Kathmandu, Nepal.
This city is located on the southern slope of the Himalayas. Cold winds do not reach here, and there are warm currents from the Indian Ocean to the south, making the climate quite pleasant.
Kathmandu is considered a tourist city. Thanks to the worldwide renown of the Himalayas and Kathmandu's own historical and cultural heritage, it attracts many foreign tourists.
To develop tourism, the local people have specially learned from and invited chefs from various countries, allowing foreign tourists to taste dishes from many nations.
In addition, there are small shops selling unique Nepalese cultural products throughout the streets and alleys, satisfying tourists' desire to shop.
Architecturally, there are over two thousand large and small temples in Kathmandu, dedicated to many deities. The unique culture is deeply ingrained, and even buildings outside the temples are influenced by its style.
Among the many ancient temples, there is one located in a remote area and without any deities enshrined—this is Kamar-Taj.
Kamar-Taj looks like an inconspicuous temple in Kathmandu. No one would have thought that it cultivates the Sorcerers who protect the World.
Sorcerer Ancient One has cast special magic here, allowing them to practice in peace without worrying about being disturbed by visitors.
Dong—
A deep, melodious bell rang, as if transporting one to another World.
Sorcerer Ancient One's disciples were practicing magic in the square. They were fully concentrated, golden magic dancing between their fingers, finally forming a complex magic array.
"What a magical power," Ailer exclaimed as he looked at the power in the Sorcerers' hands.
Hearing this, Sorcerer Ancient One calmly replied, "No need to envy, child, you have a different path to walk than them."
As she spoke, Sorcerer Ancient One led Ailer to a place with many books, like a library. There was also a sturdy man with an Asian face waiting there for Sorcerer Ancient One and Ailer.
"Teacher," the man respectfully said upon seeing Sorcerer Ancient One.
"Ailer, he is my student. You can call him 'Wang.' For the next period of time, he will guide you in learning basic mystical knowledge," Sorcerer Ancient One introduced to Ailer.
Hearing this, Ailer nodded to the other party, "Hello, Wang, I will be troubling you a lot during this time."
"It's my duty, follow me." Wang seemed like a stern person. He led Ailer to a simple room. The room was sparsely furnished with just a bed, a mirror, a single wardrobe, and a set of table and chairs.
On the bed was a set of clothes, seemingly prepared for Ailer.
"Come to the library to find me after you change," Wang said to Ailer before leaving.
Then, Ailer locked the door. After putting down his essential belongings, he put on the set of clothes.
Soon, Ailer had changed. He wore a blue long robe over a white short shirt, with loose pants and a pair of leather boots.
Shortly after, Ailer returned to the library.
Wang scrutinized Ailer from top to bottom, then nodded in satisfaction and said:
"Good, you look very energetic. As per Teacher's instructions, I have selected several introductory books for you: 'Astronomy,' 'A Thousand Supernatural Creatures,' 'Ancient Persian,' 'Sanskrit,' and 'Introduction to Qi,' 'Mastery of Qi,' and 'Detailed Martial Arts' which Kunlun once shared with us. Your learning process is different from ours, so the books you read are also different."
"So, how many books are there here, approximately?" Ailer immediately became interested upon hearing this.
"About four thousand books, covering all the books written by Sorcerers since the establishment of Kamar-Taj, but you don't need to read that many. You just need to understand the knowledge," Wang stated a number, constantly observing Ailer's expression.
When Ailer first heard this number, he was a bit shocked, but he quickly changed his mindset.
This was a great opportunity to broaden his horizons. As long as he could finish reading the books, Ailer wouldn't have to guess and gamble when encountering mysterious enemies next time.
"Interesting!" A gleam appeared in Ailer's eyes, then he turned and asked, "What if I finish reading all the books here? Are there any other books I can read?"
"That depends on your performance," Wang said sternly. "There are many dangerous books in the library. Only Sorcerers can enter there, and every book must be approved by me before it can be borrowed.
So, first calm down and read these books thoroughly, then think about other things. If you find it boring, you can also find a game console to play. Kamar-Taj is not as secluded as you imagine; Sorcerer Ancient One even has a phone number."
"Okay." Ailer nodded, then took the previously mentioned books from Wang.
Having obtained the books he wanted, Ailer returned to his room to read. He first began reading the books related to Qi.
Madame Gao's Qi cultivation method had problems. That old woman probably couldn't endure it as soon as she cultivated Qi, and started to go down the evil path, relying on time to slowly achieve her current level, so her method was very basic.
The proper Qi cultivation method utilizes every organ in the body, and in later stages, one can even cultivate Qi at any time, which is much more efficient than Madame Gao's breathing method. The learning difficulty also increases; Ailer took two days to master it.
After improving his Qi cultivation method, Ailer divided his daily time into two parts: one part for practicing Kunlun's martial arts techniques to improve his combat ability, and one part for reading Kamar-Taj's books to expand his knowledge and horizons.
......
Time flew by, and half a year quickly passed. The calendar also turned a new page, from 2008 AD to 2009 AD.
After about half a year, Ailer finally finished reading all the introductory books.
After reading these books, Ailer's entire demeanor appeared much calmer. Coupled with his robe attire, he wouldn't feel out of place even if he blended into a group of Sorcerers.
After closing the last book, Ailer let out a long breath. He looked at himself in the mirror; he hadn't groomed himself in a long time, and his hair and beard had grown quite long.
Ailer took out scissors and a manual razor from his luggage. After a simple trim, he went to the library to return the books.
"This is the last one, Wang," Ailer returned the last book to Wang.
Wang took the book from Ailer's hand and then praised, "You have re-established Kamar-Taj's record."
"New record? Who was the previous person?" Ailer asked curiously.
"The previous record was set by a Sorcerer named Kaecilius. He took ten months, while you only took six months and three days," Wang looked at Ailer with a hint of admiration.
That name felt somewhat familiar to Ailer, but he didn't have time to think about who it was, because Sorcerer Ancient One arrived by his side.
"Come, child, let us begin the true spiritual practice."
