His breath hitched, barely noticeable, and he had to remind himself to inhale again.
It wasn't the dress.
It wasn't how perfectly it matched his suit, or how effortlessly it fit her.
It was her.
It was the way she looked up at Amy with that tired, half smile. The way she stood, effortlessly graceful without even trying. The way his heart, for reasons he couldn't explain, suddenly thudded in a rhythm that didn't feel casual at all.
He didn't understand what was happening. Didn't want to analyze it. But he also couldn't look away.
An hour and a half had passed since he came in.
And yet, Chibuzor didn't notice. He was frozen in place like someone who had glimpsed a vision, one wrapped in navy satin, radiant without effort, completely unaware of the spell she had cast.
Amy clapped her hands, a triumphant, smug grin on her face.
