Chapter 60 - Chapter 60

Chapter 60: The Brick Combining Intelligence and Strength

Hell's Kitchen—Batman was still six hundred meters from the micro-tracker planted on Black Cat.

But the Batmobile's Oracle AI issued an alert: the tracking device had been destroyed. This meant Black Cat might be in danger.

No time to think. The Batmobile's roof opened at high speed. The seat's electromagnetic ejection system launched Batman's body diagonally upward with a boom.

Using the grappling hook and Peter's strength, Batman rushed to a building's rooftop at extreme speed.

The night he arrested Scorpion Mac and driver Walker, Batman had already memorized the map of Kingpin's highly suspected hideout. He knew which angles provided direct line of sight to that sixteen-story building, which paths offered the fastest approach.

"Kingpin's already been defeated by that bat. Most of his bones are shattered."

"If I were him, I'd rather commit suicide than live the rest of my life as a cripple."

Bullseye Lester stood in what was once Kingpin's office, five meters from Black Cat.

He no longer wore a black suit but a dark blue bodysuit with a black trench coat over it.

The micro-tracker tossed up and down in his hand. Bullseye's face showed no trace of amusement.

"Turk's a great inventor. He can make canes for Kingpin—he can equally make me some handy weapons."

"He has no interest in continuing to lead Kingpin's remaining forces. But you're different, Black Cat."

Black Cat slowly shook her head, looking at the micro-tracker in Bullseye's hand.

"I have no intention of fighting you for control of Hell's Kitchen's forces."

"Yes, you won't."

Bullseye placed the micro-tracker on Kingpin's desk, then picked up a hood from the desk and pulled it over his face.

Black Cat clenched her fingers nervously. The instant Bullseye's hood covered his eyes, she charged forward. Simultaneously, sharp claws extended from her fingertips beneath the black leather suit—cold light flashing.

Bullseye was Kingpin's chief assassin, his killer. He possessed far more lethal techniques than Black Cat.

Black Cat had only learned martial arts and combat from her father since childhood. Her combat experience fell far short of Bullseye's.

But Bullseye was the murderer who'd directly killed her father, Black Fox. Now that Kingpin and Scorpion Mac were imprisoned, Black Cat's only remaining opponents were Turk and Bullseye.

The mastermind Kingpin had already been toppled. Black Cat no longer expected that Batman to keep helping her. She'd decided to act personally.

Yet even with his eyes covered, Bullseye seemed to have tracked Black Cat's every movement.

Black Cat couldn't even see Bullseye's hand speed clearly. She only glimpsed a blurred arm shadow sweep past—that micro-tracker from the desk was already thrown at Black Cat like a bullet, precisely.

Black Cat dodged, wanting to continue forward but stopped instead, not daring to act rashly.

As Bullseye's hood settled completely, it revealed a new face—everything except the chin covered. The hood was dark blue with three concentric circles centered on the forehead.

Looking exactly like a target.

Simultaneously, Batman had reached a building's top six hundred meters away. Peter's keen vision let him see Bullseye's figure through the glass window.

Currently Bullseye held several playing cards between his fingertips. The seemingly soft paper made Black Cat afraid to move recklessly.

Her father's cause of death was his throat sliced by a playing card. She knew Bullseye could turn flying cards into lethal weapons.

"Batarangs won't fly that far. Reaching there takes time. I need something with mass that can be thrown."

Batman lacked attack methods at this range. He looked left and right, then heavily punched a nearby wall, breaking off half a brick from the shattered hole.

"I need to calculate movement trajectory, wind speed, gravity. Choose the optimal throwing angle and timing. Ensure perfect accuracy."

"My strength can't be too strong or too weak. The brick needs to shatter glass then continue forward, hitting Bullseye's forehead."

No time for excessive thinking. After calculating everything, Batman gripped the brick, arm drawing back, then hurling it with force!

BANG—a muffled sound. The brick shot out like a cannonball, vanishing from sight.

"Are you a police informant? Or another gang's mole?" Bullseye wasn't in a hurry to throw his cards. Unhurried, he spoke. "You—"

CRASH!

Before Bullseye finished speaking, a palm-sized brick fragment suddenly flew from outside Kingpin's office window, shattering glass and precisely striking the bullseye on Bullseye's forehead!

One moment speaking leisurely as if he'd already held Black Cat in his palm—the next moment Bullseye was struck on his forehead's bullseye by the suddenly appearing brick, immediately collapsing to the floor!

Black Cat instinctively crouched to hide herself, yet her eyes couldn't help looking toward the brick fragments that shattered into countless pieces after hitting Bullseye's forehead.

"Where'd that brick come from?" That was her only thought right now.

WHOOSH!

Batman's figure crashed through the window. He looked at Bullseye—forehead shattered by the brick, lying unconscious on the ground.

Even calm as Batman was, seeing the bullseye on Bullseye's forehead, he fell silent for a moment.

"You must be wondering why he painted a target on his head." Black Cat stood from her hiding spot after seeing the newcomer was Batman.

Batman gave an almost imperceptible nod.

"Honestly, I don't know either."

Black Cat kicked Bullseye, then found rope to bind him tightly before speaking.

"Where's Turk?" Batman stopped focusing on this guy knocked out with one hit, instead asking Black Cat about Turk's whereabouts.

"Don't know." Black Cat answered honestly. "After you defeated Kingpin at Oscorp, Turk disappeared."

"By the way, was it also you who worked with that security company president and lawyer to prosecute Kingpin?"

Batman didn't deny it. He used black webbing to bind Bullseye again—preventing Black Cat's binding from being insufficiently secure—before speaking:

"I need your cooperation."

"What kind of cooperation?"

Batman's voice was unusually low, yet his words made Black Cat's eyes brighten:

"Announce you defeated Bullseye. Fully take over Kingpin's forces. Have those gang members assemble pretending to launch a territory expansion operation."

"Then let the precinct net them all."

"What about you?" Black Cat quickly asked, fearing Batman would vanish again before finishing.

"I have other plans."

Batman finished speaking. His wide cape rose—his figure also vanishing from the window.

The long night stretched on. Batman was going after SHIELD now.
