Chapter 16
Blake
Getting ready to head out too. I start making a plan. I need to find this guy so she can live in peace again, but I also have to find the guy who hurt her and make him pay. How do I do that without letting anyone knowing I'm here? I do still know some people that wouldn't rat me out. On the way home I'm going to have to get a lab top and a few other things so I can get in touch with them. Hay Jeff may be able to get money out of my account and get it to me without them finding me. When I'm almost to the store my phone rings. I pull over and pick it up.
"Hes here i no he is i can feel his eyes on me but i cant see him" my heart drops
"Get inside or with someone you know is safe i'm on my way" i hand up and peddle as fast as i can to the shop it was right there in eye side. I burst into the door running right past everyone. Sliding into the bay I see George. I run up to him and beg.
"I need to borrow a car. I will explain everything when I get back." I was ready to grovel but he just looked at me for a second then said.
"Sure my truck is the old red one on the side of the building." He handed me the keys. I took them about to run out but stopped.
"Do you know where the reservation center is"
"Forget it i will drive" mike grabs the keys from me and heads out the door fast. I ran to keep up with him. When I make it out of the building he's already got the truck running and he is turning it around. He pulls right up to me. Jumping in I don't even worry about putting the seat belt on. He speeds off.
"Now tell me what is going on." he demands. His eyes never leave the road.
"Someone I care for dearly is being stocked. She just called and she saw him at her work."
"Did you call the cops" as soon as he said that i just realized i never did i was too worried about getting to her. I pull out my phone to call them. I'm just getting off the phone with them when we pull up. I jump out of the truck before it even comes to a complete stop.
"Rose!" I scream her name while running to the main building. She comes running out of a building further down straight for me. I pick up my speed pushing my legs as fast as I can. When I finally reach her I pull her into my arms.without thanking i turn and start running back to the truck where i know she will be safe. Mike sees me running back over there. He starts heading for the truck doing the same as he did at work. When I get there the door on the passenger side is all readily open. I put her in and tell him to take her back to work knowing she will be safe there. She tries to protest but I just shut the door. Mikes must not be listening to her ether because he takes off at full speed. I watch them tell they are good. I turn to see two women looking at me. I know one Katie who she is staying with. I don't know the other. I walk up to them.
"Sorry she will be missing work today." I'm not really sorry but I know she likes this job and I would feel bad if she lost it. I can tell they're very worried. "I just want her somewhere safe until the cops get here." Katie is still worried but something else is there to understanding.
"You know she didn't see him just felt it right." She studies me.
"Yes I know but I also know if she felt him here then he is here." She gives me a big smile.
"Ok i'm going to help win her heart but we have to catch this guy first."
"I appreciate it. Can I look around to see if I see anyone familiar. I didn't see his face but I saw his back. I may be able to pick him out if he's still here."
"Yes you can. I'm the boss here, my name is Tiffany." The other woman finally spoke. She's a tall woman with red hair and freckles. She has more protectiveness than worry. She doesn't really trust me yet. I will spend time later winning her over but right now I have more important things to do. Walking around I look at everyone but not just for the way they look. I'm trying to find someone with that black color. Wants your color turned back, there's no way to turn it any other color. I know people that have broken the law. Very few were black most were just at their lowest point and some were really bad. Just not all the way. Blake is the worst kind. I'm not seeing him. After I walked around the whole area I headed back to the front. The cops are here. I don't even look at Louise, which I know burns him up. It's fun to mess with him. I get to ted.
"I walked around the entire area there's no sign of him."
"We should be the ones to look around and determine that" Louise cuts in.
"Be my guest I will be right here to talk to yall when you get back" Louise stomps off. Ted just pats me on the shoulder and shakes his head. I wonder if anyone knows they are dating? They make a good pear. I'm going to ask Rose later. I watch them talk to people and look around. I do hope they find something I missed. Ted goes inside with Tiffany. I hope it's to look at the cameras and they got the guy's face. Louise walks right up to me.
"What are you doing here?"
"She called me and I came."
"Why did she call you and not us?"
"I don't know. She must trust me more." If I didn't know he loved Ted so much I would feel a little threatened.
"What can you do?"
"Like I did. keep her safe. Ok all this aside did yall find anything or the cameras in the woods lead to anything."
"We found footprints a few feet into the wood right across from the offices. We are going to make a mold to see if they match the ones from her house. The cameras didn't lead us anywhere. They filed off the serial numbers and no one has bought them from any of the stores around here in the last two weeks." I can't help the disappointment I feel at hearing that. I'm not going to let her be in danger any more. By tomorrow I'm going to have a whole team on this. We will find him. I know the cops are doing their best, but there is only so much they can do.
"Were did Rose go?" Louise asked me. Shaking me from my thoughts.
"My coworker brought her back to my job. I don't want her here just in case he was still here."
"That was a smart move, however I am worried that if he sees you with her he may escalate and get violent with her instead of just watching her."
"I did think of that. That's why I only meet her at my house when she comes over. I can't take that away from her. She feels safe with me and I'm not taking that from her."
"She may want to find a different way to your house so he can't see her on that four wheeler. Everyone can see her and know where she is going." That's right, she's too out in the open. I was able to sorta track her by people seeing her on it the first night she stayed at her friends house. I'm really going to need to get my money. I don't have enough money right now to get a car she can use. As I'm thinking Ted and Tiffany walk back over.
"We can only see his shadow. He must know this place and her house very well to know where all the cameras are. He knows where to stand to stay just out of sight."
"So you think it's someone who knows her and has been watching for a long time? I don't think so. she would have noticed if someone had been watching her." Tiffany clears her trout.
"Not unless he never had bad intentions before this and only now he has decided to do something bad." Katie walks up too.
"She has always been able to tell if someone just looks at her even if it's just a glance. It got in the way a lot so she trained herself to completely ignore that feeling. Now she can only tell when someone looks at her and wants to do her harm."
"Ok so we have to look at every man that works here or comes here a lot or any male friends she may know and see if any match the description." Ted says while deep in though.
"That sounds like a good start. Blake when you go back to Rose can you please tell her not to come back today or tomorrow. Loss that look on your face she's not being fired. I need to think of another place where she can work without anyone but us here knowing. " Katie starts jumping with her hand up in the air.
"I know where she can work. She can work with me. I can bring her with me. I don't come to the main office that often. You can just tell everyone she's taking some time off and she can ride with me to my post."
"That's a very good idle. But I still want her to take a few days off. How about you tell her that she can come back to work with you on Monday until the guy has been caught? "Tiffany says while nodding her head.
"Well we better head over to her now so we can talk to her." Ted says when the second cop car shows
"Get in, we will take you back with us." Louise told me. opening the back door of the cop car.
"Thank you." I looked at Katie and Tiffany. " It was very nice to meet yall." I get in the car as they give me a wave.
