Chapter 164 - Chapter 163: I Have an Item That Can Make Atlantis Bow and Kneel

After The Pentagon meeting, Swanwick quickly transformed into Martian Manhunter and arrived at the Hall of Justice via the teleportation bracelet Dane gave him.

"Martian Manhunter?"

Inside the Hall of Justice, Dane was discussing the structure of dreams with Cortana.

Dane had an idea: he wanted to try and create a true soul for Cortana.

This would allow him to transfer her consciousness into the dream, enabling her to be more useful, and her physical body would also be safer.

Just then, he saw Martian Manhunter walk into the hall, looking solemn.

His mind quickly pieced it together, knowing that the Military must be up to something again.

Sure enough, Martian Manhunter activated his psychic abilities, copying his observations from The Pentagon and transmitting them into Dane's brain.

"Biological weapons? How ruthless!" Dane couldn't help but exclaim.

When it comes to being inhumane, the U.S. Army has always been inhumane.

However, this might also be an opportunity.

Due to Dane's intervention, Arthur did not smoothly take over the throne as he did in the movie.

Dane saw more clearly than Atlanna and Vulko that Arthur currently had no desire to be king.

He still yearned for a free lifestyle, which is why the golden trident initially did not accept him.

Compared to the Aquaman who yearned for belonging and recognition years later, the current Arthur did not want to prematurely shoulder responsibility.

However, establishing diplomatic relations between Kahndaq and Atlantis was Dane's predetermined plan, and he would not allow any unexpected deviations.

So, with relations between Atlantis and the Justice League deteriorating, he needed an opportunity to ease tensions with the Atlanteans.

Conveniently, the Military delivered this opportunity right to his doorstep.

So he asked Martian Manhunter, "Do you know how they plan to implement it?"

Martian Manhunter shook his head. "I only know that this matter will not go through any unit under the Military, and that Admiral seems very confident that someone can complete this for him."

Dane thought for a moment, then suddenly asked, "General Sam Lane hasn't visited Vanguard Technology in a while."

Martian Manhunter understood his implication but hesitated. "It couldn't be him, could it? I remember he was reassigned to intelligence work after the Coast City incident."

Dane was noncommittal; who said working in intelligence couldn't stir up trouble?

That place is full of dark secrets!

"Let's see what General Lane has been up to recently."

He had Cortana hack into the official system again, and soon found Lane's reassignment location.

"It turns out to be the CIA."

Speaking of which, this department also had arms dealings with Vanguard Technology; although they used a shell company, Cortana easily saw through it.

Just a few years ago, this shell company even covertly tried to do some bigger "business" with Vanguard.

For example, using the bodies of Soldiers who died on the Middle Eastern battlefields to transport some potent stuff, which Dane refused.

This is a department bold enough to defy heaven, and General Lane is also a daring man; their combination is truly a strong alliance.

Dane continued to investigate General Lane and discovered that he was even in contact with Amanda.

"No wonder…"

No wonder Amanda, whose position had fallen to the bottom, had recently made a comeback, and even risen to a higher level than before.

Dane immediately shifted the focus of his investigation to Checkmate, especially Amanda.

He discovered that this woman's "Suicide Squad" plan had actually been successfully pitched!

And the first person to approve it was Sam Lane.

And Sam Lane's ability to hold his current position as intelligence chief was inseparable from the unwavering support of the Military bigwigs.

So, the operation Martian Manhunter spoke of would, in all likelihood, ultimately fall to the Suicide Squad.

These criminal scum might be ill-equipped for rescue missions, but for sabotage, infiltration, assassination, and terrorist attacks, they are absolutely a sharp blade.

And indeed, just as Dane predicted, the Admiral who strongly advocated for retaliation against Atlantis eventually found Lane.

The intelligence department Lane was in charge of had always been responsible for taking the blame and doing dirty work for various government organizations, so he didn't feel there was anything wrong.

"You want to retaliate against those fish-people, which is correct, but how exactly do you plan to do it?"

General Lane had been there for a long time, and he had naturally acquired the sinister demeanor expected of an intelligence operative, which made the Admiral a bit uncomfortable.

He instinctively leaned back in his chair.

Then he began to explain his plan to General Lane.

"You know, under my command in the Navy department, there's a Military industrial laboratory that specializes in producing some very valuable weapons for us."

"One of those laboratories, backed by LexCorp, has developed a very interesting genetic weapon that can cause heart failure in individuals with specific genetic sequences within a very short period…"

Upon hearing this, Lane's expression was subtle; such a weapon sounded… The Admiral sitting opposite him saw his reaction and directly admitted:

"You're right, when this weapon was being researched, the target was actually the metahumans of the Justice League."

But then he added, somewhat annoyed:

"However, to this day, we still haven't obtained any blood samples from a Justice League member, making it impossible to verify whether this genetic weapon can be effective against them."

"But in clinical trials targeting human genes, it has been proven that the genetic weapon has achieved its original design goals…"

Lane's face twitched slightly. Good heavens, you've created something that could destroy humanity!

If the person in front of him wasn't Lane's long-time friend, he would really want to pull out his pistol from the drawer and shoot him right now.

But the Admiral did not detect General Lane's thoughts and continued to explain:

"We extracted some Atlantean tissue samples from Metropolis and have confirmed that the weapon is equally effective against them.

And through seawater transmission, this weapon can directly penetrate their lungs; they always have to breathe."

"What happens after it's over? Those genetic weapons will spread throughout the entire ocean! What about us humans?"

At this moment, the Admiral showed a meaningful expression:

"That's the power of this weapon; it only works on specific genetic fragments, and it is completely harmless to other organisms that do not contain that gene!"

Lane finally relaxed. If what he said was true, then perhaps this opportunity could be used to wipe out all the Undersea people in one fell swoop?

As long as it benefited the United States, even genocide, he could bring himself to do it.

This matter, let Amanda handle it… While the Naval bigwig and Lane discussed how to carry out genocide against Atlantis, Dane and Martian Manhunter watched their entire performance in the Hall of Justice.

High-definition live broadcast quality, every expression was captured.

Martian Manhunter's face was extremely grim; although he prided himself on having witnessed enough human darkness, he was still shocked beyond measure at this moment.

"What do you plan to do?" he asked Dane in a deep voice.

"At the appropriate time, it will be made public."

When it came to damaging the international reputation of the United States, Dane was always unsparing.

"Then, this matter…"

Dane immediately said, "Leave this matter to me. Just pretend you know nothing."

Based on his trust in him, Martian Manhunter nodded, choosing to follow his advice.

Once Martian Manhunter left, Dane summoned Cortana.

"Cortana."

"I'm here."

Cortana's ethereal body appeared in the hall.

"Help me check on LexCorp's situation."

"Okay." Countless streams of information flashed in Cortana's eyes.

Dane noticed that this time, she took longer than when she had just breached the official firewall.

Lex Luthor, indeed, had some tricks up his sleeve.

But he was, after all, only a genius on Earth. In front of Cortana, the culmination of countless Kryptonian high technologies, the firewall he had built for LexCorp was still breached.

This villain, who had always been in a love-hate relationship with Superman in the Superman series, had all his secrets exposed to Dane for the first time..
