The heart monitor beeped wildly, nurses rushed in, Donald was frozen in shock.
Everything was in blur. He stared at Grace, the noises of the doctor and nurses slowly became inaudible.
The gentle brush of one of the nurses brought him back to reality.
"You have to leave sir," The nurse said
"No, I am not leaving her side." His voice was firm.
But the nurse wouldn't let him this time.
"I'm sorry sir, but you need to leave."
He's forced out of the room while doctors tried to stable Grace.
Donald bangs his fist against the wall, whispering her name over and over, begging her to hold on.
His mind races. He could not bear the thought of losing her.
His eyes we're teary, he didn't care who sees the him crying. All he wanted was Grace to be normal again.
When the monitor finally steadied, the doctor came out.
"Her heart rate is finally okay." The doctor signed, "she really needs rest, avoid deep conversation. She's still weak but she get strong."
