Cherreads

Chapter 20 - Chapter 18

Level 2Two looks like the only docile level in the shady grey. I stand tall on my horse, scanning my surroundings. It appears that I am in a forest with snow everywhere. But the odd thing is that it is extremely hot.

Then I hear someone screaming. It's Kai. He is up in the sky screaming, falling down. Bet that damn bike isn't going to help him now. I can't help but just stand still and hear him scream as he descends to his end.

Anytime now. Anytime.

He is still falling.

Anytime.

He yells his last yelp before finally plummeting to the ground below. He's farther than I thought, so I get closer, expecting to see his blood and chromosomes all over the ground, but he's fine, though his glasses are broken and he appears dizzy [That's it?].

"Oughhh, my head." Kai groaned, and I jumped off my horse and my legs gave out. "You good?" I ask grabbing his shoulder and pulling him to his side so I can see his face. There is only a nosebleed. "Now I'm surprised how you only got a nosebleed from falling that high." (Thought I'd get cat stew for dinner.) "It was the landlord. He gave me extra protection because I no-clipped wrong and made it into the level from the sky so I'm guessing because this went too fast but he probably gave me something to break my fall." He said weakly. It didn't seem like his head was fine.

Then a bike fell on his head, bouncing off, breaking, and landing in the snow beside him. "Well, I guess he didn't give two fucks about your bike though." I said, sighing. His bike was covered in blood and looks like a total wreck. "Ah, damn it," he said weakly. He then sighed and slowly got up.

"You must have a lot of strength in you to be able to get up after that?" I say slowly to him, looking down on him. I'm still taller than him. He starts to walk to his bike and rip something from it. A heart? It looks like a human heart, but it's covered in markings.

"My Bike Kisser was an object. The thing that makes it work like that is the soul. Named Kaiser. I'll just have to find another mobile to put this soul in." He said, sighing.

"How did you even get that?"

"I come from a line of necromancers who store souls and remains in jars as a collection. As I managed to get into this Backrooms Run, they allowed me to use this so I could have a better chance at winning, and it does work, I do say." He said, looking at the heart, which has begun to beat, and I took a few steps back.

"Yeah, you do you; I'm just looking around to see how to get to the next level."

As I'm walking on my horse, all I see is snow and endless trees as the heat beats down on me. I see some green leaves on the ground but they might as well not be there because it just seems to be the ashes.

Then I hear a voice behind me, and something jumps on my back. Taken by surprise, I fall down; my horse just stands there. I realize the person who is on my back is Kai.

"What do you want?"

"Wait, I had to catch up with you! I'd die!"

"You tried to get info out of me when you thought I was going to die." I say I'm annoyed with him.

"That was different, and I apologize! And I can be the brains and you be the brawn. I can tell you about this level!"

"Fine."

Kai gets off and I get back on my horse.

"Also I notice sometimes or very often, your legs give out. Is there a reason for it?"

Kai pulls out a notebook.

"I lost my memories and with that sometimes I forget how to walk so my body just gives in."

"Well, you know I can be helpful by telling you when you could fall doing calculations."

I look at him with disdain

"Not interested." I have my horse kick dust in his face before continuing to move forward.

But then all of the trees were gone and I saw one big open space. But the most important part is that I see someone. Someone with a blue robe and destroyed body parts appears to be able to assist me, but I will most likely have to kill it. Throughout this entire race hundreds or thousands have probably died in the backrooms.

The thing notices me and makes a gesture for me to come closer. I have my gun close to my side; I always have a gun on my horse. I slowly approach it with my hand looking like I'm not ready to grab anything but in reality I am one moment away from shooting its head off.

"OH MY GOD, A FALLEN ANGEL!" Someone behind me says to grab my pistol and shoot at it, and I hear a yelp. It was Kai, and he had died.

Not.

He slowly got up, acting like the bullet in his head isn't gushing thousands of liters of blood every millisecond. "Damn, that hurts. What was that?" He said, groaning. He is scratching the back of his head and I wonder if he's a demon.

Then I look in front of me and see the "fallen angel" very close to me with its arm out, ready to swing. My eyes widen as it swings at me, knocking me off my horse and out of my senses. I immediately get on my knees and check to see if anything is bleeding on my head. My head is bumping and only my nose is bleeding. Not that bad.

I look forward to seeing the thing that is already getting close to me again, then Kai yelled, "WAIT, DON'T KILL HIM!" And the thing stops in its tracks. Kai gets up and clears his throat. "This is a fallen angel, an ex-human who was a victim of something in the basement level. He reacted like that because you attacked me and he thought you killed me. He can send us to the next level." Kai said with his notebook at hand, wondering what's in that thing.

The fallen angel is standing still, staring at Kai. Then it glances at me and slowly heads my way. I close my eyes, preparing to get bashed to death but it only picked me up and plopped me on my horse. I feel a shock in my brain as I realize, no, I know. I remember. I remember what my horse's actual name is. It was a cold day

In 1994, I was in London and was walking through a forest while it was snowing. I was cold and trying to find my way home after getting lost. But then I saw a horse, and it was brown. It was docile, so I brought it home and named it Cutie Pie. But I'm certain I never gave up that name, even though it was terrible in retrospect.

"Alright, look, fallen angel thing, I need to find a way to the next level." I say. Knowing the thing, it's probably going to jump at me now but I'm ready. I'll blow it clean in the head unless it's like Kai and its massive forehead protects it.

It nods and grabs me by my horse; its hand got larger to carry me and my horse's body somehow. I scream and I am thrown to the ground and now I'm…wet.

I look around; it's a blue ocean with multiple clocks floating above the surface, drifting lazily across the expanse. Looking around, I notice several islands, some very close, some far away in the distance, and some close to me. There are shadows moving around so maybe there are entities here. As I'm looking around bedazzled, a spear rushes right past me, taking a small strip of cheek meat with it. I look in the direction to see a shadow but then it's gone. There's a war going on and I'm fucked.
