Chapter 45 - Free Ride, Punisher

From their descriptions, Peter roughly pieced together details about this arms dealer called Shocker.

He was a bald, white male, about forty years old, sometimes wearing a black beanie. He had a full beard, and the gauntlet that emitted shockwaves was on his right hand. He always had a defiant look on his face.

According to those gangsters, he was asking for a beating.

If they didn't need the weapons he sold, they definitely would have given him a few beatdowns to vent their frustrations.

Furthermore, Shocker had a companion, but that person usually only drove.

Peter guessed he was probably one of Shocker's employees or something?

Well, truth be told, that image actually fit Peter's idea of what a bad guy should look like.

A burly man, accompanied by a mysterious driver – wow, the atmosphere just got interesting.

But, people with similar appearances and outfits, there must be thousands, if not tens of thousands, in New York, right?

Only that high-tech glove that could emit sonic waves was somewhat distinctive.

But unless the other guy was an idiot, who would flaunt something like that?

As luck would have it, there actually was an idiot.

According to reliable sources, those Dogs of Hell guys would have a trade tonight with someone, at eleven o'clock.

And, according to usual practice, Shocker would definitely come in person.

Peter wasn't sure if what these guys said was true or not.

But, better safe than sorry.

So, after he'd tied them all up with Webbing, he went back to the rooftop.

He noticed that Punisher didn't look too good. Obviously, he had suffered some "torture" from Daredevil during the time he was gone.

—It should have been verbal, after all, Daredevil didn't seem like the type to resort to violence casually.

But sometimes, for some people, verbal or mental torture was far more tormenting than physical torture. If the gun was still in Punisher's hands right now, Peter believed he would definitely shoot Daredevil.

"Got what you wanted?" Daredevil, though blind, could still observe everything around him; he noticed Peter as soon as he approached.

Before Peter could speak, Punisher shouted angrily, "Kid, I won't hold it against you for tying me up, but you have to let me go now! I'm going to beat the crap out of this guy!"

Peter scratched his head and stood still.

Punisher's face immediately darkened, "You're going back on your word? You want to completely offend me? Then you better kill me, or else, just wait for my revenge!"

Peter felt a bit awkward and turned his head away.

His mind was currently a battleground for two tiny spiders.

One was adorned with the wings of a demon, while the other sported the wings of an angel.

The angel spider said, "You promised you'd let this guy go after you were done asking questions. Are you going to be a man of your word?"

The demon spider retorted, "If I let him go, knowing his personality, he'll definitely go kill those gangsters. Then, the leads will dry up, and how will I catch Shocker?"

The angel spider said, "Why not have a good chat with him? He'll understand."

The demon spider said, "No way. He's a stubborn, violent, and sharp-tongued jerk! He even called me a little kid who's obsessed with helping old ladies cross the street!"

The angel spider suggested, "How about this: Let him go first, then catch him again. That way, you keep your promise and can still do another round of 'trading' later."

The demon spider replied, "Good idea. Let's do it."

Peter thought: What kind of idea is that? It's clearly a terrible one!

"Your emotions have fluctuated several times. That suggests you're conflicted. Tell me, what's going on?" Daredevil asked.

This guy's ability is truly OP.

Even though he can't see, he can actually "see" more than anyone else.

Peter relayed the information he'd gathered.

However, the Punisher was the first to object.

"What? You want to let them leave here to trade weapons? No way! This is a rare opportunity to take them all down at once! If we miss today, they'll scatter again and harm more people!" the Punisher roared.

Peter argued, "But the weapons are the source. If we don't catch the source, we'll have Dogs of Hell now, and then Hand of Hell, Head of Hell, Tail of Hell, and so on. Only by solving the source can we truly solve the problem!"

The Punisher said, "Solving the source doesn't necessarily mean letting these people go as bait. We can absolutely find clues in their base! What if they're just deceiving you, a delaying tactic?"

"Uh..." Peter was a little embarrassed; he hadn't thought of that.

At this moment, Daredevil said, "I can help you with something."

Peter turned to look at him.

Daredevil twirled the metal baton in his hand, and it immediately retracted, becoming a short segment.

Then, he walked to the edge of the roof and jumped.

Peter was startled.

Who are you, jumping down like that? This is the sixth floor!

He quickly ran to the edge, but saw Daredevil open the baton mid-air, tapping the walls around him a few times, pinpointing his landing spots with precision.

After a few jumps, he entered the apartment building.

After a while, he walked out again, and after a few more jumps, he was back on the roof.

That agility... it didn't seem like a blind man at all!

The best parkour athletes probably wouldn't even be able to do that!

"I've confirmed it for you, it's not a lie," Daredevil said, his face completely composed, his tone calm.

This time, Punisher was speechless.

Although he and Daredevil didn't get along, he knew how formidable the guy was.

He was a walking, talking lie detector.

Unless the person had undergone extremely rigorous training and could control their heart rate, breathing, and all other vital signs to remain constant while lying...

Otherwise, there was simply no way to hide anything from him.

But if they could achieve that level, they'd undoubtedly be the elite of the elite, having undergone significant and prolonged brainwashing.

These gangsters were clearly not in that category.

Peter's face lit up: "Um, Mr. Castillo, so..."

"Untie me," Punisher said flatly.

Peter didn't move.

Punisher, annoyed, said, "Don't worry, since this guy said so, I'll reluctantly concede. I'll go with you, and when that Shocker shows up, we'll take them all out! That guy's not exactly a good guy anyway!"

Peter: ...Although this guy still sounds violent and bloodthirsty, isn't this like getting a free ride on a powerful ally?

Mr. Stark shouldn't dock my combat achievements because of this, right?

Peter was lost in thought, but his hands were already busy untying Punisher.
