Chapter 145 - Chapter 144 God of Death's Claim

The International Gang's Base was easy to find; it was built right next to the eternal metal ore vein.

Guided by the Spirit of Kandake, he soon arrived at Hadi Diyah Mountain, where the ore vein was located.

The entire mine pit was heavily guarded, with only one entrance and exit.

It was clear that the International Gang was seriously building this place as a military Base.

All kinds of weapons, equipment, personnel configurations, and watchtowers and fortresses were all present.

But none of this could stop a God of Death who was about to reap souls.

Under the cover of night, Dane arrived in front of the Base fortress like a ghost.

But before entering, he stopped.

He discovered something interesting.

In the bushes on the outskirts of this Base, a small unit was hidden.

Judging from their uniforms and all U.S. weapons and equipment, they should be Resistance troops.

They were planning a night raid.

But frankly, with so few personnel and so little firepower, they probably wouldn't even be able to breach the gate.

Dane had already seen that the International Gang had made this place impregnable. Only a truly regular army, relying on airstrikes and large forces, would be able to crush it.

At this time, the generous My Lord God of Death certainly couldn't help but lend a hand.

He passed through the alloy gate like an illusory Shadow.

Under his black robe, a slender black spike appeared in his hand, fusing with his index finger, as if it had grown directly from that finger.

The mercenary on guard only felt a blur before his eyes, then suddenly his body lost all strength, and he fell straight to the ground.

His sleepy-eyed companion next to him was startled and quickly aimed his eyes through the scope, scanning the surroundings, but he found no enemy.

Unaware of the truth, he didn't choose to check on his companion. Instead, he picked up the walkie-talkie hanging from his waist, attempting to warn someone.

But just as he picked up the walkie-talkie, he felt a chill in his chest, and all his strength drained away like a tide.

The walkie-talkie slipped from his hand, grasped by a pale hand.

"What's going on? Hyena?"

Dane lifted the "Hyena's" soul, spent a millisecond looking at his recent memories, and then used magic to imitate his voice:

"All clear, Officer, it's Tommy, he's so tired he's almost asleep."

"Be serious! The insider said those damned motherfuckers are going to raid tonight, absolutely no screw-ups!"

There was an unexpected gain?

Dane raised an eyebrow and replied, "Understood, Boss!"

Then he put down the walkie-talkie.

He found a room and, seeing a router there, placed a small U-shaped device on it.

Soon, the "U" transformed into nanoparticles and seeped into it.

He held the two souls in his hand, balled them up, and stuffed them into his inventory.

As he withdrew his hand, he saw a fleeting green light in a corner of the warehouse and suddenly thought of something.

He took out that item.

It was a green lantern ring, with Parallax sealed inside.

Now it was residing in the green lantern power battery; it had been hungry for a long time.

Dane had a sudden idea: God of Death and fear, they seemed to match, didn't they?

So he put this special green lantern ring on his hand and continued to walk inside.

At the same time, he relaxed his control over Parallax, allowing it to release a little bit of power.

Inside the Base, everyone suddenly felt the surrounding temperature drop a bit, and the lights flickered, looking like the eerie atmosphere in a horror movie.

"Hey! Can't anyone turn up the air conditioner?" Someone, uncomfortable with this strange change, tried to say something to alter the mood.

But it was unsuccessful.

Dane's little trick couldn't be hidden for long. Soon, a patrol discovered the deceased ahead.

Someone immediately tried to sound the alarm, but he failed. Dane had already had Cortana invade and control the network here in advance.

Now, no signals could be transmitted; they could only shout.

Meanwhile, Ismail, located in the deepest part of the Base, was in his room studying the family notebook he inherited from his father.

It contained a lot of information about the Shabak Crown, but unfortunately, the notes from thousands of years ago were written in cuneiform, which he couldn't read.

"Do I really have to hire a historian to interpret it?"

Ismail felt a bit unwilling, but there was no other way. Some things, if you don't know them, you just don't know them; you can't guess the answers.

But just as he was thinking about who to find to interpret this notebook, a subordinate burst in.

"Boss! This is bad!"

A murderous glint flashed in Ismail's eyes. He hated being disturbed when he was thinking.

But remembering that there were still things to be done, he could only suppress his anger.

"What happened?"

The subordinate, looking terrified, leaned close to his ear.

Ismail felt a bit uncomfortable and wanted to pull away, but he was also a little curious why his subordinate was so jumpy.

He heard the subordinate whisper, "Something unclean has entered the Base, and many people on the front line have died!"

Ismail found it absurd, but seeing his subordinate's pale face, which didn't seem feigned, he felt a chill run down his spine to the top of his head.

He studied eternal metal, so of course, he knew that magic existed in this World, and that ghosts and monsters were also real.

Could it be that some supernatural entity was targeting the eternal metal?

Although his guess wasn't entirely accurate, he was very close to the truth.

Even as they spoke, Dane had already cut through all the mercenaries near the main gate of the Base, many of whom were equipped with weapons made of eternal metal.

But it was all useless.

Dane wouldn't even give them a chance to fire.

Before his person even appeared, he had already released the dream stone, using the power of dreams to lull them into slumber.

Then he used the Kiss of Death to grant each person a painless Death.

So, if anyone were to see this later, they would find that all the deceased had peaceful expressions, as if they hadn't died, but merely fallen asleep.

This terrified many people, and they didn't dare to stay for another moment.

The bolder ones would still run further in, hoping to warn some brothers to escape quickly.

The timid ones simply opened the Base's main gate and fled.

Ismail, sitting in his office, also saw the deceased within the Base through the surveillance room. He became even more certain that the killer was some supernatural force... But he didn't understand why all the Soldiers died before they could even fire their guns.

If anyone had managed to fire a shot, the eternal metal bullets in the gun would have severely wounded that "thing"!

He watched his subordinates packing up to escape and couldn't help but curse, "Cowards!"

Then he turned back to pack his own belongings.

He hadn't found the Shabak Crown yet; he absolutely couldn't die here!

However, events did not unfold according to his will.

Dane was alone, and he wasn't killing with extreme diligence; his overall target was only Ismail.

But Parallax's fear aura had terrified all the mercenaries in the Base, leaving only the thought of escape in their minds.

And once the Base's gate was opened from the inside by the fleeing Soldiers, the Resistance ambushing outside discovered them.

They even thought at one point that they had been exposed and were preparing for a heroic sacrifice.

Instead, they saw those mercenaries, frightened by something unknown, fleeing desperately outwards.

The several leaders of the Resistance looked at each other, and one couldn't help but ask, "It seems there's a problem inside. Should we still go in?"

This situation clearly indicated a problem inside, and the best approach was to stay outside and assess the situation first.

However, one of the leaders had a strong premonition that they should go in!

So he overruled the dissenting opinions and led a group of people cautiously into the Base.

But as they walked, they were constantly surprised, even terrified.

Countless people, outwardly intact, had bizarre Death poses; they would have preferred to see scenes of blood and gore from hot weapons rather than the strange sight before them.

"Should we... should we still go in?" someone asked, trembling.

The leader who had just suggested entering gritted his teeth and mustered his courage:

"Go! This might be our best chance. As long as we kill their leader, the International Gang will immediately collapse, and Kahndaq can achieve the freedom it has longed for!"

At the mention of "freedom," sacred expressions appeared on everyone's faces, as if it were a beacon, a horn, giving them the courage to press forward.

So they said no more and continued to push inwards.

During this process, they did encounter fleeing Soldiers, but those people were all terrified.

They had no intention of fighting back against the sudden intrusion of these people; each one wished their parents had given them two more legs, fleeing like birds.

They didn't even spare a glance for the Resistance.

The young members of the Resistance were uneasy, but they still braced themselves and continued deeper.

Until the very end, in a dark room, a faint light seemed to cast a Shadow.

It was an extremely tall Shadow; the Resistance couldn't discern its face, but the overwhelming aura of Death made their breathing almost stop.

That "Shadow" rose from a corpse and looked back at them.

They also saw those non-human eyes.

In an instant, boundless fear and darkness completely engulfed all the Resistance, causing them to faint without any Resistance...
