Chapter 16 - Chapter 16 – The Pink-Haired Maid’s Day 01

Basically, I should've been grateful for the accommodation. I was given one of the guest rooms inside this massive Western-style mansion, complete with soft bedding, and antique furniture. It felt too luxurious for someone like me who had just been fighting a Minotaur hours ago.

Even though neither Eriri nor I had any visible injuries—and our bodies felt fine—we were both clearly exhausted, especially mentally. After dinner, Eriri had gone straight back to her room and fallen asleep almost instantly. As I didn't see at all after that.

As for me, I sat on the edge of my bed, staring at the ceiling. I didn't even have a smartphone. It was a shame, really—I wanted to check out what kind of world this was, to see if anime and manga still existed here. My curiosity was killing me.

"Ah... Adi-kun, you must need this to keep in touch with Eriri. Especially since you'll be her maid starting tomorrow," Sayuri's cheerful voice came from the doorway, followed by a gentle knock. She entered the room with her usual elegant smile, holding out a sleek-looking smartphone.

"Eh... You really don't have to—"

"Fufu, nonsense. You'll need it. And besides," she said, emphasizing the word maid with suspiciously strong enthusiasm, "I'm sure Eriri will want to contact you for... assistance."

I sighed but couldn't refuse. "Thank you... really."

In the end, I realized just how generous the Sawamura family truly was. They gave me a place to stay, food to eat, and even a smartphone without hesitation. With that much kindness—and Sayuri's playful aura—it was nearly impossible to say no to her.

After she left, I sat down again and started exploring the phone. Everything seemed normal—the internet worked, there were apps, and the interface was surprisingly familiar. But when I started searching for anime or manga, things got strange.

Titles like Naruto, Bleach, or Attack on Titan didn't exist in this world. Instead, there were oddly similar stories—different names, different characters, but familiar themes, almost as if they were alternate versions. One Piece and a few classics from before the 1990s still existed, but beyond that, everything felt like a strange, rewritten history of anime and manga.

It was unsettling. This world wasn't quite the same as mine. Well, this is the world of anime in my perspective after all.

I leaned back against the pillow, staring at the phone screen as it dimmed in my hand. "So this is Eriri's world... huh? I guess this is my new world now."

"You're really wearing that," Eriri said, her voice still groggy as she sat up, blinking against the light. I had just opened the curtains, letting the soft morning sun flood her room with a warm glow.

"Yeah," I replied, turning toward her with an awkward smile. "When I woke up, your mother had already prepared this outfit. And, well... after giving me a room, a smartphone, and even offering to pay me by the hour, I don't think I can refuse."

Eriri squinted at me for a moment, her expression somewhere between disbelief and amusement. And honestly, I couldn't blame her.

Because right now, I looked like Astolfo—if Astolfo had been thrown into a Victorian mansion and told to serve tea. The maid uniform was refined and elegant, with a long black dress trimmed in white lace, a crisp apron, and puffed sleeves that hugged my arms neatly. The frilled headband sat perfectly atop my soft pink hair, and the ribbon tied around my neck only made the whole thing feel even more proper... and a little humiliating.

However, this Victorian-style maid uniform always reminded me of those maids in anime who could do absolutely everything—fight, clean, and maybe even pull a gun out from under their skirt if the situation called for it. The kind of elegance that could kill both literally and figuratively.

I glanced at myself in the mirror and sighed. "It's not the cute or sexy type at least... but still, I can't believe I'm wearing this," I muttered, shamelessly twirling around once. The skirt flowed beautifully with every movement, and the layers of black and white fabric shimmered softly under the morning light. The material felt expensive—silky smooth, breathable, and surprisingly comfortable despite how heavy it looked. Whoever tailored and designed this clearly knew what they were doing. It was kind of a masterpiece in their ways.

Erir covered her mouth as her shoulders trembled. "Fufu... well, it suits you more than I expected," she said, trying to suppress her laughter.

"Please don't say that like you're enjoying this," I replied with a faint smirk, brushing imaginary dust from my apron. "Besides, we're the same height and size, right? Which means... your mother probably had you in mind when she gave me this uniform." I looked at her meaningfully, pretending to sound innocent.

Her expression froze for a split second before she twitched. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"Well," I continued, smiling gently, "it's kind of sad that an outfit that looks perfect for you actually fits a guy like me so well."

"Shut up!!!"

Her face flushed bright red as she grabbed the nearest pillow and hurled it straight at my head. I dodged, but the next thing I knew, she was pushing me toward the door with surprising strength for someone her size.

"Out! Out! I need to get ready for school!"

"Alright, alright! I'm going!" I laughed, stumbling into the hallway as the door slammed shut behind me. I could still hear her grumbling faintly from the other side, and I couldn't help but smile wryly.

So this was my morning in the Sawamura household—thrown out by a blushing tsundere while wearing a maid outfit that probably cost more than the rent of my entire old apartment. Honestly, it was such a bizarre experience that I couldn't help but laugh at how ridiculous my life had become.

If I were still in my old body back in my previous world, there's no way I would've done something like this. But now, with this cute boy appearance and the fact that I was being paid an hourly wage several times higher than the minimum wage in my old country… well, maybe it wasn't such a bad deal after all.

But I never expected that my first job in this new life would be working as a maid for a rich family. Ah, and let's not forget—Eriri's father was politician on the level of an ambassador from the U.K.

"I mean, this is a new life. I don't think I need to overthink things like religion, society, or moral dilemmas," I muttered to myself as I headed toward the dining room. "Might as well enjoy something I've never experienced before." After all, I still had to prepare breakfast for Eriri.
