Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: A Man Who Can't Keep It in His Pants?

Logan's cursing was aimed straight at Diana.

Cut off mid-sentence, Diana was furious.

Seeing Diana's large chest heaving, Evelynna tried to comfort her: "Don't bother with him. He doesn't even have a familiar space. We'll make him lose face in the arena later."

Hearing this, the angel Diana finally calmed down. Gritting her teeth, she said: "Later in the arena, I'll make him understand that I'm someone he can only look up to for the rest of his life!"

With that, Diana's eyes flashed with two golden beams, and she left two pitch‑black holes in the waiting area wall.

Evelynna saw this and let out a quiet sigh.

But then she seemed to notice something off: "Diana, when I opened my familiar space just now, that guy didn't look surprised at all. Do you think he might be hiding his strength on purpose?"

"What's the big deal? He's a lowly human who doesn't even go to class. How could he know the secrets of a familiar space?" Diana rolled her eyes. "That lowly human probably doesn't even know that only the top human familiar tamers have a purple familiar space."

Hearing this, Evelynna nodded. She took a deep breath and said, "Then later, we'll teach him a lesson and show him what a purple familiar space really means!

Before long, the bell rang and the arena match officially began.

As the star of today's bout, Evelynna was already standing on her side of the ring.

But the other side was empty—there was no sign of the defender, Logan.

Seeing this, the crowd in the stands started buzzing.

"Why isn't he here yet? Did Logan pass out on a succubus and not get up?"

"Maybe he's afraid of losing face and gave up on this Arena Match. At least he knows his limits."

"Hmph, we came to see the Holy Girl anyway. Who cares about some lucky poor kid?"

"Yeah, let the Holy Girl start already! It's crazy hot…"

On the main stage.

City Lord Natalia and Nancy Priest frowned as they looked at the empty ring.

As two of the few who knew Logan's background, they were sure he would never back down.

"Hmph, could this be some tactic from Logan?" Nancy Priest shot a disappointed look at Natalia. "He wants to stall on purpose to wear down Evelynna's patience and stamina. I don't agree."

"Natalia, I demand Evelynna start on time. If Logan is late, cancel his qualification!"

Hearing this, Natalia frowned even deeper.

She had agreed to let Evelynna join the defense match because she had absolute confidence in Logan's strength.

But now Logan was nowhere to be found, which she hadn't expected at all.

Just as she was thinking about how to buy Logan some time, a noblewoman in fine clothes slowly walked up to her.

"Honorable City Lord, I'm the head of the Federal Betting Company. My name is Julia," the lady said, bowing to Natalia.

As the sole betting partner for this arena match, Julia cared a lot about it going smoothly.

Natalia knew this well. She greeted her warmly while ordering the City Guard to search for Logan.

But just as the soldiers left, Logan appeared in the ring.

He arrived with less than a minute to spare before the official start.

His clothes were messy, his face was pale, and his neck was covered with lipstick marks and hickeys—he looked like he'd overindulged.

If Lilith hadn't been holding him up, it seemed a breeze could knock him over.

The crowd saw this and got riled up.

"Damn, I knew this kid would end up ruined by women sooner or later!"

"Look at him—he looks so drained he might not last a few days."

"Damn it, I thought he was a hero for us common folks, a sign the underdog could rise. I even bet a thousand on him. Boo-hoo!"

"Wait, I bet too! Damn it, I need to change my bet!"

"No way. Unless you add more on Evelynna, you're going to take a big loss!"

"Yeah, yeah! Bet on the Holy Girl to hedge and make up the loss!"

That woke everyone up.

The stands quickly turned chaotic. Some sections even had stampedes.

Natalia looked over and frowned. These were all customers trying to change their bets at the last minute.

But as the bells rang, the Federal Betting Company switched on live odds.

A scrolling message ran across the big screen in the middle of the ring:

Logan: 31 to 1, up by 12.

Evelynna: 3 to 1, down by 3.

Seeing this, the gamblers who had been waiting to hedge started crying in regret.

It meant a hedge that used to cost three times their stake would now take ten times.

"Damn you, Logan! I hate you!"

"Logan, you little punk! Just you wait!"

The gamblers started cracking their knuckles, glaring at Logan, itching to rush into the ring and beat him up.

Some bold ones even threw bags of chips and water bottles onto the ring.

Logan didn't care. He waved to the staff to start taking challengers.

Evelynna saw this and shot him a cold, contemptuous look.

In her mind, when Logan left the prep area to take that call, he probably found a quiet corner and got intimate with the succubus.

With the big match right now, he still couldn't keep it in his pants. A man like that doesn't deserve to be her opponent.

Thinking that, Evelynna began to seriously doubt the rumor that Logan handled the Blood Cultivation Realm crisis on his own.

On the main stage.

Nancy Priest looked at Logan and felt the same disappointment.

She was already half a step into the Legend Realm, and her senses were very sharp.

Logan's state wasn't an act. He really had his essence drained by the succubus.

In this condition, he probably couldn't even kill a mouse.

With that, the weight in Nancy's heart eased.

To keep Evelynna from wavering, she had never told her any intel about Logan's trip to the Blood Cultivation Realm.

In fact, Nancy herself wasn't sure if Evelynna could surpass Logan.

Otherwise, she wouldn't have sealed the Tears of the Gods on the Temple Knights to cheat.

Now that Logan had ruined his own chance, Nancy finally relaxed.

Then the rolling odds on the big screen caught her eye, and she remembered how many resources she had poured into Evelynna.

"It's time to make some money back." She turned to Julia. "Ms. Julia, as clergy I shouldn't take part in gambling."

"But to show support for the Holy Girl, I'll put in my own money and bet on Evelynna. Please handle it for me—and keep it quiet."

"When Julia heard that Nancy Priest wanted to place a bet, her eyes lit up. She stood and bowed. "It would be my honor. How much would you like to wager, Your Highness?"

"Fifty million!" Nancy Priest said crisply, picking up her phone to start the transfer.

Watching them discuss the bet, Natalia felt a wave of irritation. She clenched her teeth and muttered, "Logan, this had better be your plan."

Meanwhile, at the military drill grounds.

Logan and Evelynna's opponents stepped onto the ring at the same time.

The two challengers in the first round were both elite-level fighters from the City Guard.

They were well trained. As soon as they came on, they summoned their familiars—both were Red Phosphorus Pythons.

Seeing the yellow light rise from the two fighters, Logan quickly figured out the details of their familiars:

[Species: Red Phosphorus Python]

[Attribute: Inferno]

[Rank: C-level, 5 stars]

[Stage: Elite 3 stars]

[Traits: Explosive Scales, Poison Fangs]

[Skills: Explosive Bind, Burning Ray]

[Stats: Power 38, Stamina 39, Mind 37, Agility 47]

Seeing these stats, Logan muttered to himself. Natalia really was ruthless, actually sending an Elite 3-star familiar tamer to challenge him.

While Logan was scanning the info, a fight had already broken out on the opposite ring.

No brawl.

No grappling.

With just two blinding flashes, the Red Phosphorus Pythons and the City Guard fighters on the other side were all badly hurt and fell to the ground.

Seeing the pitch-black wounds on the man and the beast, the crowd gasped.

When they turned to check Logan's side, everyone was stunned.
