Cherreads

Chapter 37 - Emperors Wings

I woke to my senses screaming at me. I could even feel the force a bit better, as it screamed at me. My body felt different. I had changed. I was better. A perfect fusion of flesh and metal. My eyes lit with gold light looked up from my position on the floor at a massive man. He stood taller than the custodes who'd carried me. Despite the glaring golden light his eyes emitted I somehow met them. In an instant my mind expanded.

I was now part of the emperor. I was an extension of his power. I was the first truly successful creation of a saint. I stood under his gaze. I did not bow to the emperor. I was the first success after multiple millennia. A project based on making soldiers with the emperor's genetics. I was the only one to gain any amount of power.

My mind automatically queried the emperor as I looked up at him, my mind functioning like I had been hooked up to hundreds of Athena neural enhancements. At a thought I sent him everything I knew of this universe and other universes. He sent back the fact that Terra was currently under siege by the traitorous Warmaster Horus.

His mind turned as he processed what I'd sent him and was already forming plans. He turned and climbed the steps to his throne and sat. Everyone in the room was looking between us, curious as to what had just happened. Malcador simply slapped my shoulder and climbed the steps to sit on an upper step. As he sat I turned to go to the armory. As I turned I bumped into a man with wings. Only then did I realize I too had wings.

I stood at least three feet below him so it had been less me bumping into him than it was me hitting a brick wall. I looked up at him and sent a message. My mind identified him as Sanguinius. He looked down at me with a blinding smile and wrapped an arm around my shoulders. As I went over information while being led to the armory the emperor sent a small note. It seemed that all those powers in me had coalesced into a Pokemon like evolution. I was now a powerful psychic who had a connection to the emperor.

Both he and I had no idea how I hadn't been shredded apart by the powers but I welcomed it as I wasn't dead. When we arrived at the armory I'd been aiming for we were met by one custodes, three blood angels, and five mechanicus members. I already knew the custodes was there to guard me and the blood angels for sanguinius. The mech boys were constantly scanning me and likely hoping to pry me open to understand my perfect flesh and metal fusion.

The preparations for my armaments stripped me of everything and put a strange black body suit on. The suit itself was a light armor and my body immediately linked to it. The armor came next. It was still warm from the forges in the back of the room. The emperor had organized the creation of a beskar, durasteel, adamantium alloy armor with an auramite coating. I didn't know how he did it but it was amazing. The armor felt like a second skin as it was put on.

It wasn't like most armor in Warhammer, made of ceramite and adamantium. It was expensive and hard to work with but for me it was perfect. I had wings and I was going to put them to full use. The armor was incredibly light and I could even see some unpowered rune enchantment matrices. I powered the enchantments and the armor immediately became lighter than my own body. Additional matrices were also powered but weren't much more powerful than what I could make.

After my armor was my weapons. My gauntlets were artifacts made by the emperor to make my hands extremely lethal an any way I could use them. I was given a crozius arcanum axe. It was a one handed shaft with a skull atop it, two curved wings forming the blades. On my side sat a man sized bolt pistol. My expanded storage devices had all fused into one so I simply started stuffing weapons and ammunition into myself, likely looking like a deranged lunatic.

After I was armed I ordered my custodes to arm himself as heavily as he possibly could. With my arms and armor taken care of my custodes disappeared for a few minutes before coming back strapped with weapons and some kind of additional armoring. I hurriedly made a storage for him and stuffed his gear into it. I did the same for Sanguinius as his armor was slowly repaired upon his body.

I continued to prepare myself and anyone of import as the emperor did lots of stuff. He had practically started mass production of the new alloy for himself and his still loyal sons. Over the three days it took for enough to be made to outfit Sanguinius we had both been through the slough that was the siege.

Sanguinius had entered the fray alongside Jaghatai Khan multiple times. During the fighting I'd tried to back them up a bit but I quickly learned that even as an untiring, nearly unstoppable being, I still couldn't keep up with them. I quickly resorted to simply eliminating enemy commanders and using my psychic powers with my magic.

Most of the demons and traitors I fought were ground based and could only use their weaker ranged weapons and attacks. I could easily swoop in and eliminate officers and such then disappear behind friendly lines. My psychic powers were based on what I could pull from the emperors powers and his near infinite psychic energy. I'd only pulled on his power once during battle and had turned a section of the palace walls into a large maze full of traps.

I hadn't ment to make a maze but it had been beneficial in defending. My magic had veered sharply into fire and healing abilities. Fiendfyre was incredibly easy to use and I wiped out thousands of chaos idiots every time I cast it. My healing had become massively more powerful but in turn massively more complex. I could practically heal anything but only if I knew everything single thing I was doing down to the last detail.

I used my newfound healing to put everyone I got near at top shape. I had even found myself fixing a man's brain at one point. On the fourth day after entering combat Sanguinius got his new armor. As soon as he hit the battlefield I could easily tell it had been hand crafted by the emperor. It was much like my armor but better in every way.

Over time I continued to fight and hone myself while going over everything I now had. A month of battle went by as I became know as The Emperors Alay. For a large part of the conflict Sanguinius and I had circled the palace constantly fighting airborn threats. The flying enemies weren't much threat to me or the primarchs, but for the people weaker then us we needed to eliminate them.

I'd flown around the palace 10 times on the first day while slaughtering the chaos fodder. Eventually I was attacked by a greater demon. The big bastard had launched straight at me from the ground with massive bat like wings. He was so big that he completely dwarfed me as he swung at me with a massive axe and whip. He was, however, easy to deal with as I simply led him along till Sanguinius swooped in and removed his wings.

I took advantage of him falling and blasted him with a massive amount of Fiendfyre. He slammed into the ground near a shieldbearer titan stomped on him before we could drop to him. A few desperate clashes with us later and I hit him with fire backed by the emperors power. This marked the second time I had used his power as I annihilated the demon entirely.

Naturally there were consequences to this. First I immediately felt Khornes rage slam into me and the Emperors power slam into Khorne. I struggled to stand as I became a living conduit for the Emperors power. I felt his power flow into me as I stood feeling like a second sun. Only the Emperor could withstand the corruption that this ultimate, godly power brought.

It felt like the world revolved around me as his power tore at Khornes attack. Then with a snap Khornes attack was shredded and the Emperor pulled his power back. I tried to fall to the ground but my armor had been slightly melted and now anchored me above the crater I'd erased the greater demon in.

A flex of my magic and my armor fell to pieces, allowing me to fall into Sanguinius's arms as I passed out. Before my mind shut down from the extreme stress I felt a whisper from the force. It was a hidden power of this universe and was within many beings, but with so many things and other powers here it was simply unknown. The single whisper I heard contained many things but one thing was clear, these events were nearing a climax.
