My kids were happily coloring when there was a knock on the door.
"Who is it? Come in," I replied, sitting with my children and hand-feeding them while they stayed busy with their books.
"Kids, you can come outside and do whatever you want," Zoe said as she walked in, speaking directly to Colin and Amy.
"No, Zoe, it is okay. They want to stay here," I responded without turning around.
"Yeah, but they are prince and princess," Zoe tried to argue.
I raised my hand to stop her.
"It is okay, Zoe. Please close the door when you leave," I said, not giving her any more attention.
She lingered for a few seconds before finally walking out.
"Mommy, Aunt Zoe is not so bad," Colin remarked, making me gently touch his cheek.
If only they knew how cruel these people could be, they would never have spoken her name.
I was sure of one thing now. I was not going to let anyone play me anymore.
