"I don't know! I only know the syringe was very advanced and ornate; there was no writing on it at all," Wang Zhi struggled to recall.
"An advanced syringe... Quick, I am arranging your immediate return to Dawn Tower right now. Once you arrive, go straight to Aelirans. I must report this to the Tower Master immediately." Jie Xi said, walking out.
Wang Zhi followed somewhat nervously. He couldn't understand why Jie Xi had suddenly become so agitated. Clearly, Jie Xi believed whatever Auntie Zi injected him with was highly critical; as of now, he himself didn't know what it was either.
"When you reach Dawn Tower, go directly to the fifth floor to find Aelirans; I will call ahead for you," Jie Xi instructed.
jie Xi escorted Wang Zhi through various checkpoints, receiving unimpeded passage at every turn. Finally, after putting Wang Zhi onto the elevator heading for Dawn Tower, she turned and left.
Inside the elevator, Wang Zhi looked at Jia Liuli; he had forgotten to ask her to return and notify the others that he would be delayed due to certain matters.
Wang Zhi exchanged a glance with Jia Liuli, who immediately shifted her gaze elsewhere.
"Jia Liuli, don't you get bored never talking all day?" Wang Zhi asked, somewhat curiously.
"I don't know what to say," Jia Liuli replied.
"Uh... I noticed you often talk when you're with Ying, though."
"That's because I don't want to cause trouble for Captain," Jia Liuli responded.
"Oh~ is that so? Then aren't you afraid of troubling Sister Ying?"
Jia Liuli shook her head. "Actually, Sister Ying is quite kind; she's not as cruel as you imagine."
"Cut it out. That's because it's you. Try putting Fatty in her place? I guarantee she'd torture Fatty to death!"
At the mention of this, Wang Zhi suddenly paused and muttered to himself, "Wait? Do you think Ying might be interested in women? All her previous organization members were women, and now she's this close with you. Hmm... it's possible. Jia Liuli, you need to be careful. Don't fall into her trap."
As the two conversed, the elevator quickly arrived at Dawn Tower.
The two arrived at Dawn Tower. Since the survivors had relocated, the Tower was eerily deserted, save for the occasional staff member passing by.
Wang Zhi did not linger, heading straight to the elevator and going directly to the fifth floor.
Upon reaching the fifth floor, Aelirans' subordinates were already waiting at the door and immediately ushered the two of them inside.
"Take a seat for now, wait for me briefly," Aelirans said, greeting Wang Zhi as he arrived.
"Okay."
After about half an hour, Aelirans finished what she was busy with, then approached Wang Zhi carrying a syringe.
"Come, let me draw some blood." As Aelirans spoke, before Wang Zhi could even remove his own clothing, she had already reached out and pulled down the fabric covering his left shoulder.
"Done! Alright, you can go back now."
"Huh... what? You just needed to draw some blood?" Wang Zhi was stunned; he hadn't expected it to end so quickly.
"What else? Do you intend to stay here and watch me conduct experiments?"
"Fine, then we'll take our leave."
.....
Wang Zhi returned to Dawn City. Jie Xi told him to go back first, saying she would notify him via the communicator the moment there was any news.
On the way back, he wondered: if the substance Auntie Zi injected him with wasn't that simple, how would he face the consequences?
"Why did it take so long? Are we not eating anymore?" Su Muying frowned when she saw Wang Zhi and the other person return.
Wang Zhi checked the time; it was already past 7 PM. "Something happened, and I didn't have time to notify you."
Wang Zhi sat down on the sofa, feeling somewhat weary.
"What happened?" Duan Qingtian walked over and asked.
"I don't know either. While I was talking with Jie Xi, she suddenly realized something, and then I was sent to the Dawn Tower to have Aelirans draw a tube of my blood," Wang Zhi explained.
"Draw blood? Why would she draw your blood out of the blue?" You Luo asked.
"I was injected with an unknown agent by Auntie Zi before. Now Jie Xi suspects that the N Organization is after this substance."
"The N Organization.... Captain Wang, are you sure/ That incident of yours was so long ago, how could it possibly be about you?" Hearing that the N Organization's target was him, Fatty immediately jumped up in fright.
"This old debt dating back fifteen years-I also think it sounds ridiculous!" Wang Zhi spread his hands, indicating his own helplessness.
"What were the results?" Old He asked.
"The results aren't out yet. Jie Xi will notify me when they are."
"Assuming the N Organization is indeed after something inside Wang Zhi, what do you all think it might be?" You Luo posed the question.
"If you were injected with an agent, it would naturally be your blood. What else could it be?" Su Muying shot You Luo a look.
"No, what I mean is, what would they want Wang Zhi's blood *for*?" You Luo clarified.
"There are too many possibilities, and it might not even be for Wang Zhi. Coincidences like that are rare," Old He remarked.
"Stop talking about it, let's go eat first. After you eat, help me bring some back; I won't go," Wang Zhi said, placing the Magnetic Card on the table.
"What's wrong with you?" Old He asked, looking suspiciously at Wang Zhi, who was leaning weakly against the sofa.
"I'm fine. just a bit tired, anxious, and also some... depression. Yes, depression," Wang Zhi said.
"Damn it! Captain Wang, are you serious? What time is it? And you're playing moody? Let's go, let's go, hurry up and eat," Fatty pulled Wang Zhi up from the sofa.
Pulled up by Fatty, Wang Zhi could only helplessly follow him out.
"by the way, why are you depressed out of the blue? With three beauties accompanying you in the team, shouldn't you be happy?" Fatty asked on the way.
"It has nothing to do with that. I'm just thinking, if this matter really is connected to me, what should I do? I don't really like carrying a mission," Wang Zhi revealed the reason.
"What are you afraid of? We're still here! We'll carry the burden with you," Fatty said, thumping his chest.
Wang Zhi smiled without saying anything. Having experienced so much, he realized that the serum Auntie Zi injected him with back then was definitely not that simple. He started to feel fear and unease; he was afraid that one day he would be targeted, dragging more people close to him into it.
After the meal, to dispel his anxiety, Wang Zhi went to the Moonlight Tavern and bought a pile of high-proof liquor, intending to get himself drunk.
After drinking who knows how much, when he opened his eyes again, he was already on the carpet inside the room. The sunlight from outside shone through the window, but the three people who had been on the bed were nowhere to be seen.
Wang Zhi slowly managed to sit up, staggering out of the room. He checked the time-it was already nine in the morning. The first floor was also empty; he guessed those people had already gone out to train.
This was the first time Wang Zhi had gotten blackout drunk since the Apocalypse. Seeing the three steamed buns left on the table, Wang Zhi felt a warmth spread through him; it felt good to know someone was thinking of him.
