for some reason.
"R-right"
I'd say that went pretty well. I've seen the kind of homes they reinforced during the dark age, those things were as solid as tanks. I can rest assured knowing the work is in safe hands.
Alright now that shelter; one of the biggest hurdles's been taken care of. That leaves me with food, medicine, ammunition and essentials to take care of.
"Sigh… this ain't gonna be easy one bit"
Where do I even begin now? If I'm to put all my mind to it and focus, it will probably take around ten days give or take and that is taking into account my luck turns out great and I don't run into any trouble.
