Chapter 7 - Back to school

Walking through the crowded streets was making me quite anxious.

I didn't know anyone in this world with the exception of Elizabeth who walked right beside me.

We were currently making our way towards the academy to which im supposed to join.

I couldn't even find out which one it was since i was beat up for the last week.

I cant say that it was for nothing though, i had learned how to use a sword albeit on a small degree.

'just how much more will i need to learn.'

Our lessons made me realise that people in this world werent actually people, well maybe they were in their eyes, but to me they were complete monsters, i'm not sure if even the strongest person could overpower Elizabeth.

Immersed in my thoughts i almost bumped into a person.

Thankfully i only grazed them as i was stopped by Elizabeth.

"Carefull."

She said to me coldly but i knew that she meant well.

As i looked around i noticed all the different people standing around us, the last time i saw so many people was when i went to a concert of a famous musician.

'Its so colorfull.'

Now that i was finally with other people, i was relieved by the fact that everyones hair and eye color was different.

Some had variations of red while on the side i could see green and blue colors.

'its so weird.'

It really was like a game, the people looked so much different than in my world, most of the older people had weird bodies like they seemed too big or some of their limbs unnatural.

"We're here."

Elizabeth's voice came from behind as i turned and saw her waving at me slightly.

'wait what am i supposed to do?!'

I tried to reach for her but people came out of nowhere blocking my path.

I didn't want to push them away nor did i think that i would be able to looking back to what happened with her so i stayed in place until i heard a small ringing sound.

'?'

I looked around but it seemed as though no one heard it unlike me.

My system opened out of nowhere and i understood what that sound was.

In shining new runes another line of text has appeared on the list.

[Mission: Pass the entrance exam to the 'Academy of United Orders'.]

[Rewards: Mana Awakening.]

[Time: 05:59:53]

'what is that?'

Elizabeth never mentioned a thing about some Missions assigned by systems.

It was supposed to only show your progress and what you can get later on albeit not clearly.

And the reward thats given for it is also an important thing.

Since i naturally didn't awaken mana, then getting it would speed up my progress by alot and mayb give more later on.

'wait a minute..'

Academy of United Order.

During my stat with Elizabeth i had to read and listen about the most important places in this world which i could aim for in the future.

This academy was one of them, being on the pinnacle of this world's educational institutes.

It was formed as a symbol of peace between the four great orders that ruled over the people.

And now that i had recieved a quest about it, standing in the middle of this mass of people it meant only one thing.

'She planned to send me here from the start!'

I gritted my teeth slightly at the thought of being tricked by her, this place was described as the best but also most demanding academy in the world.

From what i picked off newspapers which i occasionally looked over, it was excepcionally packed this year with the sons and daughets of the rich folk flooding in.

Now that i knew what this was supposed to be, i focused more on my surrounding and noticed in an instant some people standing out from the rest.

With a group of various people surrounding him, stood a teen with glowing gold hair and an aura of elegance that of a noble.

'hes probably the heir of Delver Order'

I saw a picture of him at the first page saying something about him being the most talented offspring with a talent that could make him a 0 graded.

There were also some other smaller groups but still as eye-catching.

The two Blood hounds.

Ice Twins of Frigora.

And more noble children.

'wait arent i a child too now?'

If i was in my twenties in the last life, then now with my younger body i would be seventeen at most.

'what a pain.'

School and college were already eating at my mind but the one month with Elizabeth made me completely forget that i still needed to study more.

'Im going to make her pay for this!'

Even with my lazy attitude i can still hold a grudge.

*Buzz*

A buzzing of a microphone echoed throughout the area as everyone got quiet and looked up to see an old man floating above us.

"I-it's him, the headmaster!"

Someone spoke from the crowd as the rest started to gasp in awe in admiration.

"Greetings Children."

The headmaster spoke to us in a welcoming manner wearing a simple warm smile that you would usually see from your grandparents.

"Most of you probably know it already but let me introduce myself." He bowed his head slightly which looked kind of ridiculous with him floating above us, it looked more like he just turned his head to look at us.

"My name is Eugene Groisure, the headmaster of this academy."

He pulled out a staff seemingly out of nowhere and made a motion of strucking the ground.

Right behind him appeared a drawing of a massive building which resembled the academy by alot.

"Im very happy to see so many aspiring young people wanting to study under my care."

His eyes scanned the entire crowd as his smile faded into a frown.

"But.." he scratches the back of his head. "It seems we have too many applicants."

The crowd's whispers got louder as some people got a little agitated and expressed their dissatisfaction openly.

"That's ridiculous."

"Then just take me in and pick from the rest."

"Just kick out the unimportant people."

The words grew louder and more absurd as headmaster coughed before regaining his previous smile.

"Now, now, you don't have to worry because me alongside council found a perfect solution."

He raised his staff into the air as blue strings flew from its tip covering the entire crowd who came to apply to the academy, i of course was among them.

"To ensure that the people who deserve our support join us, we will conduct a small entrance exam that will determine what class you may join."

Everyone got quiet with the exception of one person who stood out quite a bit, he had a big body probably twice my size and a smug grin that just screamed of arogance.

"Hey old man."

He spoke to the headmaster in a tone that was neither respectfull nor disrespectfull.

Headmaster glanced at him.

"How many people can join the prestige class?"

The headmaster, slightly surprised by the question, seemed to fall in thought before giving him an answer.

"Only twenty people."

'ridiculous'

"Bwahahahaha!"

The big guy started to laugh as if he heard the funniest thing in the world.

Wiping his tears away, he looked at all the people that surrounded him before giving a declaration.

"Then il make sure only twenty stay until the end."

I saw some people around me starting to shake slightly which made me a little confused.

'whos this guy?'

I never saw him in the newspapers or any articles about the higher ups or government.

For him to scare others, he either was well known or hid himself well enough to not reveal his strenght.

'i hope i don't meet him, ever'

The strings that surrounded us glowed brightly before everyone dissapeared leaving the area empty.

Only the parents and guardians were left due to them getting pushed out of the string cage.

The headmaster shook his head in slight dissapointment before floating down on the ground.

"Did you have to scare them like that?"

He spoke to the man behind him who was grinning viciously.

"What? I have to motivate the newcomers slightly and.."

His eyes paused on the place where Elizabeth stood.

"I wanted to show off a little-"

*Thunk!*

A staff hit the mans head as his eyes closed and he held his aching forehead.

He didn't dare to make a sound.

'kids these days.'

The headmaster smirking to himself went back into the academy.

He wanted to see what kind of talents were brought this time.
