Ciel's POV
Dejected, I left the illusion room.
My chest felt as though it were shattering like glass as I walked down the halls, each step heavier than the last. She was far too deep inside it now, I thought bitterly, my hands curling into fists at my sides.
By the time I reached the doors of my study, my mind was in chaos.
I stepped inside and sank into the chair behind my desk, staring blankly ahead as the events of the day replayed themselves over and over in my head—her vacant eyes, her bleeding hands, the way she had looked through me as though I didn't exist.
How do I help her? I thought.
How do I show her that the illusion is dangerous? That it's slowly destroying her?
My breath hitched as I pressed a hand to my face, exhaustion weighing down on me like a curse.
How do I save her without becoming the monster she already believes me to be?
I sighed, long and broken. No matter how hard I racked my mind, nothing came to me. No plan. No solution. No miracle.
