I wait for her reply. The silence stretches, thick with her shock. All I can feel is the cold, sharp edge of my anger. She threatened what's mine. She broke what's mine. She made Nic flinch.
Akane finally finds her voice, and it's a shrill, breaking thing. "What the fuck, Kenji? Seriously?"
I just stare at her. I don't blink. My patience is a thin, frayed wire.
She takes a step forward, her hands fluttering dramatically. "For four years! Four years, I have been trying to get you to forgive me! To see me! I can't live like this, knowing you're with… with that!" She jabs a finger toward Nicole. "I made one mistake!"
One mistake. She calls fucking my Enemy, letting him into my bed, a 'mistake'.
The wire snaps.
My voice is flat, devoid of all feeling. It's the truth, plain and simple. "You didn't make a mistake, Akane. You made a choice. You opened your legs for Shuya Honda because I wound't fuck you"
