Chapter 7 - Liang Music Band

Tian Yang immediately gave a wry smile. Even the mighty Brother Fei had times when he was strapped for cash!

Liang Yin said, "It's okay! You rest. The effect is what matters most. We're not short on money!"

Tian Yang was a little surprised. He hadn't expected this big-chested woman to be the investor?

Which entertainment company did she own? He'd never seen her before!

But she was quite pretty. Could Brother Fei be getting taken care of by a rich woman?

Lin Chudong said, "No need. Let's start directly. I just need ten minutes to warm up my voice."

Following Lin Chudong's instructions, the recording began. Beautiful instrumental music started, and the vocal recording began.

"What makes me shed tears, isn't just the wine last night."

"..."

Three minutes later, Tian Yang said, "One take, Brother Fei. The effect is really good."

"Play it for me."

Lin Chudong put on his headphones and picked up a pen, beginning to take notes.

After listening once, he took off the headphones.

"Record it again. The second bar of the second section, and the third bar of the chorus, I'll sing them again. Just record everything. Then, you can extract those two bars and edit them together."

"Understood."

Tian Yang couldn't help but feel a little admiration. He already felt it was perfect, but Fei-ge still wanted to re-record.

He'd met some singers before who wouldn't re-record even when they were off-key in certain parts. They'd just have to rely on the sound engineer to fix it in post-production.

Regardless, such professionalism was absolutely worthy of respect.

Tian Yang also wanted to gossip about why he'd been kicked out of the band, but the words caught in his throat.

The accompaniment recording took two hours, and the vocals took another two. He probably sang it over thirty times before it was perfect, which showed just how strict he was about music.

After listening to it once, both Liang Yin and Wang Zhi were very satisfied.

A recording studio that cost three thousand an hour was worth the money. The sound quality was so good, your ears would be in heaven.

"Alright, we just need to wait for the approval process to release it!"

Even though Liang Yin hadn't done any of the work, she felt relieved.

"Right, what name are we releasing this song under? We should come up with a band name, shouldn't we?"

"Sure."

"Got any good ideas for a name? Could we maybe ride on the coattails of the A Fei Band, like, call ourselves the A Fei Band?"

"Probably not a good idea."

"So, you got any names in mind?"

"Nope."

"How about the Liang Music Band?"

"Works for me."

Wang Zhi's lips twitched as he listened to their conversation. They just settled on a band name that easily?

Naming the band after the boss lady? That was too hasty, wasn't it?

"Hey, Brother Fei, any chance I could be the guitarist?"

Lin Chudong patted Wang Zhi on the shoulder. "No chance."

Wow, straight to the point!

"Alright, I'll switch to bass. Save a spot for me."

"Sure, go practice. I'll help you out when I have time."

Wang Zhi was a straightforward and somewhat rigid person, and it showed in his playing.

His technique was quite good, steady, and he had a strong sense of rhythm, making him a perfect fit for a bassist.

Bands often overlooked bassists in the past, but it was actually a crucial position. The low end was what controlled everything.

Without a bass, it was like having a feast but not eating any rice.

If Wang Zhi could get the hang of it, he'd be great.

Liang Yin seized the opportunity and asked, "Da Fei, what about me? Can you teach me? Maybe I could be a drummer."

Lin Chudong said, "The drummer is the heart of a band; they're very important."

He waited for a while, but there was nothing more. Liang Yin looked puzzled.

"What about the rest? Go on, tell me! It's important, so shouldn't you be telling me to work hard or something? Why did you stop there?"

Seeing Liang Yin's expression, Lin Chudong gave a wry smile.

"You're the boss, you're busy."

"True..." Liang Yin pouted, a little dissatisfied, and unconsciously hugged her arms, slightly lifting her chest.

"By the way, can you get Su Yulin to join our band? After her contract expires?" Liang Yin perked up, excited. She loved Su Yulin the most, and if she could recruit her to the Liang Music Band, it would be a huge boost.

Lin Chudong shook his head. "Forget about whether you can afford her annual salary, can you even provide her with the variety show resources she needs?"

"You have no resources at all. Why would you want her to come? To eat chaff and swallow bran!"

Liang Yin immediately became dejected. It was true; she had nothing. Even with a high salary, the person might not come.

Look at Shen Jianbin, a keyboardist could become a judge on The Voice. Meanwhile, she hadn't even seen the auditions for The Voice. How could she possibly get a top-tier drummer?

"What do we do then? We need to recruit musicians, right?"

Lin Chudong said, "Yeah, since we've started, let's recruit. First, we need a drummer and a keyboardist. The monthly salary will be around seven thousand, not too outrageous. Plus five percent performance fees. Liang Yin, you handle the drummer recruitment. The keyboardist has only one requirement: they must be proficient in classical piano."

Wang Zhi asked, "Why does the keyboardist need to be proficient in classical piano?"

Lin Chudong said, "Why are you, a bassist, asking so many questions? Get us some takeout later. I want braised chicken and rice."

Liang Yin: "I want spicy hot pot."

Wang Zhi: …

This is bullying the honest!

\n\n...

The next morning, as soon as Lin Chudong got up, he checked the treasure chest. He could open it in a few hours.

While he was brushing his teeth, Liang Yin pushed the door open directly.

"Da Fei, I found a drummer!"

Lin Chudong pulled up his pants, feeling a bit speechless.

"Sis, you didn't knock before coming in! What if I was using the toilet?"

Seeing Lin Chudong shirtless, with the sharply defined muscle lines on his arms, and those two square pectoral muscles, along with his barely visible abs, she blushed.

"A real man doesn't sweat the small stuff. The drummer's here! Come on out and take a look!"

Liang Yin, her face flushed, hurried out.

Lin Chudong was exasperated. This boss lady is a bit… dense. He'd heard the saying: big breasts, small brain. Could it really be true? If he ended up with a boss who was an airhead, he was doomed.

After washing up and getting dressed, he went out.

On the second floor, sitting beside the drum kit, was a very well-behaved girl. She was wearing light blue jeans, a pink hoodie, and had twin tails. She looked to be in her early twenties, and her face showed a hint of shyness and nervousness.

"Da Fei, let me introduce you. This is Jia Lu, a high school classmate of mine, and a fan of yours."

Jia Lu stood up, twisting her hands together, and glanced up at Lin Chudong before quickly looking back down.

"Hello, Brother Fei. I'm Jia Lu, your fan."

After already saying it once, Jia Lu repeated herself, appearing genuinely nervous.

"You're really a fan of mine?"

"I am! Absolutely! I've retweeted every single one of your posts!" Jia Lu said earnestly.

She was likely one of the few tens of thousands of fans.

Usually, the band's updates were posted by the company using the official band account. Lin Chudong's account was private, and he usually just reposted, so most of the fans followed the official account.

Retweeting every post from his private account meant she was a hardcore fan.

"Thanks for the support, but this isn't a fan meet-and-greet. It's a drummer audition. You don't need to be nervous."

Jia Lu lowered her head, her fingers interlocked, thumbs twirling endlessly.

"You... you're making me even more nervous by saying that."
