The bidding surged quickly. Ten thousand leapt to twelve, then fifteen, then almost twenty within seconds.
The room buzzed with excitement, heads turning as numbers were called out.
Selene watched with a faint, satisfied smile. Evelyn sat beside her, arms folded, looking entertained.
Nothing was more satisfying than seeing your work being sought after.
Across the room, Tessa leaned forward slightly, her expression unreadable but her eyes fixed on the necklace.
She hadn't planned on buying anything tonight. Attending this event hadn't even been in her schedule, but now she was glad she came.
She lifted the placard in her hand.
"Twenty-five thousand."
The auctioneer acknowledged her with a gracious smile.
"Twenty-five thousand from the lady in the second row. Do we have twenty-seven?"
"Twenty-seven," someone behind her called.
"Thirty," Tessa said calmly.
A smooth voice tang out from beside her.
"Fourty"
