Chapter 16 - Cultivation Begins

The class ended, and Matt headed out of the class. Luckily, trouble didn't come his way.

He headed outside the building; how the building looked on the outside and inside still surprised him. He thought of asking this question in the next class of how this happens.

Looking at the shining sun checking the time, it turned out that 12pm had just arrived; it was afternoon time.

JINGLE! JINGLE!

The sound of the bell rang throughout the academy, the system interface with these words appearing on it:

"LUNCH TIME"

Matt smiled, looking at the door behind him. He went to a corner, waiting for Eira. He didn't forget her words that they should move together after the lecture.

He didn't wait for too long; he saw her walking out of the building. She was like a cold goddess, detached from the mortal world. No one dared move within a meter around her; the coldness caused them chills.

She stood at the door of the building, her eyes wandered around, looking for someone, but she didn't see the person. Some guys took this opportunity to strike up a conversation, planning to help her find what she was looking for.

Matt knew what she was looking for, which made him unconsciously smile as he called out, "Eira."

Eira heard this name, her eyes landed on Matt, who was smiling; his dreamy eyes attracted her, the cold figure found herself blushing, and she smiled.

Everyone who had their attention on her was surprised when they saw her now looking like the sun, warm and soft.

Matt found himself freezing at the sight of her smile, his eyes so attracted that he didn't notice when Eira ran and burst into his arms, hugging him.

Her hug made him gain himself back, which made the tips of his ears red; he blushed, panicking as this was the first time she was initiating contact like this.

All eyes were on them. Matt and Eira felt it, which made them more embarrassed. They quickly separated themselves, avoiding each other's gaze.

The crowd shook their heads; they could feel love in the air, the guys jealous of Matt's luck, trash getting the heart of the goddess.

Matt cleared his mind of it even though it wasn't clear to him why Eira did so. He looked at her. "Why don't we go to lunch?"Eira still embarrassed, nodded, avoiding Matt's gaze, walking with him as they headed to the restaurant.

Walking to the restaurant, they met Matt's roommates along the way, which made things much more fun.

Eating lunch and heading back to the hostel to take a rest. Dinner also came. Eira was already waiting at the door for him. Matt felt that something had changed in Eira; she wasn't like this before, but he took that off his mind, thinking that maybe it was because he's the only one that she knows and was close to.

If anyone could hear Matt's thoughts, they would shake their head, realizing how much of a blockhead he is.

After dinner time, Matt was back at his room, his heart anticipating his first time cultivating and opening of the veins. His sister was waiting for him, and the secret behind his parents.

Nighttime came, and Matt sat on his bed. The moon shone light through their window, and his handsome appearance was outlined.

With his eyes closed, he cleared all distracting thoughts from his mind, his mind, and heart peaceful and calm.

The surroundings distorted from him, as he felt he was in a hidden space, clear from the background.

It was then he chanted,

"Originat within me…."

For a moment, Matt felt something moving around him, winds blowing,

"…Hear my call, flow through my blood, awaken my vein. By my will and talent..."

"…. Open." He roared internally. Immediately an explosion occurred in his mind, his eyes unconsciously opened, and he saw that he wasn't within his room anymore.

Matt looked around, looking at himself, surprised by this, wondering how this had happened.

A white expanse of space, filled with mist that hindered his sight, everywhere was calm and silent.

Matt felt something in him; he looked and saw a beating heart of unknown color. He felt as if there was nothing that this heart couldn't absorb.

Information rushed to his mind as he realized that the heart was the form his Absorb talent had taken, and now his consciousness was the one in this misty space.

All this happened due to the chant, which made him now know why teacher Elizabeth had warned him. And this misty space was where he would open his vein.

But how?

Matt felt confused for a moment before he felt a tug of calling in the misty space.

Before he knew it, his consciousness unconsciously moved, walking into the misty space.

Matt got hold of himself, but when he looked back, everywhere was covered in mist. He had no option but to go where the calling came from, as he was clueless about what was happening.

Walking deep into the mist, the more the calling gets stronger, until he reaches his destination, a place devoid of mist.

But a tree so gigantic that he can only see its trunk—this made Matt surprised and confused, as Teacher Elizabeth didn't mention anything about this.

He could feel the calling came from the trunk of the tree before him; he moved closer for a better view.

The trunk was milky white, he raised his eyebrows, never having heard of such a tree before, and wondered why the hell such a tree was inside of him.

Before he could do anything, his consciousness was absorbed into the trunk of the tree, and Matt found himself before thirteen milky white doors.

At first, confusion filled his heart before information was passed to him.

It turned out the milky white trunk he saw wasn't the trunk of a tree but his vein; that was his Lumin, the heart vein that connected all veins together.

This information amazed Matt; it was never mentioned that the veins were connected like this. He thought that they were separate entities.

Now what he was to do was to break these doors before him to open his veins; all he had to do was to urge his talent, which had taken the form of a heart, to break it. Depending on the talent, the easier it is to break through.

He thought of his talent; he sighed. No wonder it was said a D-rank Awakener finds it difficult to open other veins apart from the first one.

Thirteen doors are to be broken to open the first vein, and the aura they give wasn't to be taken lightly.

He frowned and was still determined, raising his hands punching at the door.

But…
