"If you give, give the first dance to me
I'm gonna cherish every moment."
Your cheeks tinged pink
as I stole the left earpiece
of your earphones and heard
Justin Bieber crooning.
You shuffled your feet,
hands rubbing the back of your neck,
making you look
heartbreakingly adorable.
"It's not what you think,"
you filled in hastily.
"I was just shuffling-"
"I like it."
Your eyes widened before slacking in defeat.
"It was catchy,"
you admitted quietly.
"Your secret is safe with me."
You snorted out a laugh.
Leaning in with minty breath
that reminded me of
summer rain in a forest,
you whispered, "Thank you."
My toes curled and heat rose.
My stomach fluttered and Ethan,
everything felt deliciously sinful.
And just so right.
As hard as it was,
your eyes seemed to mirror mine.
'I love you' -
the words were dying to come out.
"Artis?"
The spell broke.
The moment ended.
We s t e p p e d back.
Reid looked at you with cold,
distasteful eyes.
Surprisingly, your sweet green eyes
mirrored his.
"Artis, your mum asked me to drop you home. She couldn't come today,"
Reid said.
I smiled at you in goodbye.
You d i d n ' t smile back.
And somewhere deep inside,
I knew things were about to change.
