Hated men.

She hated men.

Whether they just abandoned you, they cheated on you, harassed you, thought they were in charge- she hated it. She knew men like no other because she was raised by one. Her father had shown her different men, different faces with the same old brain.

He was no different.

He didn't bother lying to her because she was a smart young girl who knew things she shouldn't have from a young age. She was only 7 when she found out all her father's secrets.

As evil as her dad was, he was her mentor. He was the one who opened her eyes and showed her how men should be. How they thought. Now, a 24 year old woman, thought like a man but acting, like the lady she was.

Cold hearted, maybe. She had 0 to none empathy in her heart and when she set her mind on something...

She knew she'd accomplish it.

"Nichole,"

"Father dear," She grinned. She was a sadist. "Should I remind you, that you're attending an event tomorrow?"

"No you do not," I almost roll my eyes by his continuous calendar reminders. "I don't need you reminding me of things I already have planned out. And your nagging, actually annoys me. I'd appreciate it, if you just let me get my beauty sleep."

"I'd appreciate it if you actually took this seriously. There's a lot of money-"

"Whoa, stop there, Roberto." I look at him dead in the eye, using his ID name. "You advice, doesn't matter. The money I'm gonna make, I'll decide what I'm going to with that,"

Don't get her wrong, her father may have been her mentor but that doesn't mean he was the greatest father to her. "Nichole," he glares.

"Roberto." She challengers. She smirks as he glares and says nothing. "That's what I thought, father. Now, I have to get going. Toodles!" She blows him a kiss, grabbing her clutch as her heels make contact with the floor.

Tomorrow had come.

A

soft satisfying smile was plastered across her face when an too familiar face was dancing with her. In her ebony flat ironed hair, stopped right above her butt. Her edges where sleeked back, as she blinked through her artificial thick black lashes. She wore an elegant but sexy looking black fitted dress, that was beaming with the amount of sparkle the dress had. It had a slit that exposed her thigh and also brought out her beautiful brown skin.

He couldn't bite his tongue.

"You look absolutely, stunning." he said, admiring the woman in front of him. She suppressed a, 'I know' and thanked him, genuinely.

"I've really missed staring into your beautiful eyes," Nichole never really understood the obsession others had with her eyes. They were a plain black, big too. She just saw them as black. Like her childhood. Nichole and Bruno, the man that she was dancing with, stood outside now. Shoulder to shoulder as they both star gazed.

"It's beautiful out here," She whispered. The words falling out her mouth with no intention of him hearing- it just came out. "It doesn't compare with you,"

And here it begins.

Eye to eye, that's where Nichole always saw the truth. In their eyes. She saw it all, she saw what even she couldn't deny. "Damn it to hell I feel like I'm falling for you by the second,"

She bites her lip. Not saying anything. Her plan going oh-so-smoothly. "I love you Nichole, so much." he muses, his hands wrapped around her tenaciously, afraid she might disappear if he didn't. His voice had nothing but sincerity and he wasn't the type just to fall for anybody, but she had definitely made it happen.

Without even trying, she already won.

"Love? Bruno, come on," she chuckled, taking it as a simple joke but even she couldn't deny nor ignore the sincerity in his words, and his intense gaze. "I don't know how it happened. I just simply fell in love with you," she freezes.

She didn't know why it shocked her so much. She expected this. She knew this.

"Everything about you is just mesmerizing,"

No.

"Your laugh, your voice, your energy that never fails to make my day,"

Please stop.

"Your smile. Oh that beautiful smile, Nichole,"

Stop it.

"My father told me he knew- from the beginning who was the woman for him," The edges of his lips twitched and he met my eyes once again. His gaze was less intense. It was gentle. With his delicately smooth voice that rung in her ears softly. "The moment he first saw her- and I've found my one. I've finally found my soulmate. And it's you."

Oh no.

The word love didn't exist to her. It didn't necessarily mean anything, she never experienced it. She's never loved anybody.

"No," I push him away and my mistake was to make eye contact with him. Because that's when I spot one emotion, that turned into two, three and just kept turning into more. "There's- no." I say not making any sense at all. "I don't love you, Bruno. I didn't meet you to fall in love with you. I don't know what was going through that head of yours, I don't know what you were thinking but whatever it is- cancel it. Right now. I don't know a thing about love. "

"N-"

"I'm a loner. And I don't plan on changing."

And she turned her heel, not ever looking back.

She wished she knew how to love. She wish she felt, but she knew that wasn't going to happen soon. Maybe some day, but she wasn't asking for it. It'll come. Because love comes, even if you're looking for it.
