Jay's POV
I was about to open the pizza box when Keifer stopped me.
"What?" I asked.
"First, we have to find a movie to watch," he replied.
We started looking for movies on the tablet, because if the TV volume got too high, someone might wake up.
I suggested a horror movie, but he chose a romantic movie instead.
"I don't want to watch this," I said.
"It's horror as well as a bit romantic," he replied.
"Really?"
"Yeah."
"Okay then, let's open the pizza boxes," I said happily.
We both sat on the bed, resting our backs against the headrest.
He grabbed the bowl of popcorn, and I grabbed the box of pizza.
(He started the movie.)
"As he said, I don't think it's a horror movie."
"It's not a horror movie," I protested.
"It is," he replied.
"It's not," I said irritably.
"You'll know only if you watch what happens next," he replied, eyes on the screen.
I focused my attention on the movie, and soon I realised it was more of a sad and romantic story.
Then a kissing scene appeared. As it played, I froze. I didn't react at all, trying my best to stay calm.
I didn't want to react… not here.
When the kissing scene ended, I felt a wave of relief.
Then I felt his gaze on me. I noticed him from the corner of my eye. I ignored him and focused back on the movie.
There were a lot of embarrassing scenes in the movie before it ended.
Finally, the couple got married, which was a very lovely scene. After so much struggle and so many difficulties, they finally tied the knot.
My eyes filled with tears.
"Finally," I murmured, wiping my eyes. I clapped in joy.
"Oh, you became emotional quickly," he said.
"It's not like that. The story of this movie was really good—these are tears of joy," I replied.
"Jay," he said in a low voice.
"Hm?" I replied.
"Why were you pretending to be happy while playing games, even though you weren't?" he asked.
"I w-was…" I started to answer, but he interrupted.
"You didn't even tell me what I asked you," he continued.
"Keifer, you should never get yourself into trouble because of me," I replied.
"Why are you talking like this? What happened?" he asked.
Keifer's POV
Why did Jay suddenly start talking like this?
(She started speaking.)
"Today I had a bad dream. I dreamed that someone killed you."She started sobbing, then clung to me.
"It was just a bad dream. Why are you scared? Nothing will happen to me," I replied, stroking her hair.
"What if the dream comes true?" she asked.
"Don't worry. Nothing like that will happen," I reassured her.
"But please…" she said.
"Leave all that. It's time to sleep now," I said, trying to change the topic.
"You can sleep here, but don't try to do anything," she said.
"Don't you trust me? I won't do anything," I replied.
"Ok, okay," she said, then lay down on the bed.
I lay down beside her.
She fell asleep while I quietly stared at her. She looked so peaceful and calm.
I, too, drifted off to sleep, still watching her.
