Chapter 159 - Chapter 158: Invasion

Because Orm had been planning for a long time, the Army's assembly was very swift.

Various amphibious warships and sea beasts of different shapes, carrying Atlantean Soldiers, were neatly arranged directly in front of Orm.

This filled his heart with pride; how could the Surface possibly resist such an Army?

"Atlantis—! Listen to me!"

His voice, amplified by a special device, reached every single person's ears.

"We all know that the Surface has long been encroaching upon our seas and poisoning our people!"

"But under the weak rule of successive Kings, we maintained a false peace."

"And this false peace ceased to exist a few days ago? Why?"

Orm shouted, "Because they felt their wings were fully grown, and they actually began to use their weapons to attack our sacred land! And they killed our people!"

"Can you allow this situation? Answer me! Atlantis!"

A deafening roar echoed through the square:

"No!"

"No!"

"No—!"

Orm pressed his hands down, waiting for them to quiet down, then continued, "That's right, we absolutely cannot allow this!"

"So the time has come, under the witness of the gods, to let these people of the Surface know the wrath of Atlantis!"

"For Atlantis!"

The emotions of the entire crowd were incited, and they shouted in unison:

"For Atlantis!!!"

"For Atlantis!!!"

...Metropolis. No one had expected that Orm's first point of attack would be Metropolis!

Clark, who was on a date with Lois Lane, suddenly seemed to hear something. He turned his head, his gaze heavy, towards the coastal area.

"What's wrong, Clark?" Lois noticed his distraction and asked with concern.

"Nothing, Lois, I, I need to use the restroom, wait for me."

With that, Clark apologized and stood up, leaving his seat.

Lois was a little puzzled but didn't suspect anything, continuing to look down at the menu in her hand.

Clark quickly stripped off his jacket in the restroom, revealing the iconic 'S' on his chest, then flew directly out the window.

A soft sonic boom echoed in the air as Clark flew far into the sky in the blink of an eye.

On the coast, the Atlantis Army had officially completed its assembly. Orm inserted his silver trident into a slot on the control panel.

Immediately, a special force field was generated within his mothership, parting the sea to the left and right, like the divine miracle of Moses parting the Red Sea.

It was then that the citizens gathered near the coast finally saw what was hidden beneath the Water: an Army!

"What the..."

Without any declaration of war, one of the Atlantis Soldiers suddenly raised his gun and fired.

A plasma beam flashed a brilliant light, striking one of the onlookers. The person who was shot immediately had his chest pierced by the high-temperature plasma, dying with eyes wide open.

"Ah—!"

The surrounding people, no longer daring to watch, immediately screamed and scattered like birds and beasts, fleeing into Metropolis.

The Atlantis Army began to fire freely, shooting at every Surface creature they saw.

Under the ion beams, the coastal area of Metropolis quickly turned into a sea of Fire.

Many armed citizens tried to fight back, but their small-caliber handguns could barely cause any trouble for the armored and sharp-witted Atlantis Soldiers.

So they could only flee along with the other civilians.

Orm laughed at the sight: "Yes, just like that, run, run!

In the face of Atlantis's power, what else can you do but run?"

However, his laughter did not last long before it abruptly stopped, because in front of where the Atlanteans were landing, a man appeared.

But he, alone, could rival a thousand troops!

The Atlantis Soldiers unhesitatingly unleashed their firepower on the man, but he was unharmed, not even a hair out of place.

"Gods!"

They stared at the man in astonishment, momentarily at a loss.

Clark's expression was serious: "No matter who you are, you should not point your weapons at unarmed civilians!"

In fact, among the civilians who had just fled, many had pulled out their carried handguns, but it was clear that neither Superman nor the Atlanteans paid any attention to this.

"Who is that?" Orm asked, puzzled.

But no one answered him; the Atlanteans generally lacked knowledge of the Surface.

Superman suddenly rose and flew up, his eyes glowing red.

"Your Majesty, he can fly!"

Orm's face darkened, and he said unpleasantly, "I can see that!"

At this moment, Superman's eyes emitted red rays, heating up the weapons in the hands of the Atlantis Soldiers. After reaching a critical point, an explosive shockwave blew the armed Soldiers away.

Clark quickly stopped his heat vision; he hadn't expected the weapons in their hands to be so unstable; he only wanted to disarm them!

But his action meant that the battle had officially begun. All Atlantis Soldiers aimed their guns at him and pulled their triggers.

Plasma beams once again engulfed Superman.

Taking this opportunity, Orm ordered his Soldiers to aim the mothership's main cannon at that position.

When Superman reappeared unharmed before everyone, he was met with a beam of light even thicker than before.

This attack even contained the Water magic of the silver trident, instantly sending Superman flying.

Effective!

Orm immediately discerned one of Superman's weaknesses: magic was effective against him!

He immediately ordered all fleets to mobilize their main cannons and focus their fire on Superman.

At this time, the Military's fighter jets also arrived to provide support. Metropolis was a very important city in the United States, and they would not let it fall.

Moreover, thanks to the "Task Force X" project led by Amanda, and with the guidance of Dr. Shen, a specialist in marine biology, the high-ranking officials had already guessed that these invaders were the legendary Atlanteans.

They just hadn't expected the other party to come so quickly and urgently; this Army was clearly premeditated!

Orm sneered at the fighter jets in the sky. Although the Atlanteans' understanding of Surface technology was still stuck in World War II.

Please give flowers.

But they had known about planes for a long time.

The Atlantis sea warships could fire 360 degrees, so they quickly aimed at a fighter jet and hit its wing with a single shot.

The pilot inside the fighter jet tried to pull the ejection mechanism, but as expected, it jammed.

"Damn it, this again?" the pilot cursed.

Watching the ground get closer and closer, a feeling of despair couldn't help but rise in his heart again.

But a miracle occurred; Superman, who had been under focused attack, suddenly rushed up, held the fighter jet with both hands, and slowly set it down on the ground.

He tore open the fuselage of the fighter jet and pulled out the pilot inside.

"Are you alright?" Superman had his usual sunny smile on his face.

The pilot, a bit dizzy from being shaken, managed to nod.

Clark immediately pulled him behind him. The pilot hadn't understood why yet when a plasma beam once again struck Superman's chest.

"Go quickly! It's not safe here anymore!"

The pilot retreated as instructed.

This time, Superman no longer intended to simply endure the attacks. With his super speed, he swiftly moved in front of the Atlantis Soldiers and used his immense strength to incapacitate them.

Orm felt a little unnerved seeing Superman cut down his Army like grass.

Even he himself couldn't easily throw people dozens of meters away.

He looked at the central area; almost everyone who went in was thrown out, and the ship's cannons couldn't fire on their own people!

But Orm was a man of great ambition, and those who achieve great things usually have a ruthless heart, and he was among the best.

So he immediately ordered his technical officer:

"Activate the force field generator on that man!"

"But Your Majesty, our Soldiers are still..."

"I don't want to say it a second time, do it now!"

Orm didn't want to hear any defiant words at this moment, brutally interrupting the technical officer's speech.

Left with no choice, the technical officer could only obey the command.

So, as Superman was throwing out Soldiers one by one, he suddenly felt the ground around him seem to sink a little.

Before he could understand what was happening, a huge gravitational force suddenly pressed down on him, making him bend at the waist.

However, this amount of gravity clearly couldn't stop his movements. He adapted for a moment and then stood straight again.

But the surrounding Soldiers weren't so lucky; they were immediately pressed to the ground, almost unable to move.

"Continue to increase the power!"

Orm, seeing Superman still full of vigor, coldly gave the order.

"Your Majesty, if we increase the power further, our Soldiers will die!"

Orm turned his head, staring at the speaker with chilling eyes: "I said, increase the output power!"

The technical officer, fearing his authority, complied once again.

This time, the power was greatly intensified. Superman was no longer at ease; he felt as if he was carrying a huge mountain.

And the Soldiers lying on the ground suffered a tragic death, their armor and bodies crushed into a sheet of paper by the gravity field!

This was a gravity weapon!
