"Hey, hurry up and find her. The White Witch could not have gone too far. She was gravely injured last night by Miss Emma. Now is our chance to take her out."
Reeze Spencer looked at the young witches talking on the lower floor of the tavern she was eating at.
She narrowed her eyes and used her magic. Immediately, the three young witches were crushed as the chandelier came crashing down on their heads.
"W-What happened-!"
The people wondered as they looked at the young girls who suddenly died. But Reeze Spencer stood up to walk out. She had no desire to stay in the tavern any longer than she had to.
"My body feels much lighter compared to before. Even the side effects of potions that I experience are no longer there. Just what kind of magic did the shopkeeper use?"
Reeze Spencer asked as she moved around.
Her wounds had not healed, and yet, she was not in pain. That could only be because of the use of magic. But it was unlike any magic she had seen before.
Even she, as someone hailed with a title, could not reproduce it.
"I better get out of here before the police arrive. Those pesky dogs have been getting too close to our secrets these days."
Reeze complained as she quickly left the tavern. She had a lot she needed to research, especially regarding the shopkeeper.
After all, not only had the shopkeeper scoffed at her offer of help and rejected her, but he had also somehow made her unable to use magic in his shop.
Just how powerful was the shopkeeper to be able to do that?
And on top of all that, he had even warned Reeze to be careful about other factions around his shop, which meant that not only was he aware of the other species, but also had dealings with them.
That was almost unheard of since most supernatural creatures were too proud to make acquaintances outside their own species.
"Hmm, what shopkeeper… should I even try to find his secret? What if it gets me in trouble… tsk, what the heck am I thinking about…."
Reeze quickly shook her head to get rid of that ridiculous thought.
She was the White Witch and she had nothing to worry about… or so she believed. But her instincts kept warning her to not mess with the shopkeeper.
He was someone beyond her grasp, and she would only be digging her own grave if she went ahead to dig up his secrets.

"Ugh, finally, some peace and quiet. I never thought I would miss it so much."
I relaxed as I finally finished the day.
A small part of my brain kept worrying that I would get in trouble for helping that lady last night, but nothing happened the whole day.
The only thing of note was the fact that the puppy finally started on solid food, so I could give it the meat of the divine goat tomorrow.
I was busy packing up my stuff after a good day when I heard a knock at the door. I quickly headed toward it to see who it was.
But the person who stood in front of me made a rude expression before he pushed past me to get inside my shop.
"Excuse me, but may I know who you are and what you are doing here? You are trespassing on private property."
I reminded the man, but he just scoffed at me before he started to push my books aside.
"We are looking for a killer in these parts, kid. If you know what is good for you, you would keep your mouth shut and cooperate with us. Otherwise, who knows what could happen to you."
The man told me as he kept pushing forward, and I suddenly felt my feet go cold.
Suddenly, helping out that lady last night did not sound like a good idea after all, and I wanted to get more information out of the officer without sounding suspicious.
"A killer? What kind of killer is on the loose?"
I asked the officer, and he gave me a look filled with disdain before he answered.
"Tsk, what's it to you? You do not need to worry about the killer; you should just worry about cooperating with us… what's that door?"
The officer asked as he pointed toward my office, and I quickly opened the door for him to enter.
"This is a separate office. Please be careful around here as I have a new puppy…."
As soon as I spoke, the puppy started to growl as he looked at the officer. The officer tensed as well and took a step back before he coughed.
Fear flashed across the officer's eyes before he quickly got out of the room.
"I-I see. Everyone, we are done here and we are leaving. Shopkeeper, you better be careful. These parts are not safe around night. We just had a murder during the early hours today."
The officer warned me, and I suddenly felt a wave of relief hit me.
If the murder happened in the early hours, then it was unlikely that Reeze Spencer had committed it. After all, she was still tied up in my office during that time… for safety reasons.
As I walked toward the door, my hand got cut by a bookshelf.
The officer turned, and I felt like I needed to speak up.
"I-I see. I will be sure to be careful, officer. Hmm, by the way… are you sure you are alright? Your eyes look a little redder than before—"
"I am fine. You do not need to worry about anything… I should get going now."
The officer made a quick dash, and I sighed before I looked at my hand. But instead, I noticed something weird.
Instead of a familiar red, my hand had a yellowish-golden hue to it. My blood was nowhere to be seen either, but I was sure a few drops had escaped me.
"How weird… maybe it's because I am no longer human. Is my blood golden now?"
I asked as I felt the desire to check.
But at the same time, I did not want to check either. I wanted to remain blissfully ignorant of what was going on.
My decision was made for me when the puppy whined, and I decided to go toward him to check what happened.
And I forgot what just happened with my blood and the officer in no time.
But just because I was fine did not mean everyone was fine as well.
There was someone out there who seemed to be struggling to maintain their identity, and my blood had enticed them even more.
