Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: The Unicorn Tavern, the Strange Girl

The fog slowly disappeared.

Three days later, Leo and his group arrived at Sal Island.

Around the harbor, there were a lot of big ships, even warships.

They didn't dare to get close, even though they took down the pirate flag, but anyone could tell it was a pirate ship.

Pirate ships could usually dock at Sal Island, but now there were soldiers on the island, so they had to be careful.

"Drop the anchor, we'll row the small boat over," Leo said, leading the two girls to a hidden place, and told them to drop the anchor and lower a small boat.

"Remember, I'm your master now," he said, putting a handful of coins in his pocket, adjusting his fancy long coat, and jumping into the small boat.

The two girls also changed into fancy clothes.

"Okay," Lilia said, not very happy.

"Sweet, say master," Leo still couldn't help teasing her, but he got a look from her that said she wanted to kill him.

"Mister Leo, do I have to call you master too?" Ava asked, but she didn't feel any resistance in her heart.

"You can call him husband if you want!" Lilia said, not happy.

"Haha, I do too," Ava said with a silly smile, not hiding anything in her heart.

"I can't believe I ended up with the two of you," Lilia complained, looking at Leo and then rowing hard toward the harbor.

The Unicorn Tavern.

The most famous tavern on Sal Island, it was full of all kinds of people — pirates, adventurers, merchants, even soldiers came here.

It was also the place where the latest news always spread first.

A girl wearing a loose cloak and a big hood pushed open the old wooden door and walked in.

She pulled down her hood, revealing long, soft purple hair and a face as pretty as a porcelain doll, which made a few people whistle.

"You see, still a cute little girl."

"Little one, are you looking for your mom? Want me to help you?"

The tavern was full of teasing laughter.

The girl smiled coldly, which she was used to. She quietly pulled out a pale blue wand from her loose sleeve.

"Oh, it's The Noble Magician, My Lord. Nice to meet you." The guys were shocked.

Especially the adventurers who had just teased her, they were quiet and scared.

The magician was not someone ordinary adventurers could trouble.

"Hmph." The girl looked proud, walked to the counter, and sat on a high stool. She was only just tall enough to show half her head.

"Boss, same as usual," the girl said, taking out a dozen silver coins and tossing them on the counter. She looked like a regular here.

"Sure thing, a cup of mare's milk," the bearded boss said with a smile, getting a clean bamboo cup and handing her a full cup of pale white mare's milk.

The girl frowned and took a sip, then asked, "Any news about elves lately?"

"Ma'am, you came just in time. There's news about elves. It says an elf warrior was seen over 120 miles east, on Flame Island. Lord Kael put up a reward — 100 gold coins." The boss took out a wooden sign, showing the latest reward.

"Nice surprise." The girl dropped two more silver coins, grabbed the mare's milk, and drank it quickly, then stood up to leave.

Creak!

The wooden door of the tavern was pushed open roughly again.

"Elf!"

"WOW! Another pretty barbarian girl."

A young man dressed in fancy clothes entered the tavern with two beautiful girls.

It was Leo and the two girls.

He gave the adventurers a cold look and put one hand on each girl, saying, "Stay quiet. This is an elf with a master."

Ava obediently fell into his arms.

Lilia, however, stiffened and glared at Leo.

It was bad enough that he was taking advantage of her, but now his hands were all over her body.

"Another noble!"

"If I had a servant like this, I'd live ten years less."

"Shhh, you want to die? This is a noble."

"This island is getting more and more messed up. They're all here looking for The Fountain of Immortality."

The crowd around them started talking.

[Bip! Danger nearby]

A message popped up.

Leo frowned and looked around carefully.

Since he landed on Sal Island, he had been getting danger alerts from time to time.

But once he showed his noble status, the warnings would disappear.

But this time, he had already shown his identity, and the danger alert was still there. That meant someone here didn't care about noble status and wanted to attack him.

He looked around carefully.

At the bar, a little girl pulled her hood over her face and pushed through the crowd.

The warning message disappeared right after that.

Leo frowned. He didn't notice anything strange. The person must have left, or wasn't going to attack him.

"Master, what's wrong?" Ava asked, confused.

"Nothing," Leo said, not thinking too much. He walked to the bar and threw a coin on the counter. "Boss, three tequilas."

"Sir, have a seat!" The bearded boss smiled and quickly took the coin, bringing over three full cups of tequila.

Leo took a sip and frowned. He asked, "Boss, is there another elf on this island?"

"Yeah," the big man nodded and looked at Lilia, saying, "You already have a beautiful and noble elf girl right here."

Lilia frowned and her face showed a flash of anger.

Leo glared at the boss and said, "I mean other elves."

The boss laughed awkwardly and said, "We haven't seen any others. But there are some elf-related rewards."

The boss pulled out the reward board again. The second reward was to catch the elf on Flame Island, worth 100 gold coins.

The first reward on the board was to find The Fountain of Immortality, worth 1 million gold coins!

Lilia saw the reward and looked disappointed.

That reward was about her.

Leo said calmly, "I don't care about the rewards. I want to know who put this reward out."

"It was Lord Kael." The boss didn't hide it.

Lord Kael?

The captain who attacked them before was also a noble.

Leo laughed coldly and asked, "I want to visit this lord. Do you know where he lives?"

"Yeah," the boss didn't hide anything, "he lives at the White Horse Inn on the east side of the street."

"Thanks." Leo stood up and left.

"Sir, you didn't get your change back yet," the boss hurriedly said.

"Keep it as a tip," Leo said with his noble attitude, waving his hand casually.

"Thank you, my Lord," the boss smiled and took out a gold coin, bit it, and carefully put it away.

The group left, getting lots of jealous looks from adventurers.

"Leo, that was so wasteful. That was one gold coin," Lilia said, not happy.

"Leo, what do we do next?" Ava asked.

"We'll take care of Kael first, then look for more elf news," Leo decided to kill Kael.

With the reward out, Flame Island was always dangerous.

The reward would only disappear if the task was completed or the employer was dead.

The group walked toward the White Horse Inn on the east side of the street.

In a dark and quiet alley, the girl appeared.

"Big shot," from a pile of trash, two figures jumped out. They wore big hoods too, but showed off a pair of horns.

They were bulls from the half-ogre race.

"Big shot, we found out about the elf on Flame Island," one bull said.

"Yeah, I already knew," the girl said coldly.

"Big shot, should we go out to sea?" the other bull asked excitedly.

"No," the girl shook her head and said coldly, "this can wait. I found a friend. Biggy, Secondy, dare you kill nobles?"

"Big shot, don't even say nobles, we'd kill kings too," the two said excitedly, pulling out big axes and getting ready to fight.

"Good, first save my friend, then go to Flame Island. Follow me." The girl waved, leading the two bulls as they quietly snuck closer to the tavern.

[Bip! Danger is approaching]

The message popped up again.

Leo stopped and looked around carefully. This was a quiet alley with almost no people.

"Leo, what's wrong?" Lilia asked, confused.

"There's danger. Get ready to fight!" He coldly said and immediately hid behind the two girls.

Lilia was confused. She didn't feel anything strange.

But she knew Leo's ability. He was always very sensitive and could sense danger before it even happened.

"Move!" A low voice shouted. Two loud sounds flew through the air — it was two sharp water arrows!

A mage!

Lilia immediately became alert, standing in front of Leo and swinging her long sword to cut the water arrows.
