A NEW NORMAL
Tracy's POV
The weeks slipped by quicker than i expected.
The office had stopped feeling like a battlefield. My reports were cleaner, my confidence stronger. It was strange how fast normal could form when I stopped running from the past.
Each morning started the same— coffee in hand, elevator ride to the 15th floor, polite "good mornings" that filled the corridor. But lately, there was something else. A weightless kind of awareness that followed me whenever Ethan Callahan was around.
He wasn't just my boss anymore. He was a presence I could not ignore.
At first, I told myself it was because he was demanding— sharp with his words, precise with his standards. But then I started noticing the way he looked at me during meetings. Not harshly. Just… curious. Like he was trying to remember something that kept slipping away.
It made my heart stumble every time.
