Jian Ci knew he was lying but he couldn't prove it. Of course, Yu Xi was enjoying it. He was always the one getting poked in the butt and this time, it was Jian Ci's turn.
Jian Ci nodded, though his soul was slowly leaving his body from sheer embarrassment.
"Okay," he muttered.
The second injection was quick. "There," Yu Xi said, standing and disposing of the injectors.
Jian Ci straightened, rubbing the back of his neck. "If you feel unwell, tell me," Yu Xi said, already turning toward the bathroom.
"I will," Jian Ci replied, voice quieter now. "Don't worry."
Yu Xi nodded. "I am going to take a shower."
He turned to leave, but Jian Ci reached out and caught his arm. "Wait."
Yu Xi paused, looking back at him with that patient, unreadable expression.
Jian Ci opened his mouth, hesitated. He wanted to ask again about the flowers. About what he thought he saw. About the memory that didn't feel like a dream.
But instead, he sighed and said, "It's nothing."
