Chapter 17 - chapter 17 Skypiea arc

Screen 1 — Arrival at the White Sea

The Going Merry bursts through the final layer of clouds and suddenly glides onto something soft and white — but solid.

Usopp:

"H-Hey! Are we… floating on clouds!?"

Chopper kneels and pokes the white surface.

Chopper:

"It's squishy… but solid! Is this really a sea!?"

Nami studies her Log Pose, amazed.

Nami:

"This is the White Sea. A sea made entirely of clouds… incredible."

Luffy leans over the railing in awe.

Luffy:

"WE REALLY MADE IT!! SKY ISLAND!!"

Zoro squints at the never-ending layers of white.

Zoro:

"Feels weird. Like walking on dessert topping."

Sanji:

"Don't eat it."

Papyrus leaps onto the cloud surface with dramatic flair.

Papyrus:

"BEHOLD! THE GREAT PAPYRUS WALKS UPON THE CLOUDS THEMSELVES!"

Sans steps down calmly, hands in pockets, taking in the sky.

Sans:

"pretty chill place. literally."

Suddenly, a small boat made of clouds floats toward them.

Riding it is a young sky girl and her father.

The girl smiles warmly.

Conis:

"Hello! Welcome to Skypiea."

Her father bows politely.

Pagaya:

"I'm Pagaya. This is my daughter Conis. You must be the new arrivals from the Blue Sea."

Luffy waves excitedly.

Luffy:

"Hi! I'm Luffy! You live in the clouds!? That's so cool!"

Conis giggles.

Conis:

"Yes. We are Sky People — the Skypians."

Pagaya nods.

Pagaya:

"And there are also the Shandians, warriors who fight to protect their homeland."

Usopp shivers.

Usopp:

"Warriors? Are they friendly?"

Conis hesitates.

Conis:

"Well… not exactly. There's a lot of conflict here."

Nami sighs.

Nami:

"So even Sky Island has trouble…"

Papyrus points upward dramatically.

Papyrus:

"FEAR NOT! THE STRAW HATS SHALL RESTORE PEACE TO THE HEAVENS!"

Sans mutters under his breath.

Sans:

"hope the sky people like skeletons…"

Pagaya laughs gently.

Pagaya:

"Actually, you're the first skeletons we've seen."

The crew's adventure in the clouds has officially begun — and Skypiea's mysteries are just getting started.

Screen 2 — The Truth About Skypiea's War

As Conis and Pagaya guide the Straw Hats through Angel Island, the mood slowly shifts from excitement to tension.

The sky is bright and peaceful…

but the people seem nervous, watching the clouds like danger could fall from above at any moment.

Nami notices immediately.

Nami:

"Everyone looks scared… What's going on here?"

Pagaya sighs deeply.

Pagaya:

"Skypiea has been at war for centuries."

Conis gestures toward the distant white horizon, where enormous cloud walls surround a massive forest of sky-wood.

Conis:

"That place is the Upper Yard… the land everyone is fighting over."

Zoro narrows his eyes.

Zoro:

"Upper Yard? Sounds like something big."

Pagaya nods.

Pagaya:

"It used to be part of the Blue Sea."

The crew stops walking.

Usopp:

"Wait, wait—WHAT!?"

Pagaya continues.

Pagaya:

"Long ago, the Knock-Up Stream blasted a huge chunk of Jaya Island into the sky.

That land became the Upper Yard."

Nami's eyes widen.

Nami:

"So the island really DID fly into the sky… The stories were true!"

Sans taps his chin, analyzing the story.

Sans:

"makes sense. big water explosion, huge pressure… yeah, that could launch land if the physics line up."

Papyrus gasps dramatically.

Papyrus:

"THE HEAVENS STOLE AN ISLAND!? HOW INCREDIBLE!"

Chopper clutches his hat nervously.

Chopper:

"But… why is that a problem?"

Conis looks down sadly.

Conis:

"The Upper Yard was the sacred homeland of the Shandians.

When it was shot into the sky, they followed it.

And ever since, they've fought the Skypians to take it back."

Zoro crosses his arms.

Zoro:

"So the forest is their home… and the sky people claimed it?"

Pagaya nods with shame.

Pagaya:

"Yes. And the fighting has never stopped."

Luffy stares toward the Upper Yard, expression darkening.

Luffy:

"So there's a war… all because people are fighting for the same piece of land."

Sans looks at Luffy.

Sans:

"kinda like jaya. people fighting over dreams… or what's theirs."

Nami sighs.

Nami:

"I hope we don't get dragged into it."

Papyrus raises his hand like a hero.

Papyrus:

"WE SHALL BRING PEACE TO THE SKY WITH OUR BONES OF JUSTICE!"

Usopp:

"PLEASE DON'T PROMISE THAT FOR US!!"

Skypiea's beauty hides centuries of conflict.

And the Straw Hats have just walked into the middle of a war that didn't start with them…

but might end with them.

Screen 3 — The Thunder Tyrant of Skypiea

While the Straw Hats learn about the long war between the Skypians and the Shandians, a darker truth rises above all of it:

Skypiea is ruled by "God" Enel.

A man with absolute control over lightning.

Conis lowers her voice in fear as she explains.

Conis:

"Enel… he rules everything with terror. If anyone disobeys him… they are struck down by lightning. He calls it 'divine judgment.'"

Chopper trembles.

Chopper:

"L-Lightning!? He can just… call it down!?"

Zoro keeps a steady face.

Zoro:

"So he's the real problem."

Sanji flicks ash from his cigarette.

Sanji:

"A self-proclaimed god. Great. Just what we needed."

Robin folds her arms calmly.

Robin:

"A Logia user. Lightning… that's quite rare."

Nami looks around nervously.

Nami:

"And we're just walking around in his territory!?"

Papyrus dramatically shakes.

Papyrus:

"A GOD OF LIGHTNING!? MY BONES ARE NOT PREPARED FOR THIS!"

Sans stares upward, feeling the static in the air.

Sans:

"yeah… this guy's aura feels off. like he thinks he's above everyone. literally."

Luffy smiles in challenge.

Luffy:

"A lightning guy? Sounds fun!"

---

The Search for the City of Gold

Despite the danger, the Straw Hats head into the Upper Yard after hearing rumors of an ancient treasure — the legendary City of Gold, which vanished centuries ago when Jaya was blasted into the sky.

Robin studies ancient ruins.

Robin:

"Judging by the carvings… this really was part of the Blue Sea once."

Nami's eyes shine.

Nami:

"So the city might really be here!"

Usopp clutches his bag protectively.

Usopp:

"As long as we don't run into lightning gods…"

A loud BOOM shakes the forest.

Zoro:

"Too late."

---

Enel's Priests and the Trials

The Straw Hats stumble into Enel's deadly "survival game," controlled by his four priests. Each one rules a section of the Upper Yard with a brutal trial.

• Shura — Trial of String

• Gedatsu — Trial of Swamp

• Satori — Trial of Orbs

• Ohm — Trial of Iron

Luffy cracks his knuckles.

Luffy:

"We're fighting them all!"

Zoro grins.

Zoro:

"Good. I needed a warm-up."

Sanji steps forward.

Sanji:

"I'll handle the next one."

Robin stays calm.

Robin:

"I'll investigate the ruins."

Chopper gulps.

Chopper:

"I'm… gonna stay with Robin…"

Papyrus jumps up heroically.

Papyrus:

"BEHOLD! I, PAPYRUS, SHALL FACE ANY TRIAL IN MY PATH!"

Sans sighs.

Sans:

"sure, bro. i'll keep an eye on you."

The crew dives deeper into the Upper Yard — into ancient ruins, deadly traps, and battles against skilled priests.

Above them, lightning crackles through the clouds.

Enel, sitting upon his throne of drums, opens one eye.

Enel:

"More intruders… how amusing."

The war of Skypiea is about to collide with the Straw Hat Pirates — and nothing will stay the same.

Screen 4 — Secrets Buried in the Clouds

While the rest of the crew battles Enel's priests, Robin and Papyrus travel deeper into the Upper Yard.

The dense sky-forest opens into a quiet clearing filled with ancient stone pillars — relics from the Blue Sea civilization that once stood here centuries before.

Robin kneels beside a moss-covered slab.

Robin:

"These ruins… they're from Jaya. The island truly was blasted into the sky."

Papyrus looks around in awe.

Papyrus:

"INCREDIBLE! THESE STRUCTURES ARE OLDER THAN MY SKELETON! AND THAT'S SAYING A LOT!"

Robin smiles faintly.

Robin:

"You have a good eye, Papyrus."

They press forward until they reach a massive stone emerging from the cloud floor — towering, unbroken, and carved with a strange script.

Robin's expression becomes serious.

Robin:

"A Poneglyph…"

Papyrus gasps loudly, nearly falling backward.

Papyrus:

"A WHAT-GLYPH!?"

Robin touches the ancient symbols with respect.

Robin:

"These stones hold forgotten history… truth erased from the world.

This one describes the links between the Sky People… and the people who lived on Jaya long before the war."

Papyrus leans in, trying to make sense of the symbols.

Papyrus:

"CAN YOU READ IT!? DOES IT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT SPAGHETTI!?"

Robin chuckles softly.

Robin:

"No. But it speaks of a land, a bell, and a great warrior tribe… the history the world government wants hidden."

Papyrus nods seriously, despite not fully understanding.

Papyrus:

"HISTORY MUST NEVER BE BURIED! I SHALL GUARD THIS STONE WITH MY LIFE!"

Robin gently places a hand on his shoulder.

Robin:

"Thank you, Papyrus. But what we need is to protect the truth — and the people searching for it."

Lightning crackles in the distant clouds as Enel's presence spreads across the Upper Yard.

Papyrus tilts his head.

Papyrus:

"That wasn't thunder… was it?"

Robin stands, eyes narrowing.

Robin:

"No. That was Enel.

We need to return to the others. Something dangerous is coming."

Together, Robin and Papyrus leave the ancient relic behind — carrying a small piece of the Void Century mystery with them.

The truth is much bigger than Skypiea…

and the Straw Hats have only just scratched the surface.

Screen 5 — The Rubber Man and bonar man vs. the Lightning "God"

High above the Upper Yard, inside Enel's massive thunder shrine, the sky roars with electricity.

Lightning arcs across the drums behind Enel like living serpents.

Enel floats calmly above the floor, confident and glowing with power.

Enel:

"I am God. All who challenge me will be reduced to ash."

He raises his hand.

A bolt of lightning crashes down—

—but Luffy and Sans stand side by side, unmoved.

Smoke clears.

Luffy brushes dust off his hat.

Luffy:

"That tickled."

Sans dusts off his jacket sleeve.

Sans:

"kinda warm. you done yet?"

Enel's eyes widen in disbelief.

Enel:

"Impossible. My divine lightning cannot be resisted."

Luffy grins.

Luffy:

"Well, I'm rubber. Lightning doesn't work on me."

Sans smirks, one eye glowing faintly blue.

Sans:

"and electricity barely fazes me, man. wrong matchup."

Enel crackles with fury.

Enel:

"Fine. Then I shall vaporize you both!"

He unleashes a massive thunder blast that shakes the entire shrine—

but when the light fades…

Luffy stands there, unharmed.

Sans teleports behind Enel in a flash of blue.

Sans:

"surprise."

He fires a quick Gaster Blaster shot, forcing Enel backward.

Enel snarls, the first hint of fear crossing his face.

Enel:

"This cannot be! I am God!"

Luffy stretches his arm back.

Luffy:

"Being 'God' doesn't matter. You hurt my friends… and tried to destroy this island."

Sans cracks his knuckles.

Sans:

"yeah. so it's judgment time."

Together, they charge.

Luffy's rubber fists slam through lightning.

Sans dodges beams of thunder and counters with precise soul attacks.

For the first time ever, Enel is outmatched.

His invincibility means nothing.

His fear is real.

The showdown begins —

lightning against rubber and bone.

"God" against two fighters he never saw coming.

And Skypiea's fate hangs in the balance.

Screen 6 — The Fall of the Lightning "God"

High above Skypiea, the sky glows gold and blue as the battle reaches its final moment.

Enel hovers in the air, desperate, electricity crackling wildly from his drums.

Enel:

"I AM GOD! YOU CANNOT DEFEAT ME!"

Luffy, half-covered in gold from Enel's trap, lifts the massive golden ball on his arm.

Luffy:

"Yeah? Watch us."

Sans teleports beside him, five Gaster Blasters glowing behind his shoulders.

Sans:

"time to turn out the lights."

Enel fires one last giant lightning strike — his strongest attack.

The sky explodes with light…

…but Luffy and Sans break straight through it.

Luffy leaps forward, arm stretching, golden fist spiraling like a drill.

Sans fires all five blasters at once, pushing the attack even harder.

Together:

Luffy:

"GOMU GOMU NO—!!"

Sans:

"boosting you, captain."

"GOLDEN RIFLE!"

The punch hits Enel's face with overwhelming force, the blasters exploding behind it like a comet.

Enel is launched into the distance, disappearing into the clouds and beyond —

sent flying all the way to the Fairy Vearth he dreamed about…

the moon.

His so-called "godhood" ends in silence.

---

The Bell of Shandora Rings Again

As the clouds clear, Skypiea finally breathes freely.

The Skypians and Shandians—after centuries of conflict—lower their weapons.

Together, they look toward the ancient golden bell of Shandora.

Luffy, with Sans lifting him via blue soul energy, strikes the bell with a massive swing.

GOOOONG.

The sound echoes across the sky.

Nami:

"It's… beautiful."

Robin smiles softly.

Robin:

"The city's voice… after 400 years."

Far below, on the Blue Sea, at the edge of Jaya, Mont Blanc Cricket pauses.

He hears it—

the bell his ancestor described.

The proof the world denied.

Cricket drops to his knees, laughing with relief.

Cricket:

"Noland… you were telling the truth."

---

A New Peace in the Sky

Chopper helps the wounded.

Zoro and Sanji finally stop arguing.

Papyrus proudly tells everyone how he helped too.

Papyrus:

"BEHOLD! THE SKY IS SAFE THANKS TO OUR TEAMWORK AND BONES OF JUSTICE!"

Sans just grins quietly.

Sans:

"not bad. sky's peaceful again."

Skypiea celebrates, the war ends, and the ancient history of Shandora shines once more.

The Straw Hat Pirates prepare to sail back down from the clouds —

their adventure in the sky complete.

Screen 7 — Farewell to the Sky

After the final battle, Skypiea bursts into celebration.

The sky is filled with music, dancing, and clouds glowing gently under the rising sun.

The Straw Hats join the Sky People in a grand feast atop Angel Island.

Sanji cooks alongside sky chefs.

Usopp impresses kids with "brave warrior" stories.

Zoro sleeps wherever he falls.

Nami quietly collects maps and weather notes.

Robin studies ancient carvings with Shandian elders.

Papyrus runs across the cloud streets waving golden trinkets.

Papyrus:

"LOOK, EVERYONE! GOLD! REAL GOLD! MY BONES ARE SHIMMERING WITH JOY!"

Conis laughs.

Conis:

"You certainly enjoy Skypiea's treasures."

Papyrus nods intensely.

Papyrus:

"YES! I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS, SHALL TREASURE THIS TREASURE FOREVER!"

Meanwhile, Sans is lying on a soft cloud pillow, out cold.

Sans:

"zzz… wake me up when it's time to go…"

Chopper pokes him gently.

Chopper:

"Sans fell asleep during the party again…"

Robin smiles.

Robin:

"He earned it. He fought hard."

---

A Gift From the Sky

Before the crew departs, the Sky People offer them a small share of gold and sky shells as thanks for saving their island.

Nami tries not to scream in excitement.

Nami:

"W-We'll humbly accept! Really humbly!"

Luffy waves goodbye with both arms.

Luffy:

"Thanks for everything! We'll visit again someday!"

Gan Fall bows.

Gan Fall:

"You all carry the true spirit of adventure. May the sky watch over you."

---

The Descent Back to the Blue Sea

The Straw Hats board the Going Merry, preparing the special "Weird Cloud Express" to descend safely.

Papyrus climbs up the mast, still hugging gold.

Papyrus:

"GOODBYE, SKY PEOPLE! I WILL MISS YOUR FLOATY CLOUDS AND DELICIOUS FOOD!"

Sans finally opens one eye.

Sans:

"heh… nice vacation. let's head home."

The Going Merry slides down the cloud stream, beginning its long fall back to the Blue Sea.

The sky slowly disappears behind them—

but the memories of Skypiea stay bright and warm.

The arc ends with the crew shouting together:

Luffy:

"ONWARD! TO THE NEXT ADVENTURE!"
