I glared back at Sebastian, the sudden wave of anger overriding my fear. "How did the problem of my survival suddenly become ridiculous to you?" I challenged, my voice shaking with indignation.
"You might be obscenely rich and sheltered, but some of us still need to do menial jobs to make ends meet and secure our futures, okay? You are working right now; you are clearly consumed by work. So why does my wanting to work sound so ridiculous to you?"
Sebastian's handsome face hardened, his eyes narrowing into slits as he glared right back at me. He looked genuinely offended, as though I had just insulted his lineage. "It is ridiculous," he insisted, his tone deep and unyielding.
