Matthew Atkinson and Natalie Russell
First Layer of the Supernatural Realm
As Filip and his team were heading to Earl's Mansion, Matthew and Natalie chose a small tavern near the city gate and paid to stay there.
The reason they chose this place was a decision they made after careful observation.
This tavern was right on the main road, with a relatively open area and no dead ends, making it easy to escape. Furthermore, the accommodation was on the second floor, which was higher up, allowing the two of them to observe the situation outside.
Additionally, it is conveniently located near the city gate.
If something went wrong or the city became too dangerous, the two of them could quickly leave the city!
When the two of them moved into the pub, the sky was getting darker.
Natalie stood by the window of the second-floor room, looking out at the street below.
As night was about to fall, residents on the road quickened their pace and rushed home. Shops on both sides were closing, and even the guards at the city gates disappeared.
Everyone looked anxious!
However, the city gate was left open. She didn't know if the soldiers were too anxious to escape and had forgotten about it, or if they had done it on purpose.
Seeing all of this, Natalie frowned.
She had this uneasy feeling about the city from the beginning!
"Natalie, you're right, there's something really wrong with this damn place!"
Matthew's voice came from behind her.
Yeah, they booked only one room.
And the reason for booking only one room was not to save money, but to protect each other.
Anyway, neither of them had time to sleep tonight. They were in the middle of a mission.
"It's getting dark." Natalie said, "Whatever it is, it will be revealed soon."
Seeing the girl's uneasiness, Matthew immediately said, "Don't worry, as I said before, our deal is that you will receive the achievements, and I will ensure that you get the best result ever in the supernatural realm."
Upon hearing this, Natalie looked at Matthew deeply, then said, "It seems that Kryptonian Bloodline is not the useless ability that everyone claims, right?"
She was indeed a brilliant genius! Her brain was definitely one of her key talents.
Now that it has come to this, there was no need for Matthew to hide it any further. They would forget this conversation when they left this layer anyway.
He immediately smiled and nodded, "Yes, I discovered the secret of how the Kryptonian Bloodline becomes stronger. I can say that I am stronger than all the first-year students, at the moment."
After saying this, he carefully observed the girl's reaction.
Natalie's expression was very natural. She nodded and said, "I can see that. Even Denis Read couldn't defeat that fat man, Peter. The fact that you were able to win easily proves that your current strength is even greater than theirs."
After a pause, Natalie asked curiously, "I don't usually see you training in school. Could it be that you train outside to keep the secret of your Kryptonian Bloodline?"
'Well… Shouldn't sunbathing also be considered a form of training?'
"I guess so!" Matthew said.
Natalie was smart enough not to ask why Matthew kept it a secret.
In fact, she knew it without asking.
If it were her, standing in Matthew's position, she would also keep it a secret to preserve the singularity of the Kryptonian Bloodline.
"Your strength attribute is very high. It seems that the Kryptonian Bloodline is a strength-focused ability. Am I right?" Natalie asked.
"No!" Matthew said with a smile, "It's an all-round enhancement without any blind spots!"
He was not bragging!
His Kryptonian Body would reach a point where he would be invincible in terms of speed, strength, and defense in the near future. Otherwise, Superman would not have the reputation of being the "God on Earth".
If he were to name a weakness, it would be low magic resistance. And kryptonite. But there wasn't any kryptonite in Blue Marble, was there?
He'd better investigate that in the future. There was a possibility that kryptonite might come to this world due to the Holy Land's influence.
In fact, once he was strong enough, he should research powerful items found in other anime, comics, and other works.
The Fountain of Youth, the Holy Grail, the Philosopher's Stone, and many other similar powerful artifacts could have arrived in Blue Marble through the Holy Land and the Supernatural Real.
And if they had, he was certain they were being kept secret by higher-ups in the governments of countries.
Natalie obviously didn't believe it and thought Matthew was bragging.
She sighed and said, "Even so, you suffered a great loss by exchanging the Flame-Flame Fruit for it."
"Not at all, not at all. The Flame-Flame Fruit is just a..." Noticing Natalie's eyes, Matthew quickly changed his words: "For me, Kryptonian Bloodline is a more suitable ability."
The girl definitely didn't take such words seriously.
After all, the Logia Devil Fruit was an outstanding talent that belonged to the top tier in the Holy Land and was recognized worldwide.
Among the world's top powerhouses, several possessed logia-type devil fruits.
Natalie believes that no matter how good the Kryptonian Bloodline was, it could never be better than the Flame-Flame Fruit!
She looked deeply into Matthew's eyes and suddenly said, "Matthew, thank you!!"
Upon hearing this, Matthew knew that everything he had said was in vain.
"Forget it, you'll understand in the future."
At that time, there was a sudden knock on the door.
Matthew went to open the door and found the tavern owner standing there.
The owner had very pale skin and extremely striking eyes; however, she was significantly overweight.
The owner was holding a tray with drinks and food on it.
Seeing that the window of the room was still open, the tavern owner immediately said, "Guests, it's going to be dark soon, please don't open the window anymore."
As she spoke, she brought the drinks and food into the room, and then continued, "This is our signature rum and freshly baked bread with grilled meat. Eat it while it's hot. I'll bring hot water later."
Seeing the owner about to leave, Matthew immediately asked: "Boss, I want to know what will happen here after dark?"
Hearing this question, the tavern owner's face changed. But she refused to say anything.
Even though Matthew expressed his willingness to use all his silver coins to purchase the information, she still refused without hesitation and quickly left the room.
When the door of the room was closed again, Matthew and Natalie both frowned.
In fact, this was not the first time the two had encountered this.
When they were looking for a place to stay, the two asked passers-by.
The reactions of passersby were the same as those of the tavern owner just now!
Apparently, the subject of what happened at night was considered taboo by many people, and they avoided discussing it.
"It won't be long until evening, anyway, let's wait!" Matthew said, and Natalie nodded.
Suddenly, they both looked at the food and drinks on the table at the same time.
Matthew didn't know what kind of animal this meat was from. Although it looked a little burnt, it was extremely fragrant. The tempting aroma filled the entire room and made one's appetite increase just by smelling it!
Additionally, the rum bottle had an attractive aroma, enticing people to take a sip.
"There's something wrong with this meat." Matthew frowned immediately. "And this rum..."
He had a high mental attribute.
The mental attributes were related to a person's six senses and will. The higher the mental attributes, the sharper the six senses would be.
Matthew vaguely felt that the aroma of the wine and meat had a hallucinogenic effect.
"Yes, something is wrong. There are some hallucinogenic drugs mixed in it."
Natalie's mental attributes were also exceptionally high, and she possessed a brilliant mind.
Then she added, "This city isn't large and has no animal husbandry. The origin of this meat is unknown!"
This alone was enough to illustrate the problem.
"It seems we won't be able to enjoy this feast," Matthew said with a smile. "It smells quite delicious!"
In fact, even if the rum and meat weren't tempered, the two of them would not eat them.
This was the dangerous supernatural realm. Who would be so bold as to eat and drink casually here?
The mission would only last twelve hours.
Even if they didn't eat, drink, or sleep, it was not difficult to get through it.
Then, Natalie suddenly came to the table, broke the baked bread on the table, removed some of it, and threw it under the bed, pretending that they had eaten it.
She also poured two half cups of rum and placed them on the left and right sides of the table.
Matthew understood what Natalie meant as soon as he saw it.
He smiled and appreciated Natalie's idea. He took the initiative to cooperate with Natalie and sat at the table.
Soon, the table became a mess, with food and drinks scattered everywhere.
A moment later, hearing footsteps outside, Matthew immediately closed his eyes, tilted his head, and pretended to doze off in his chair. Natalie, on the other hand, slumped over the table, pretending to be drunk.
They both pretended that they were unconscious.
