Chapter 153 - Chapter 152: The Naive Mera

Mera stared blankly as Dane grabbed the man and took him into the sky, a position she could only look up to.

And the Undersea person grabbed by Dane was about to wet himself; Dane could tell he was trembling even through the armor.

'Now, answer my questions: Whose orders were you following for this operation?

Also, was the Mariana Trench submarine incident your doing?'

This Atlantean Soldier still intended to resist. He wanted to gamble, gamble that he wouldn't die if he fell into the sea.

Atlanteans generally have very high physical strength to resist deep-sea pressure, so a height that would kill a normal human might not kill them.

But Dane wasn't taking him into the sky to intimidate him with height.

He grabbed the opponent's helmet with one hand and exerted a little force. The helmet was torn off, revealing the Atlantean's face.

They looked no different from humans and had no gills.

After Dane pulled off his helmet, the Water inside the helmet also drained away as the helmet broke.

The Atlantean Soldier instantly felt a stinging sensation on his skin and difficulty breathing. He had only just come into contact with the air, but he already felt his body was severely dehydrated and lacking oxygen.

He gasped for air like a fish out of Water, but still felt he wasn't getting enough oxygen.

So he grabbed Dane's arm and desperately hit him.

Dane said calmly, 'I need an answer.'

The Atlantean Soldier desperately clutched his cloak, squeezing out a few words from his throat: 'King Orm... King Orm... ordered us... to seize the submarine... to launch the tsunami... to declare... declare War!'

War declared just like that?

Dane thought, 'It seems different from the movie. Orm didn't choose to gather the forces of the other kingdoms, but instead thought that Atlantis alone could deal with the entire Surface force.'

Is he not taking the Justice League seriously?

Not necessarily. He stroked his chin, thinking.

The isolation of the Undersea Kingdom was well-known. It was said that there was even a magic that specifically separated the underwater and Surface. So it was very possible that Orm had no idea about the existence of the Justice League.

Having received his answer, he let go and released the Soldier.

His body fell from the sky, plummeting into the sea.

Dane didn't receive a soul, proving that the other party wasn't dead. Atlanteans' physique was indeed stronger than that of the Surface people.

At this moment, he saw a woman resembling a mermaid on the sea surface, glaring at him. He flew down.

'Hello, madam.'

'I am Mera, daughter of King Nereus of Xebel!'

Mera didn't want to look up at Dane, so she controlled the seawater to rise, lifting her body to be level with him.

'Who are you? Why did you treat the Atlantean Soldier like that!'

Fortunately, the Soldier wasn't dead. If he had died, Mera even felt she might have fought with him.

Dane looked at her flawless face and couldn't bring himself to say a single harsh word. Besides, this tsunami wasn't caused by her.

'I am a member of the Justice League. You can call me Shazam.'

'You should know that these people released a tsunami towards Amnesty Bay, right? Honestly, not slaughtering them here is already an act of grace.'

'This is only because you Undersea people are indeed suffering greatly from pollution that I held back. You question me with such a tone, as if you are the victims this time.'

Upon hearing this, Mera actually felt that what he said made some sense. She could only let go of the previous topic and brought up a new one.

'That's also why I came to investigate. I think... they must have been ordered by someone to...'

Dane interrupted her, 'It was Orm. That Soldier just confessed that he was instructed by someone named Orm.'

'Orm? It really is him?'

Mera frowned her beautiful eyebrows, her tone implying that it was not unexpected.

Dane feigned ignorance and deliberately teased her, 'It seems you know that person. Why don't you tell me where he is, and I'll go kill him, so the two Worlds won't go to War.'

Mera's scalp tingled immediately, and she looked at Dane incredulously, 'If you do that, then all the kingdoms of the entire Sea will have sufficient reason to declare War on the Surface!'

'Oh? Then tell me, how should the matter of the Sea Tribe launching a tsunami against the Surface this time be resolved?'

He hinted, 'After this attack, the Surface is probably already starting to suspect your existence. Even if Orm doesn't plan to attack, without a reasonable explanation, the Surface will find it very difficult to let the matter rest.'

Now is the time for the United States to re-establish its authority, and Atlantis has directly put itself in the line of Fire this time.

Admittedly, in naval warfare, Surface civilization would never be a match for Undersea civilization, but the very fact of living in the ocean is the greatest weakness of the Undersea people.

Do you expect the Army of the United States to play fair with you?

At that time, they would directly dump biochemical weapons into designated sea areas, and no matter how advanced your Undersea civilization's technology is, it would fail.

Unless you have even more powerful technology or magic that can create a sanctuary for yourselves in the omnipresent ocean.

Mera seemed to have taken Dane for some leader of the Surface World. Hearing him say this, she couldn't help but feel anxious.

'Please wait, please believe that we can solve this problem...'

Dane crossed his arms, 'I'm listening.'

Unable to do anything, Mera could only bring up Arthur Curry, whom she had never met.

"The previous Queen of Atlantis had an older son named Arthur Curry. If he can defeat Orm, he can take the throne, and then he can bring peace to the war."

Dane felt Mera was somewhat laughably naive upon hearing this.

At the same time, he felt something was off, because the Mera he remembered should have been a political creature, not so simple-minded.

So he asked again, "Have you met Arthur Curry?"

Mera shook her head. She had only heard Atlanna speak of her eldest son and had not truly met him yet.

In fact, Dane was the first Surface Worlder the young girl had ever seen.

Wait, young girl? Yes, that's right.

Dane understood. The Mera he remembered was the mature, prospective Queen who had undergone several years of tempering, not this naive young girl before him.

The Mera in his memory, although she rarely met Arthur, often secretly paid attention to Aquaman in Amnesty Bay because Atlanna frequently spoke of him to her.

But now, she clearly had not yet begun such a peeping behavior.

As a proper person, Dane certainly couldn't watch a young girl go astray like this, so he said directly:

"The Arthur Curry you're talking about is a half-human, half-Atlantean hybrid, right? I know him."

Mera looked at him with surprise.

Dane continued, "You might not know it yet, but the place where the tsunami just struck is exactly where Arthur and his father live."

Mera was startled by this news, and a terrifying possibility suddenly occurred to her.

Then Dane spoke it out: "Orm, it seems, wants to kill his brother and his father."

The struggle for the throne was that cruel. Not to mention Orm didn't even know his brother; even if they had grown up together, he would never hesitate when it came to taking action.

Mera then came back to her senses and quickly asked Dane, "Then do you know how they are now?"

It seemed she didn't know he had already stopped the tsunami. Dane thought for a moment and said,

"Do you want to see them? Most importantly, do you want to see Arthur Curry?"

If he truly possessed the kingly aura Atlanna spoke of, Mera would certainly want to confirm it with her own eyes, so she nodded without hesitation.

She agreed just like that, Dane sighed. He rarely met such a naive young girl... well, actually quite a few.

Dane suddenly realized that, apart from Wonder Woman, most of the girls he knew were generally quite innocent.

Even Gabriel, the Angel, looked somewhat naive.

Seeing Mera nod, he extended his hand: "Grab my hand."

Mera didn't understand why. Just traveling, did they need to hold hands?

But she thought he could fly, so perhaps he was going to take her through the sky?

And actually, Mera had never looked down from the sky in her life, and she inexplicably felt a little excited.

Dane seemed to sense her eagerness and for a moment didn't know what to say. He had actually just intended to teleport directly.

But at this point, telling the truth, would it be a bit of a letdown to her expectations? Boss Dane was a soft-hearted person and could only choose to fulfill her expectations.

So he went along with Mera's thoughts, taking her hand and flying into the sky...
