Selene's POV
The corridor felt impossibly long as Lucian and I walked toward our bedroom, the soft glow of the lanterns in the hallway casting gentle ripples of light across the polished floor. The lingering weight of the night's revelations tugged heavily at my chest, but the instant we stepped into our room and Lucian's arms wrapped firmly around my waist from behind, the world seemed to grow a bit quieter, a little more contained, as though his very presence served as a barrier against the whirlwind of thoughts, memories, and emotions swirling inside me.
He pulled me closer until my back rested fully against his solid chest, and he lowered his head to place a kiss against the sensitive spot just below my ear. His warm breath brushed against my skin, making my heartbeat steady itself, grounding me in ways nothing else ever could.
