Chapter 131 - Chapter 131: Yui’s Charm

He concealed the unnecessary dead lines.

What remained was a single death line belonging to a foreign world Magano(*Parallel Dimension).

With just a flick of his finger, the line shattered.

"Parallel Dimension is collapsing!"

Chinu, who shared a connection with Parallel Dimension, immediately sensed something was wrong the moment Nanashi made his move.

Parallel Dimension's distorted dimension was unraveling—falling apart.

"If Parallel Dimension is destroyed, will you die?" Nanashi asked curiously.

Chinu lowered her head in fear, her voice trembling. "Master, though I'm connected to Parallel Dimension, I won't cease to exist if it's destroyed. However, once the disaster field disappears, Kegare will no longer be produced… and my power will stop growing."

Not that she desired more power in the first place.

Nanashi gave a satisfied nod. "That's fine. Let's go. This place is about to vanish."

[Ding! You have eliminated one of the doomsday triggers—Disaster and Kegare. Awarded: 1,000,000 Doomsday Points!]

Combined with the 1.5 million points from eliminating Kegare, Basara, and the King of Kegare, Nanashi now had a total of 2.5 million.

Elsewhere…

Yui and Yumiko, who had witnessed the event firsthand, had also learned more about the Paranormal Research Club through Megumi.

Meanwhile, Yukino was speaking with Benio Adashino.

Using just a few carefully chosen words, she coaxed out information about Parallel Dimension, Kegare, Basara, Onmyoji, and more.

If Yukino had to describe this girl, she'd say: naïve but honest.

She used the same rhetorical tricks her older sister once used on her—and it worked.

Yukino felt a bit guilty about it.

But helping Nanashi resolve his problems was something she considered her responsibility—as his wife.

A little guilt? Worth it.

More and more, Yukino was starting to resemble her sister—and she didn't mind.

In her sister's words: This is what it means to grow up, to let go of childish idealism.

And yes, that included learning certain unspeakable techniques and poses from her.

Crash!

The door to the Paranormal Research Club flung open.

Nanashi had returned.

Barely a few minutes had passed since the students' return, and the break wasn't over yet.

But he wasn't alone.

Behind him were two petite girls—mirror images of one another except for their skin color—both dressed in traditional Onmyoji attire.

"Are they also Onmyoji?" Benio asked instinctively.

Usually, Basara could be identified by their black sclera.

But Chinu's eyes were normal.

So at first glance, Benio didn't suspect anything.

The fair-skinned girl floating in the air proudly placed her hands on her hips. "I'm Onmyoji, Abe no Seimei."

The darker-skinned girl glanced at her with mild contempt. "I'm Basara—Chinu."

"Abe no Seimei? And… a Basara!?" Benio's eyes widened.

These two—polar opposites—appeared side by side?

Wasn't Lord Abe no Seimei supposed to be dead?

No matter what—Basara was still Kegare!

Benio drew her twin swords, ready to fight.

"Hm? Are you this generation's Twin Star?" Abe no Seimei sensed the power of Star within Benio.

After a brief pause, she sighed. "But with the disaster and Kegare gone, the Twin Star Onmyoji no longer serves any purpose."

"What do you mean gone?" Benio frowned, deeply unsettled.

"I mean exactly that. The disaster, King of Kegare, Basara, all of them—gone. Destroyed by that lord next to you," Abe no Seimei said, pointing at Nanashi.

Benio was speechless.

The thousand-year war between Onmyoji and Kegare... ended?

But how? How could someone like Nanashi even exist?

"???"

Benio still didn't believe it. Her eyes narrowed as she stared at Chinu.

"She's still a Basara, isn't she?"

Chinu offered a gentle smile. "I am merely the master's servant."

"Thats right," Nanashi said casually. "Chinu's under my control now—basically a shikigami."

"!!!"

Benio doubted her ears.

Was it even possible to turn a Basara into a shikigami?

Whether she accepted it or not, the others—Yukino included—already had.

When Parallel Dimension vanished, Yukino had finally felt some relief. The threat was over.

"Nanashi, this is Benio Adashino. She's an Onmyoji," Yukino said, introducing them.

Nanashi nodded. "I figured as much."

He had already guessed her identity.

"Benio Adashino, investigate the matter of Parallel Dimension and the Kegare on your own. Then go back and tell the Onmyoji leader to meet me within a week. Let him know that Abe no Seimei is here—with me."

"…"

"Go on, girl," Abe no Seimei added gently.

"…I understand."

After a moment of hesitation, Benio sheathed her swords, turned, and leapt out the window.

"Eh? She's not using the door?" Marin blinked in surprise.

"Maybe that's just something Onmyoji do," Abe no Seimei said with a nervous chuckle.

Why do I get the feeling this Twin Star is a little… scatterbrained?

[Note: Abe no Seimei 1000 years ago.]

With the strangers gone, attention turned to Yui and Yumiko.

Nanashi's gaze fell on them.

Gulp.

They both swallowed hard.

"Um, Nanashi-kun… you're not going to do anything to us, right?" Yumiko clung to Yui's hand.

After everything she'd seen, her worldview was completely shaken.

She couldn't help but recall the tropes from TV dramas, movies, and novels.

The ones who uncover secrets… always get silenced!

Would they end up at the bottom of Tokyo Bay?

"Don't be ridiculous. No one's silencing anyone," Nanashi said, rolling his eyes as if he'd read her thoughts.

He walked over and sat down beside Megumi and Yukino.

Megumi placed her hands on his shoulders.

Nanashi let out a comfortable sigh, eyes half-closed, before speaking.

"I have a better solution than killing to silence witnesses," he said.

"For example, I could erase your memories—you'd forget all of this ever happened."

"I don't want that!"

Before he even finished, Yui shot up like a startled cat, her eyes red and intense.

"I absolutely don't want to forget! I want to know more about you Nanashi-kun!"

The words sounded dangerously close to a confession. Everyone in the room exchanged looks.

Yukino shook her head quietly.

As someone who had always been close to Yui, she had already noticed the shift in Yui's attitude toward Nanashi.

She had clearly fallen for him—just like Yukino had once done. The difference was, Yui hadn't come to terms with it yet.

"Is this... human emotion?" Chinu mused aloud, watching with interest.

"You've got time to be analyzing that? Do you even realize the state you're in?" Abe no Seimei muttered, floating to her side.

Chinu just smirked. "My situation? I'll be fine as long as I follow my master."

"But what about you? Can your fractured soul even last seven more days without dissolving?"

"…"

Chinu's words reminded her—her soul was still unstable, still fading.

Yui's reaction had been intense—clearly driven by feelings she couldn't let go of.

But Nanashi wasn't the kind of man to remain indecisive.

He acted when the time was right.

So, he stood and walked toward her, his eyes filled with a quiet warmth.

"Yui, do you remember your confession?"

Yui gave a small, hesitant nod.

"As I said back then... I have a lot of girlfriends. And yes, I'm a shameless scumbag. I can't give you any sweet promises or fairy-tale declarations."

"But what I can promise is this—I truly do love you, Yui."

"Will you be my girlfriend?"

Direct words are always better than endless hesitation.

"!!!"

Yumiko, who was standing right next to Yui, was dumbfounded.

He has a lot of girlfriends?

A self-proclaimed scumbag?

And he's asking Yui to be his girlfriend?

No one in their right mind would agree to that... right?

She started to wonder if this was all just some dream.

But reality often outpaces even the wildest fiction.

Tears spilled from Yui's reddened eyes as she threw her arms around Nanashi, her voice trembling with emotion.

"Nanashi-kun, I'm... I'm a terrible person..."

"Back on Yukino's birthday, I—I had this awful thought. I wished that I was the one beside you, not her. I wanted to take her happiness for myself..."

"…"

Yukino raised her eyes slightly but said nothing.

"I want to be with you, Nanashi-kun... but I was afraid. Afraid that I'd just be ruining someone else's happiness."

"…"

Nanashi hadn't expected this.

Yui's silence before... it hadn't been because of his messy relationship history or the other girls in his life.

She had held back because she was afraid of hurting Yukino.

He gently wiped away her tears with both hands and said softly,

"Yui, that's exactly who you are... thoughtful to a fault."

"But from now on, when you're with me, you don't have to look at anyone else's face or read the room."

He cupped her cheeks and kissed her—tenderly, without hesitation.

"Mmm!"

The kiss took her by surprise, but instead of panicking, Yui melted into it.

She held onto him tightly, returning the kiss awkwardly but sincerely.

The moment carried a surreal stillness, as everyone else in the room watched in varying degrees of disbelief.

Miko peeked between her fingers with a flushed face.

Chinu and Abe no Seimei stared curiously, fascinated by human intimacy.

And Yumiko?

She looked like she'd been struck by lightning.

Yui actually said yes?!

She wanted to say something. To stop this madness!

But how could she step in now?

Yui looked so... genuinely happy.

Eventually, the kiss ended.

Yui's cheeks were flushed bright red. She leaned against Nanashi, breathless, her eyes dreamy.

The relationship between them was now sealed—literally—with a kiss.

"...Yui..." Yumiko called out hesitantly.

Yui buried her face in Nanashi's chest and whispered timidly,

"Yumiko... this is my choice."

"…"

What could Yumiko even say to that?

Nanashi had been completely honest about who he was.

And Yui had stepped into it with open eyes.

How could anyone try to talk her out of it now?

Nanashi glanced at Yumiko. "So... do you want your memory erased?"

"Uh…"

The sudden question stunned her.

After a moment of hesitation, she shook her head. "No, I don't."

"You sure?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

"…"

Yumiko thought back to that humiliating moment—being carried by Nanashi while literally wetting herself.

Her face flushed crimson.

Trying to salvage some pride, she pulled Yui away from his arms and declared, "I'm joining your club."

"Why?" Nanashi asked, amused.

"I need to keep an eye on you! Someone has to make sure you don't bully Yui!"

"Yumiko... Nanashi-kun would never bully me," Yui replied sweetly.

"…"

Yumiko suddenly looked like she'd been betrayed.

Yui! Help me save face here!

You're usually the queen of reading the room! Why are you so blind when it comes to Nanashi!?

Seeing her flustered, Nanashi decided to spare her further embarrassment.

"Alright. Then submit an application."

"Okay!" Yumiko replied quickly, relieved.

She looked grateful—but couldn't bring herself to meet Nanashi's eyes.

After all, having an accident in front of a guy, especially a guy you might like, was just too mortifying.

Even thinking about it made her dig her toes into the floor in embarrassment.

Rolling her eyes, she muttered under her breath, "Can't you just erase that one small part of the memory?"

She was, of course, referring to the part about her accident.

The request genuinely surprised Nanashi.

"If you're sure about it, then yes, it's possible. But I'm definitely not going to erase my own memory."

"…"

Yumiko's face turned even redder.

Only her own memory would be gone?

Wasn't that just deceiving herself?

She lowered her head, mumbling, "Forget it, forget it… I trust Nanashi-kun won't go around saying anything stupid."

"I Wont."

This wasn't exactly a topic worth bragging about.

Even if the one who had the accident was a pretty girl, it was still gross. He wasn't some kind of pervert, after all.

With that reassurance, Yumiko finally let out a long breath of relief.

"Yui, come with me. Let's go find the teacher."

"Eh? But Nanashi-kun…"

Yumiko rolled her eyes and dragged Yui away by the arm. "We'll see you later. Help me write the application."

Yui's clingy expression as she was pulled away made the others laugh softly.
