Chapter 7 - Humiliation

Aurora

It's almost dusk by the time I arrive home. I'm totally spent, and right now all I just want is to slump in my bed and sleep for a very long time.

Driving towards my garage, I mentally run over my schedule for the next day. Man, it's going to be a whole ass long day tomorrow.

I finally park, and alight from the car. Raphael is sleeping, so I gently undo his seatbelt, and carry him out of the car into the house.

As I approach the front door, one of maids run up to me looking worried.

 "Good evening ma'am."

"Good evening, what's the matter?" I knit my brows together, noticing how worried she looks.

"There's a man, and he wants to see you."

 "Who is he?"

"I don't know. He has been rambling non stop. The security guards tried to chase him away, but he was adamant and insisted on waiting for you," she explains.

I narrow my eyes, "I'm not expecting a visitor, so who could it be?" I mutter.

"Thank you. I'll handle things from here," I walk through the front door into my living room.

Someone is sitting on one of the couches backing me.

 "Hello?" I call out.

At the sound of my voice, the 'visitor' looks over his shoulder.

Unfortunately, it's the last person I'm hoping to ever have as a visitor.

Our eyes meet, and a small, creepy smile paints his lips.

 "Welcome back," he stands up.

"How did you even find out where I lived?" I blink, looking him up and down.

He shrugs his shoulders, "I just.."

"Zuriel please. I can't deal with you right now. Leave from here."

"I just want you to hear me out. That's all I ask," he clasps his hands together.

"After literally embarrassing me almost six hours ago?" I narrow my eyes.

He clears his throat, "C-can we just talk?"

I stand there with Raphael still in my arms, staring at this joke of a man. Suddenly, a mischievous thought enters my head, and I can't help but smirk at the thought.

I signal for a maid to come get Raphael, and take him up to his room.

I finally straighten my dress and sit down, "What do you want to talk about?"

He fidgets with his fingers, as he looks me in the eye, "Well.."

"I don't have all evening to do this with you. Go straight to the point."

He swallows, his eyes darting, "Of course. I was wondering if.."

"Yes?" I roll my eyes, pursing my lips as he continues fidgeting for whatsoever reason.

"I didn't believe you would actually turn out this way. I'm really surprised Aurora," he starts.

I furrow my brows, "You were expecting me to become a punching bag for you forever?" I scoff, "Of course it's a surprise, I'm not a fool."

He laughs nervously, "I have officially come back to ask for your forgiveness. I was foolish– please forgive me Aurora."

I pause watching his face. His eyes are still avoiding mine, and his lips slightly trembles.

"Is that all you have to say?" I finally speak up.

"I also want to see my.."

"I already told you no," I immediately raise up my hand, "I will not let you see him."

"He is my son too," he protests.

I throw my head back, laughing dryly.

"'It's either you kill yourself, or you kill yourself.' Do those words perhaps sound familiar to you?" I smirk.

His eyes widen, as he drops to his knees, "Aurora I was–"

"Stupid and heartless. You wanted to kill him all for your selfish gains. Good thing I was brave enough to leave you, goodness knows what would have happened to me," I sigh, rising to my feet.

"I'm tired of you. You can leave."

"Aurora please, just give me a second chance," he clasps his hands together, his eyes beginning to well up with tears.

"Save your tears. I will need them when you see me getting married to your brother," I brush past him towards the stairs.

 Silence.

My chest clenches as I say those words, my heart threatening to explode in such a confinement. The room suddenly feels like it has been placed in a tiny box.

"You can't possibly be serious. You can't get married to him!" His sharp voice echoes off the walls.

"Too bad I already am," I ascend the stairs, my shoulders slumping with annoyance.

"You don't know the kind of person he is. You literally just met him!"

I stop in my tracks. My head is slightly spinning. His words do make some sense in it, but not to me.

I look over my shoulder, letting the grin that had been fighting to surface, reveal itself.

"I don't know what's better. Seeing you all messed up right now, or the fact that you'd be worse in the future," I shake my head, a sharp whistle like laugh leaving my mouth.

"Please get the fuck out of here Zuriel, I don't want you around me anymore," I turn around, and continue to ascend the stairs.

"Have you suddenly forgotten what we shared? I thought you loved me? I thought I was the–"

The blood in my head pounds furiously. Rage grips me by the chest, spreading to the other parts of my body as I whip around and march down the stairs.

What did we share?

You have no idea what we shared Zuriel!" I snap, getting to the point where he is rooted to the ground.

"Do you know why? Because you were a heatless, cold, and shameless man who apparently married me because you would rather not hurt my father. Isn't that right?"

He opens his mouth to say something, but I hold up my hand, "You must be a knucklehead to think that I would fall at your feet the moment you called my name," a bitter laugh escapes my lips, "I.. am no longer.. a weak nobody, Zuriel."

My voice begins to tremble. The base of my throat is now hurting as I'm trying so hard not to cry in front of this ingrate.

"You made me a toy for six years, but that's not happening anymore. I'm now free from you," I point a finger at him, "Don't you dare, don't even think of it, don't you ever say we shared something," I lower my voice till it's barely a whisper.

"Now, get the fuck out of this place before I humiliate you even further," I point to the door, "Get out!"

He stands here, his eyes still bulging out of his sockets, his jaws slacked.

Without saying anything else, he turns around and walks towards the door, then he disappears.

Once he's gone, I crash into a sofa, my sobs filling the room.

"I will make your life a living hell too. Just you watch."
