Chapter 8 - Are these people crazy?

'Ugh, this fucking world sucks'

I was sat in the corner of a white room looking at the empty walls and trying to figure out how to leave.

'i cant brute force it'

My hands were aching after i hit the walls a couple of times in hopes of finding some secret exit.

All i could find inside was a small note with some sort of hint written on it.

"Look deeper."

'what the hell could it mean?'

It has already been an hour since getting in here and i still didn't have an idea to what it could mean.

[Time: 04:53:07]

The systems text floated right above as if moking me.

'What can i even do.'

I was useless by myself.

I always needed help from others and all the achievements were simply given to me as if i had done something.

Just like in this situation.

The moment Elizabeth left me here i couldn't ask her for help and immediately gave up.

'What can i do.'

I only knew how to do things others told me to, i couldn't come up with anything myself.

Just like in my previous life.

I felt like such trash for taking others place even though it was given to me.

'Fine'

If i cant do anything myself then i just have to make it work.

Brute force or not, these stupid hints that give vague answers, the idea of me being this worlds saviour.

Il just try.

Because that's what im good at.

I stood up from the floor doing a small warm up that seemed like a warp up in my opinion and punched the wall with everything i had.

...

"How are they doing?"

An elderly voice spoke up from behind the man.

He knew very well who that person was but his eyes hadnt left the screen as he observed carefully.

The Headmaster leaned in, looking at the screens showing the applicants.

"Are you that impressed by them, Instructor Ian?"

That didn't seem to budge the man for a moment before he slowly closed his eyes, his head dropping lower.

"They are moderate."

"Oh?"

Even Headmaster himself seemed quite surprised by the comment.

Instructor Ian was known to be a cold hearted person who valued people that were capable.

In his eyes, moderate was the biggest praise one could hear leave his lips.

"Well then who do you think we should approve to the prestige class?"

"Hmm."

Ian opened his eyes yet again, not blinking at all as he spectates the most talented ones out of the hundreds.

'Golden boy's son is the highest graded one out of all.'

He was currently sitting in the waiting room prepared for the people who already completed the test, he was the first one to get there as the other sons and daughters of important delvers made their way here.

There were already seven people in it.

'they are truly a miracle'

Upon headmasters request, it was decided that the first year students will take an exam meant for second years.

It seemed absurd at first but seeing how someone actually passed made it seem like a good decision.

'Or maybe they are simply monsters'

Both seemed right for this batch of children.

Thanks to the headmasters lie about not having enough place for more students, the people who didn't have enough determination simply gave up without going into the teleportation spell.

"How is the rest doing?"

The headmaster asked curiously as Ian switched the screens.

Dozens of different recordings appeared in front of them showing different people.

Some were observing the walls or sitting on the ground already giving up.

On the other hand a part of them understood the hint and started to focus on themselfes.

"I see that others are close to passing aswell."

Headmaster sounded quite impressed by the applicants.

The whole point of the test wasn't to get out of the room like it seemed.

By looking beyond, it meant to take in entire surroundings, not just walls that kept them inside.

If one focused on the mana frequency long enough, they would notice that inside the room on one of the walls is hidden a small button.

The whole point of it was so the children could understand themself better aswell as focus on every little thing around them, sharpening their senses.

Even with training it could be deemed as a hard task due to the entire space being made of mana.

And on top of that, it was just the first task assigned to them.

"It seems that most of them are stuck on the first task."

"I figured it would be like that, they dont know how to sense mana after all. Give them a few minutes before letting everyone out."

"Yes."

'Hmm'

Headmasters gaze landed on a few particular individuals before he left the control room.

...

'Ugh'

My arms felt numb as i sat on the floor breathing heavily.

The only thing i managed to do was make a small crack on the wall.

It sadly didn't do a thing and i had to keep on hitting it while switching beetween kicking and punching.

'who the hell made a place like this.'

Why would they just trap us in a box and then leave, it felt so stupid.

No, i'm the stupid one for even accepting to come here.

Id rather stay in heaven flying with angels and lazing around all day.

.

Or i would go to hell but who cares.

What's done is done and i didn't plan on dying because of how painfull it would be.

*Crack*

"Huh?"

Out of nowhere, the crack i made earlier had started to expand.

With cracking sounds it started to grow, covering the entire room.

'Its not over is it??'

I checked the mission time once again to make sure if i did it.

[Time: 4:00:07]

It wasn't even halfway done and i was going out, it was obvious that they wouldn't just give me six hours for nothing.

'Are you watching this, god?'

I looked up upwards as if someone was there, standing and watching me go through these stupid tests, probably knowing that i would do these things.

'I have only this to offer you'

I raised my arm towards the ceiling before flipping off god, whether he was watching or not didn't really matter to me, i just believed he was.

The room cracked once more before shattering into dozens shards of glass that fell down slowly as they disintegrated.

'now that's just crazy'

Around me stood other people who were most likely in the same situation as me, standing and looking around confused.

I stood at what seemed to be the front side of the crowd.

There was a massive corridor right before us and as most were collecting themselfes, a scream tore through the confused babble.

"Beasts are coming!"

Some guy ran right past me as i turned to look behind.

'Holy shi-'

An inhuman screach reached my ears as various beasts appeared behind us, chasing down whoever they set their sights on.

Not long after, everyone has started to run into the corridor with all their might.

'Dammit!'

I did so aswell, trying to somehow get away which weirdly enough worked as i ran faster than i could imagine.

Although i was already exshausted from trying to break through the walls, i could manage to keep up with others.

Entering the ominous corridor.
