Chapter 114 - hear my side of the story

Cane's POV

The air in the car felt thick and heavy on the drive home. Tiffany's little show at the park had poisoned the whole afternoon.

Stephanie had taken the kids to the park for relaxation and wanting to calm the tension and trauma of what happened. Despite her not wanting me to, I followed and now Tiffany had to ruin it all.

I kept my eyes on the road, but I could feel Stephanie in the passenger seat. She was sitting too still. Her hands were clenched in her lap. Every few seconds, she'd let out a short, tight breath. It wasn't sadness. It was pure, hot anger. The kind that burns you up from the inside.

In the back, the kids were quiet. Too quiet. They could always feel the weather in our house. Right now, it was a storm.

I pulled into the driveway. "We're home," I said, my voice too loud for the quiet car.

Stephanie just nodded, got out, and walked straight into the house. The door didn't slam, but it closed with a firm, final sound.
