Chapter 26 - School.

"Nooo!" I screamed as I was dragged inside the school grounds. Using my claws, I tried to slow Mom down from entering, but all it did was leave a trail of broken floor.

"Oh, come now, dear. This will be good for you, and besides, you'll be joining your sister when you start," she said with a large smile on her face, all the while dragging me with no problem.

I refuse to go back to school. I didn't survive the apocalypse and fight demons just to go back to hell squared.

No, I needed to escape. But how? I can't escape Mom—she's surprisingly strong. Believe it or not.

Honestly, you deserve this.

...I recognize that voice—the Radiance.

If you're going to complain about school, why not just ditch these people and live in the wild again? I mean, a savage like you should be just fine eating dirt.

You be quiet, I need to think.

Uh... whatever.

Finally, she's gone. I need a plan now.

How do I escape and not go to school?

"We're here!" Lilith said, picking me up.

I looked around and saw a rather large building in front of us. As she went inside, it was teeming with life.

Different types of demons walked and flew around. As she walked, the demons around us began to bow to Mom, and some boys... I think fainted at the sight of her.

"Who's she carrying?" one of the bird demons whispered to her friend.

"Don't know... kind of cute though," she replied back.

Mom walked for a few minutes before reaching a rather imposing door.

As she opened it, a bird demon that resembled a crow or raven was sitting at his desk, writing on a piece of paper.

"Good day, Principal Raum," Mom spoke, getting the attention of the bird demon.

He looked up from his work and quickly realized who it was. He got up from his chair and bowed to Mom.

"Your Majesty, I wasn't expecting you. How may I be of assistance?" Raum spoke.

"Not to worry. It was quite short notice, after all, but to more pressing matters." She placed me on a chair next to the door and spoke once more.

"I would like you to enroll my child in this institution."

"Of course, Your Majesty. But before that, we would like your daughter to take a few tests to see her aptitude."

Daughter?

Mom then giggled softly at the misunderstanding.

"Oh no, he is my son, not a girl."

"My apologies. I will inform my subordinates to prepare the tests. This will only take a moment."

Suddenly, Raum's eyes began to glow bright red before he exploded and turned into a flock of birds, leaving me and Mom alone.

"Well then, while we wait, would you like something to eat?"

"That's fine, Mom. I'm not really hungry."

"Alright, dear." She then walked over to me, lifted me off the chair, and sat on it. She gently placed me on her lap and began singing something softly to me.

Her legs were so soft and comfy, and the song she was singing—I couldn't understand a word, but the way she sang it... was... nice.

---

Waking up in the void, I was back in the castle... alone. No gods.

Getting up and walking around the castle, I heard a weird noise coming from one of the rooms.

So, moving slowly, I tiptoed over and saw a slightly opened door.

Taking a peek inside, I saw something that shouldn't be seen.

The Pale King and the White Lady were...

I just closed the door and walked out of the castle, entering the portal to wake up.

---

Waking up, I slowly opened my eyes and noticed I wasn't inside the principal's office anymore.

"Good morning, sweetie. Did you have a nice nap?"

I nodded. She smiled back and walked over to Raum, who was talking to someone.

"Principal Raum, is it ready yet?"

"Yes, Your Highness. The spell circle is complete; now we're just waiting for your son."

Lilith looked at me with a smile on her face and placed me inside the circle. She walked back with the others, and the moment she was far enough, the circle around me began to glow.

"Um... what's happening?" I asked, looking toward them.

"Fear not. This spell circle will only measure how powerful your soul is, and using this scroll, we'll be able to measure how powerful you are now and in the future," Raum replied.

The circle began to glow even brighter than before until suddenly the red color began to slowly turn white.

This surprised the demons observing, but most importantly, Mom seemed to be... happy.

I didn't know why she was happy at the white color, but as long as she was happy, that's fine.

Though this wasn't the end. As the light grew brighter and brighter, the white circle seemed to be... bleeding?

Black liquid was slowly dripping off the circle. This made the rest of the demons even more surprised.

"Okay, that's enough!" Raum spoke, cutting off the spell and the circle dying down.

I stood in the middle, not really knowing what to do next.

As I stood there, Lilith went back to me and picked me up again. She had a wide smile on her face before giving me a hug.

But as I looked around, the other demons seemed to be... tense.

"Your Majesty, a word please?" Raum said to Mom.

She placed me back down and followed Raum out the door, leaving me with the demons who seemed fascinated.

---

"My Queen... who is that child?" Raum spoke, looking almost concerned.

"He is my child, of course!" Lilith replied with a bright smile on her face.

"Yes... but he doesn't seem to possess the usual traits of a demon, and from that light earlier, he is most likely... an angel."

"So... did you bring me here just to say that? Then if you're quite finished, I shall be heading back to my son."

"But... Your Highness, this is serious! If the angels find out we harbor one of them among us, who knows what they'll do?"

"That is my concern. So, if there's nothing else—goodbye." Lilith left the principal alone with a single piece of parchment detailing the results of the test.
