Liam's eyes opened slowly, the kind of slow that came with having absolutely no reason to be awake.
He stared at the ceiling for a moment, blinking at the light bleeding through the curtains, then turned his head toward the door like it had personally offended him.
He wasn't supposed to be up right now.
That was the whole point. No alarm, no plans, nothing. Just the bed, the quiet, and however many hours of sleep he could pile on top of each other before the day forced its way in.
The knocking started again.
Liam grabbed his phone off the nightstand. 11:07 AM.
He dropped it back down and lay there for another second, staring at nothing.
'Who the hell is that?'
He sat up slowly, swinging his legs off the bed and planting his feet on the floor. His ribs gave a dull protest, nothing sharp, just enough to remind him they were still healing. He ignored it.
