Chapter 26 - [DEM] 26: Evolution

"That's right."

Seeing the two girls' shocked yet suddenly enlightened expressions,

Morpheus nodded straightforwardly. "I am indeed a deity."

There was no point in hiding this, anyway. Even if they told anyone, no one would believe them.

And even if someone did believe it, there weren't many fools who would come looking for trouble with Morpheus.

Did they really think he wouldn't kill?

Upon hearing Morpheus confirm his identity, Miko fell into deep thought, weighing whether she should become his shrine maiden. After all, this decision concerned her entire future.

Once she became a shrine maiden, she would be bound to serve Morpheus for life.

For a moment, she didn't know how to make up her mind.

Seeing her hesitation, Morpheus didn't press her. "If you're not ready to decide, you could always go to the Onmyoryo Bureau. With your top-grade Spirit Sight, you'd be an invaluable asset to them."

"They could certainly protect you."

"Think it over yourself."

With that, Morpheus withdrew the power he had granted to Hana, and she lost her ability to see malevolent spirits.

For her, this might not be a bad thing at all.

Afterward, Morpheus bid farewell to the two girls and left the rooftop, returning to the classroom.

Ritsu, spotting Morpheus's return, could no longer contain her curiosity and asked, "Hey, Morpheus-kun, what's your deal with those two girls from earlier?"

"They wouldn't happen to be the friends who make food for you, would they?"

Seeing her gossiping expression, Morpheus irritably knocked her on the head.

"Shut up."

Ritsu was about to say more when the class bell suddenly rang, and the teacher pushed open the door and walked in.

With no choice, Ritsu had to set aside her nosiness and focus on the lesson.

She didn't want to get caught daydreaming in class.

Time flew by, and soon it was time for school to end.

Just as Ritsu was about to resume her prying, Mio dragged her away.

Bored and with nothing to do, Morpheus was about to leave the school and wander around outside, perhaps to explore what other strange things had been stitched into this world.

But he was blocked at the school gate by Hana and Miko.

Miko took a deep breath upon seeing Morpheus and said, "I've made up my mind. I want to become a shrine maiden."

"You're sure?"

Miko nodded and said softly, "Please."

Morpheus had no idea why Miko had made this choice, but since she had agreed to become his shrine maiden, he certainly wasn't going to push her away.

After all, he was quite taken with her body.

"Alright then, follow me."

"Can I come too?" Hana asked.

"What, you want to become my shrine maiden as well?" Morpheus teased.

Hana clasped her hands together and pleaded, "Please, I don't want to be separated from Miko."

"Then come along."

Morpheus smiled and led the two girls away from the school, heading to a nearby deserted park.

The park was called Stray Dog Park, as if mocking something.

Morpheus had a vague feeling that he'd seen this park somewhere before, but he couldn't quite place it at the moment.

Once inside the park, Morpheus found a secluded corner with no one around and said to the two girls,

"Since you've both made your decision, from this moment on, you are my shrine maidens."

"Extend your hands. I'll grant you power."

Hana and Miko exchanged a glance and extended their hands simultaneously.

Morpheus took hold of those soft hands and infused them with the power of light.

Just like with Erina and the others, it was ten thousand points of light power each.

After receiving this power, Hana transformed into a superhuman with the power of light, no different from Erina and the rest.

But Morpheus's main focus was on Miko.

With her top-grade Spirit Sight, what kind of changes would occur once she gained supernatural power?

As the powerful light power surged into Miko's body, her golden pupils erupted with brilliant radiance, absorbing a vast amount of the light power and undergoing a transformation.

Seeing this, Morpheus chuckled softly.

It was just as he had guessed—there was indeed a change.

Miko was an ordinary person, so perhaps her top-grade Spirit Sight could only see ghosts.

But what if Miko were no longer ordinary? Would the Spirit Sight evolve, gaining abilities beyond just seeing spirits?

Now, the evolution of the Spirit Sight confirmed Morpheus's speculation.

Top-grade Spirit Sight were far more than just ghost-sight.

The reason she could only see them without being able to exorcise was clearly because Miko, as an ordinary human, had been holding the Spirit Sight back.

Once she overcame that weakness, the true might of the Spirit Sight revealed itself.

At the same time, as the Spirit Sight evolved, Miko seemed to witness something extraordinary, her face turning deathly pale.

Her whole body trembled uncontrollably, tears welling up in her eyes.

Hana noticed Miko's abnormality first and immediately pulled her into an embrace.

"Miko, Miko, what's wrong, Miko?"

"Lord Morpheus, what's happened to Miko? Why is she like this?"

Morpheus guessed, "It must be the mutation in her Spirit Sight letting her see something we can't. It's fine; it'll pass in a moment."

Hana froze for a second, then held Miko tightly, her face full of worry.

After a while, the light in Miko's pupils finally faded. She came back to herself and suddenly burst into loud sobs.

"So scary, Hana, it was really so scary!!"

Hana could only hold Miko and comfort her repeatedly. "It's okay, I'm right here. Really, it's okay."

Once Miko had calmed down, Morpheus asked curiously, "What did you see just now?"

Miko, still trembling, said, "Lord Morpheus, I saw a terribly frightening future."

"A frightening future?"

Morpheus stroked his chin and said, "It must be precognition. I never imagined that top-grade Spirit Sight would also grant the ability to see the future."

Of course, it could also be a mutation triggered by contact with his power of light.

But what intrigued Morpheus even more was what kind of future Miko had seen to scare her like that, so he asked.

"It was zombies. Endless zombies."

In response to Morpheus's question, Miko stammered, "N-not long from now, a horrifying anomaly will erupt in Tokonosu City near Tokyo. A massive number of humans will turn into zombies, attacking the living everywhere."

"Although the government intervenes immediately, the zombies mutate far too quickly."

"One month later, Tokyo falls."

"Six months later, the entire country of Japan falls."

Hi guys, Elenea here! I just want to announce that starting now I'll be trying to focus on my own original fanfic, which I've been thinking about for the past few days (lol I really mulled this over briefly for a few days and decided I'm going to make it a full novel).

If you want to read it, feel free to stop by and leave a five-star and that power stone.

[Worse Than the Devil (DxD)]

Synopsis:

Devil.

An evil and chaotic creatures born from hell who often blamed by humans for the mistakes they themselves commit.

"The devil made me do it."

A phrase always uttered by humans after committing crimes, casting blame and responsibility for their wrongdoings onto the devil.

But not all humans are like that, for there is one man who would gleefully commit atrocities that would be condemned by all of human history and accept the blame and responsibility for those wrongs with open arms.

His name is Michael, but in stark contrast to the meaning of his name 'Who is like God' he is not a devout man who draws near to God's embrace. Instead… he is the one who sends lost sheep to meet God's embrace much faster.

Don't forget to stop by, otherwise I'll actually slap you online lol.

Btw, a quick note before you decide to read, if you have a heart as pure as glass, I suggest you don't read this because it REALLY gets dark to early. The first chapter will give you a little idea of what I might explore later on in this fanservice harem-themed world like DxD.

Adios!
