Chapter 3 - Ch3 - Chaos...

"AAAH?!!?"

"W-what?"

"Holly!!?"

Looking outside, their already tense bodies gave in, nearly collapsing.

It was gore… nothing but pure gore.

A few children hiccupped through sobs. "M-mother… I wanna see my mother…"

"I-is it a nightmare?"

"We should run!"

"GAAAAHH!! PLEASE, PLEEASE HELP ME!!"

"AAAAAH!!"

"AAAAH! MY ARM!"

As the zombies from the lower floors reached theirs, the sounds echoed from behind the walls.

Teacher Hue looked at her phone, sweat dripping from her forehead.

She called her husband several times in just a second, but he wasn't answering her calls.

The more terrifying cries she heard, the whiter her already pale complexion became.

Outside was chaos. The whole class was chaos. And her mind wasn't in any condition to make a wise choice.

As she began to lose herself, she remembered something and turned toward the door.

She stared at the three boys and instantly made a decision. Raising her voice over the noise, she shouted, "Yuki! What should we do!?"

At that moment, other than Yuki, no one came to her mind. If the little black-haired kid wasn't there to help, the whole class—she didn't even want to imagine it.

Yuki, feeling exhausted, still stood on his feet, knowing what might happen if he won't help.

The zombies were already on their floor, and at some point, all those terrifying cries were going to end.

"Teacher, first," he said, pointing toward the terrified classmates, "they need to be quiet before the chaos outside gets closer."

Teacher Hue instantly caught the hint and walked toward the curtain near her table. She pointed at the other curtains. "You three, close the curtains and make them stay quiet."

Yuki nodded and walked toward the crying students, while the other two followed, having also figured out what would happen if they're not ready.

The teacher pushed students aside and raised a finger to her lips in a clear shh gesture.

"Quiet."

"But, Teac—"

She glared at the speaking student with pure authority, making the poor boy shut up instantly.

Yuki pointed toward Teacher Hue and said to the students causing trouble, "Teacher Hue wanted me to close it."

The other two—the protagonist and the pink-haired kid—somehow achived to quiet the rest of the class.

As the whole class tried to ignore the cries outside, they turned to the teacher with wet eyes, still clinging to a bit of hope.

Seeing the calmer class, Teacher Hue relaxed slightly and spoke quietly. "Class, we need to stay quiet. Otherwise…" She pointed toward the terrifying screams coming from the neighboring classroom. "We will be next."

Some students gulped. Some eyes widened. Some of the hysterically crying kids went silent instantly.

The brown haired girl who had first seen the scene outside asked despairingly, "Teacher, what will we do now? I want to see my mother… Will I ever—"

PAT! PAT! PAT!

A girl's cries burst out. "PLEASE OPEN THE DOOR! PLEASE OPEN THE DOOR!!

I KNOW THERE ARE PEOPLE INSIDE! PLEASE LET ME IN!"

The class froze.

Twenty students and their teacher looked at each other, not knowing what to do.

They wanted to help, but… they were scared. They hesitated.

Then, out of nowhere, the three brave boys rushed forward and tried to drag the cabinet away from the door.

"W-what?!" Yuki couldn't believe his eyes. What kind of bullshit was this?!

It was obviously a terrible choice. In every novel, series, and game, this was a death flag.

All his efforts were about to collapse just like that.

"Don't—don't! What are you doing?!" Yuki grabbed one of the boys.

But the dark-haired boy shoved Yuki aside, nearly knocking him to the ground. "She's alive! We can't just let her die!"

The trio pushed the wooden cabinet harder, completely ignoring Yuki.

Though nearly knocked to the ground, Yuki steadied himself without hesitation and shouted, "If you open that door, you three will kill everyone in this class. She already attracted them. It's too late for her."

The whole class grew loud at his words.

Hearing him—and the class's unease—the trio hesitated. "It's not right… we can't… we can't," The girl's crying tore at them, leaving them conflicted.

The argument grew frantic.

The wooden cabinet cracked.

Then the pink-haired guy sighed. "You guys really wanna die that badly, huh?"

He grabbed two of them and slammed them to the floor.

Only the black-haired boy remained, but his strength alone wasn't enough to push the remaining distance.

The classroom grew quieter as they realized they were safe, though their eyes flickered between Yuki's group and the crying girl outside.

They had opinions too, but… that was all they had.

The black-haired boy and the other two felt deeply wronged, but they didn't fight back.

They weren't sure anymore—especially when Yuki looked so certain about his decision.

"PLEEASE—!"

Something slammed against the door with a heavy thud.

The scream outside turned into a choking sound.

Then… it stopped.

The school kept screaming.

That voice didn't.

A wet sound followed.

Slow.

Disgusting.

Chewing.

The cabinet shook.

Everyone froze.

They listened to the wet, sickening chewing sounds.

No one made a single sound. No one cared about the screams outside anymore—they only listened to the chewing.

Until the sounds near the door eventually… moved away.

Yuki finally stepped forward and shoved the cabinet back into place with the help of the other two.

No one stopped them. No one spoke.

"…sorry," Yuki whispered from her back, then slid down against the wall, exhausted.

Pink haired boy also slid down next to him, he was looking unaffected, but still looking tired.

While Haru stood there, still looking at the door's direction with his dull lifeless eyes.

The school was still screaming.

And they were stuck here.
