Chapter 2 - PROLOGUE

NARRATOR

"My lady, I never confessed… how I fell in love with your smile, your heart, your mind, and every little thing that makes you… who you are... I beg you, let me hear your voice for one last time… before silence… takes its hold… upon me…" said the King of Verdia, wounded on the throne with a faint smile tugging on his lips and his eyes pleading. He is wrapped in the finest silk and extravagant accessories; however, a sword is plunged into his chest. He moves his hand and touches the lips of an equally adorned woman. His royal blood trickles down the blade onto the gown.

"Your Highness?" says his queen, her lips trembling. She brushes her hand over the wound, only to slick blood reeking of regret on her hands. She brings her hand closer to her face to get a clear vision of the glimmering red liquid.

The King of Verdia caresses her cheek, which is damp with tears. Her eyes shift from the blood to the eyes of her king. They look at each other silently. They have no time to waste. She pulls her king towards herself and kisses him lightly. His eyes widened in bewilderment. "Our parting… present?" he asks. "Yes, my king, my lord husband, my love." A faint smile takes shape on his face and goes off to eternal rest.

Shook by the hand falling from her cheek, the queen says in a trembling voice, "Your Highness? You... you loved me?" She smiles. She looks up at the sound of a sword screeching on the floor and fading footsteps. Her eyes widen instantly, and the Queen of Verdia turns around. "Wait, you vile demon!" she roars hysterically. "Why!? Why!?" She wails, holding her beloved in her two hands. "He thought of you as his confidant, his friend. Is this how he expected you to treat him? First, you killed her, and now you would strike down all who dare to love? What has turned your heart so cold? Do you truly believe she would have done the same? Tell me, who am I speaking to now? Ha! Very well then!" She takes out the dagger from the sheath attached to the king's belt and rises. Thorny vines come out wriggling from the ground. Her hair tangles with the forceful wind. She rises up in the air, and her eyes give off a white light. "I, Queen of Verdia, do lay this grievous curse upon Duke Cesare. You shall perish in torment and be reborn time without number until at last you learn the true value of love." The dagger shines with bright white light, and she stabs it in her heart. She masks her pain through a smile as she joins her beloved husband in the afterlife. The power from the stabbing spread across miles. None remain, not a soul, not a tree, not a brick, just the queen lying dead on the chest of her king, engulfed in thorny vines.

While in the present day, in a different world, a girl awaits her fate.

A little girl approached a young lady. That young lady had short hair that reached her shoulders, bright, beautiful eyes, and a lovely smile that perfectly complemented her name, 'Iseul,' but maybe not her personality.

"Sister!Thatmanacrossthestreetgavemethisflowerand…" the little girl stopped. Iseul looked across the street, searching for someone, and without looking, she asked, "And?" The little girl replied, "Andaskedmetogivethistoyou." She passed her a bouquet of clove pink flowers and ran away. "W.T.F.?" She looked confused. She looked across the street again to find the stranger and exclaimed, "Joonwoo!"

A tall, cute, handsome boy walks up to her, like some 'prince charming' with a rose between his lips, more like a 'Black Rose Of Versailles' comic. (Not the rose, though.) He has light brown hair in a side-parted perm, is dressed in a t-shirt and baggy jeans with a belt bag, and is lean yet fairly built.

She raised her eyebrows and exclaimed, "Jesus Christ! I thought you were some-!"

[Ugh! These spams.]

"Creep? Stalker? Psycho? Saesang?" Joonwoo cut through.

Unable to find a new word, "No", she looked away.

"Then are we ready to start our date?"

"Not-!, she was about to burst, but controlled herself. "...a date."

He laughed, and she walked past him.
